Stunning, truely stunning debut, not a filler in sight every track does what a classic AOR song should do .. this has it all melody, great hooks and power, Stay With Me, After The Love Has GoneYesterday Lies In The Flames all stand out and then you reach the epic Lonelist Place In The World with its glorious extended guitar solo ending .. a masterpiece.

From: David McKenzie Date: July 23, 2001 at 19:49
I will second that. An absolute AOR masterpiece debut !

From: Mark Date: August 13, 2001 at 20:46
Outstanding! Great melodies, big choruses, thoughtful lyrics-this is powerful stuff! Gary Hughes is the MAN!

From: Rockforever Date: July 23, 2002 at 10:24
I agree with sentiments already expressed. Ten gave AOR a considerable boost at a time when the genre was being derided by the alternative rock movement. At the risk of sounding immature, alternative sucks, AOR rules. Oh yeah, and Gary is the man.

q buen grupo si señor, me encantan!! tienen grandes temas!!

From: Mark Jevons Date: January 20, 2003 at 20:11
as above and below!

From: Chris Date: June 3, 2003 at 7:59
Over rated crap. Stay well clear of this band. How they are so popular is the great mystery of the last 10 years. The guy can't sing a note. He has as much soul and passion in his vocals as my backside has after eating a curry.

From: Chris Date: June 3, 2003 at 8:31
Can anyone tell me where Gary Hughes went for his singing lessons, as i wanna stay well clear of that place. He is purely, and absolutely the worst singer my ears have ever heard.

From: bdrums1971 Date: February 28, 2004 at 0:38
I wouldn,t call it utter crap, but I have listened to this cd over and over to give it a chance, and it just doesn't grab me. The guitarist is good, but I don't like the singer and the performance seems to lack a certain fire. I love aor and melodic rock, but am dissapointed by Ten. Sorry

10 OF 10, A PERFECT ROCK ALBUM BY MY FAVOURITE BAND. INCLUDES THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG I EVER HEARD: "THE LONELIEST PLACE IN THE WORLD".

From: BORDER RAT Date: July 2, 2004 at 16:27

From: Peuman Date: August 18, 2004 at 21:35
Can't sing?....no power?...hmmm, let me listen again..hmmmmm, the negative comments couldnt be any farther off, this release and The name of the Rose and there New Release are Kicking....Melodic is what were reviewing here, this is Heavy Harmonies isnt it?...this cd is Harmonic, both vocally and musically, not a filler on here, listen and decide for yourself....

From: Geoff Date: August 19, 2004 at 2:27
What a fantasic album! I fear Ten have lost their way along the way (or become too predictable), but when it all started out this is just a brilliant melodic hard rock album. Great songs, great sound, great vocals - a mightly melodic hard rock album from start to finish. My fave is probably 'Stay with me'. Many great songs though. Solid!

From: Date: February 11, 2005 at 14:36
i´ll sell it on ebay for $20 , anyone ?

From: meradona Date: February 13, 2005 at 8:03
el primero de una saga de discazos de este gran grupo, personalmente me quedo con the name of the rose, pero este es buenisimo, atencion al trabajo de vinny burns es impresionante, creo que en el ultimo disco se nota mucho la falta de este gran guitarrista.

From: Wachen Date: April 1, 2005 at 9:10
This is the first record with Ten and a truly great one! Gary Hughes writes such wonderful lyrics and his dark moody voice fits the epic AOR-songs terrific! 8/10

From: Gonzalo rock Date: August 12, 2005 at 6:07
Without a doubt an album who all melodicrockers have to get in their collection. Like before mentioned, an AOR masterpiece. Buy it with The Name of the Rose and Spellbound and you'll got the perfect Ten trilogy.

From: Axe-Machine Date: December 10, 2005 at 13:06
Why do so many people seem to have a personal vendetta against Ten. Anyone with an ear for well crafted AOR would tell you that this album is utterly essential. Ten's sound was beefed up after this release, and in my opinion for the better as The Name Of The Rose was awesome, but their discography wouldnt seem complete without this record, which as already mentioned is well crafted AOR flawlessly presented with a shining production from Mike Stone. Reccomended. 8.5/10.

I am having to re-listen to all the back catologue over again, as I have the new versions from the 'Far from Essentials 95-2005 - The Beer Coasters' Discs inbedded in my brain, which is not a good thing. Re-listening to this and 'In The Name Of The Rose' I am just about recovered & have just about forgiven them (Only Just mind). 'AAhhh 'After The Love Has Gone', 'Yesterday Lies In The Flames', consumate MHR tunes that SHOULDN'T be F***ed with - Gary, GARY can you hear me!!!!!!

From: Carlos A. Date: March 30, 2006 at 13:44

From: BIG-TIME Date: April 5, 2006 at 23:40
Nope dont really like this album tracks 1,2,9 yeah good stuff but the rest have that 60's vibe to it. I can just see Spinal Tap doing that flash back thing when they started out hee hee. Keep rockin all!!!

IMPRESIONANTE DEBUT DE TEN. ES, JUNTO CON THE NAME OF... SUS DOS ABSOLUTOS ALBUMES. ESTE DISCO TIENE DE TODO. SOBRE TODO POR LA EXCELSA GUITARRA DE VINNY BURNS (EX-DARE).STAY WITH ME, CAN´T SLOW DOWN, GENIALES. NO ME CANSO DE ESCUCHARLO.

From: lalorock Date: June 24, 2006 at 14:06

Mis favoritas son "It´s All About Love" "After The Love Has Gone" "Lamb To The Slaughter" "The Loneliest Place In The World"

From: juan carlos Date: September 25, 2006 at 0:11

Gary is a GOD ! What a nice Band ! Ten is Top Class Melodic\AOR Stuff ! All Albums are winners. One of my faves ever ! Amazing ! 9,5 fat points !

From: Metalmusicman Date: December 11, 2006 at 11:01
Boy, people either seem to love or hate this band. How can something this amazing be that cut and dry in a community where we all claim to like one genre of music. In all honesty, this really is one of the best debuts i've ever heard from an AOR band, but do your self a favour, pick it up and judge for yourself. It has great riffs, killer melodies, amazing hooklines, and massive choruses. Isn't that what you want from any AOR album? Very, Very Recomended!!!

From: darobinson Date: April 28, 2008 at 21:47
I must agree about the comments made about Gary's voice. He is like Paul Shortino, terrible!!!

From: RockMan10 Date: April 29, 2008 at 9:54
To each their own, I suppose. However, Ten (and this disc SPECIFICAllY)is a fantastic listen. Gary and Vinny spent a lot of time on lush vocal harmonies and layered guitar. Ten became an instant classic on the first listen. I don't hear Paul Shortino in Gary's voice at all but if it were, the better off he'd be as (early) Shortino is one of my all time favorites! I agree that this comes highly recommended.

From: Kralli Date: October 6, 2011 at 4:05
And this is their best album... Talk about over hyped band. Gary is definitly one of the most boring vocalists ever. The songs actually have good structures and there are some very nice melodic riffing etc. But Garys voice and the extremly boring drum sound spoils it all.

From: hair metal again Date: January 6, 2013 at 5:00
excellent debut by TEN and their best cause later on they really showed their pomp - heavy metal routes unfortunately!sensational vocals, great guitar work and the most important fine songs!i can t see any fillers here and i d say this is enjoyable from start to finish!

From: edwithmj Date: March 12, 2013 at 19:05
Monster debut by this British AOR group. The vocalist has an almost operatic voice and it lends itself well to the tracks. I'd say my favourites are After The Love Has Gone, The Torch and Can't Slow Down. I haven't checked out their follow-up releases despite getting this a couple of years ago but will do soon to see if they offer more decent AOR tracks.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: March 19, 2013 at 15:46
A very good debut by Ten!!!...the beginning of a,so far, extensive career for Gary Hughes and company...my faves in here are "After The Love Has Gone"(killer!),"The Torch"(solid mid tempo),"Stay With Me","Close Your Eyes And Dream"(nice),"Lamb Of The Slaughter" & "The Loneliest Place In The World"(solid soft)...recommended...85/100
