A 'new' album of 'Archive' material, recorded at various album sessions & finally finished in 2014. After the initial reports of this sounding less than acceptable, I was fearing the worst. A couple of tracks are a little raw & unpolished,'Ain't Such A bad Thing' especially suffers the worst from a few crackles throughout, but it doesn't take away from my enjoyment of this at all, with the rest of the tracks all sounding absolutely fine for the most part. There are some very very good songs on here & it is really cool to hear some of these old 'Outtakes' genuinely taking you back to the bands 80's heyday & the 'Classic' sound. Especially noteable are opener 'Fire Me Up', 'Countin' The Nights', which is a real top quality song,'Come Undone' a typical Loverboy ballad, 'War Bride', obviously a very early track, but very cool & the excellent two closers 'You Play The Star' & 'Crack Of The Whip', both of which sound like leftovers from the debut album. Very retro, very 80's, very excellent |

In the age of the run of the mill aor albums this collection of vintage Loverboy songs sounds and feels like a revelation. Full of ideas, great melodies and a real band playing them just makes it click in my quality aor starving brain. Made in Canada, it still means something better than most of the rest... |

This collection of older material is a nice return to the Loverboy vibe of the early 80s, but bearing in mind that the better song material made it to the albums then. Nevertheless, this is a nice addition to their collection. I particularly like the two last tracks You play the star and Crack of the whip. |
