HAVOC were formed out of Charlotte, North Carolina in 1986 Mark Weddington (g), Mark Lyerly (b), Michael James (d), and Binny Orrell (v). They would quickly become one of the strongest drawing acts on the N.C. club scene. In 1988 the band would release a 6-song, eponymous EP (labeled as a Demo on some websites) in very limited quantities that would be well received by fans, press, and industry. The quartet continued to maintain a steady draw and eventually recorded another four tracks although the year(s) they were recorded is unclear. It’s also unclear if there were ever any other members aside from those mentioned involved with the act. They played regional live gigs wherever they could, but would become another one of those all too common stories of 80s rock causalities to the changing times and Grunge scene. These recordings have been reissued for the first time on CD format with alternate cover-art and lyrics, as well as never before scene photos. Their sound was heavily influence |

...by the 80’s Melodic Rock / Glam scene with com- parisons to FIREHOUSE, KEEL, SISTER, PLATINUM, LONDON, ICON, BLOODGOOD, and heavy dosages of DOKKEN. There were good energies as well as obligatory ballads to suit mostly every fan of these genres. The songwriting tended towards the mainstream although the result was that of another undiscovered gem finally being unleashed to the masses. The songs were remastered from the best possible sources although the disc revealed limitations of the source tapes used. Some also critiqued the cover-art, as a cyber robot attacking a woman didn’t really express the connection with the melodic style on display here. It would’ve also been nice to have a little bit more biographical information shed about the band and these recordings. |

Killer Band from NC,USA...the bookends here were awesome!'Pain And Pleasure' and 'Loving You'.Tunes: 'On Your Knees','Will i See You Again' etc are great too.Fans of Icon' or a harder Keel' will dig this...add some classic-era Dokken-ism's to the mix and voila.Apparently the singer and guitarist rebooted the band several years back for some live' shows. Thanks go to 'Heaven & Hell Records' for unearthing this gem. |
