Awesome return to form! In the tradition of the earlier releases (Kansas, Song for America, Masque, Leftoverture, Point of Know Return). After the disappointing "Always Never the Same", this was a breath of fresh air. Kerry Livgren's involvement makes all the difference in the world, especially on "Icarus II", "Myriad", "Disappearing Skin Tight Blues" and "Distant Vision".

This is the best that Kansas has done in twenty years. Nice to have them back to form. If you like early Kansas, you'll love this. It is a must have for any true Kansas fan. Enough of the live releases, more studio work like this will bring back the masses.

Great release. They wanted to go back to the earlier root. As a huge AOR music lover, nothing surprising at first when I heard this. But then my excitement suddenly flared up as they entered the reffrain part of "Myriad". The chord, melody and catchy full chorus reminded me a lot of "Fight Fire With Fire" or "Play The Game Tonight" era.

ONE OF THE BEST ALBUNS RECORDED BY THIS BAND. A MASTERPIECE!!!

Great great release which finds the band revisiting their old sound yet not copying it per se (that's "per se" not Percy!!). Byzantium is superb and keeps up with the Kansas tradition of producing music that is a little less straightforward. Icarus II is a fantastic tour de force which builds with crunching guitars coming in halfway through. Before the Coming Dawn a beautiful atmospheric ballad that again builds and builds. Gota give this a 9.5/10

A Dynamic cd that recalls the classic prog Kansas of the early 70's. This one will take a while to digest as there is plenty to wrap your ears around.

This is a really good cd. I love Kansas, but had to give the cd numerous listens to really "get it". Two complaints: Phil's drumming just seems lackluster. At times, the songs (more the FEEL of the songs), plus the hit and miss production, reminds me of a really good garage band. Being a drummer, I can really hear the lack of feel in Phil's playing. Second, Robbie should NOT sing. My god, Grand Fun Alley is horrible!! Between the production, Phil's lack of feel and Robbies vox, this should never have been on here. I mean, with a fantastic singer like Steve, and also Billy ( I LOVE Billy's voice (check out Seventh Key)), why let Robbie sing? All in all, a really good effort, minus a few annoyances here and there. It' a shame we won't hear anymore Kansas, they are truly a legend!
