If you notice that a particular REO Speedwagon CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. This is a great album by REO Speedwagon, before Kevin Cronin messed 'em up. REO's cover of "Without Expression (Don't Be The Man)" was also done by John Mellencamp on his Greatest Hits album, but REO (with singer Mike Murphy) does it better. Other great songs on this album are classics written by Gary Richrath: Son Of A Poor Man, Ridin' the Storm Out, Whiskey Night, Find My Fortune etc. This album also features a great steal from Stephen Stills -- Open Up. Buy it, and you'll never miss Cronin! |

I disagree. Kevin made the sound of REO. They never intended to step onto the charts but it happened anyway. Joe Walsh has always been an amazing guitbox player. This one is an excellent piece of harder edge mastery. The only minus about this is that they did a cover. Covers are just fillers, waste of time. However, definite gem here. |

One of the best of the early REO releases. Son Of A Poor Man is very good, and somewhat overlooked. Interestingly, I believe there were two different versions of this release. One with Mike Murphy, and another with K. Cronin on vocals. |

This new singer sounds great, his voice is as dirty as Gary's guitar. To me this is a perfect album, the songwriting is hook laden. This album contains REOS first staple of their live set that would be played for decades, Riding the Storm Out. |
