this new cd shows the talent of these guys. this is their best effort up to date. i cannot say that one song is better than the rest `cause they`re all good. this is absolutely a must have for all AOR/MELODIC ROCK lovers out there.

From: ROB GARCIA Date: July 26, 2004 at 5:19
yes this is a good album alright!...but imo they have dropped a bit the quality of material on this one im afraid.some of the chorus on this one are very predictable.like i said,it's a good album but i was expecting something a bit more special from gary and the boys;well i guess you can't win all the time.

From: AOR freaky Date: July 26, 2004 at 5:32
This is a very good CD from Ten, maybe one of their best, and certainly better than their latest releases ! Why, well, they have chosen for a more AOR-ish sound and I like that. It's all more sensitive, with nice songs and Gary Hughes sounds better than ever. He's more a singer than a shouter ! Great AOR record !!!

Very good release, and one of their better ones in quite a while. 'Sail Away' is a superb ballad, and all in all, as Freaky says, this is more of an AOR sounding albums than previous releases and is the better for it.

From: koogles Date: July 27, 2004 at 11:46
Have to agree with ROB on this one. Ten has become a bit too predictable. And when they're not predictable ("Tearing My Heart Out") they're insufferable. "Even the Ghosts Cry" and "Sail Away" are the obligatory classics here, but they sound like they were written on a made-to-order basis. The songwriting and arrangements are just what you'd expect from Ten: modern-day Magnum re-writes. I like this band, I'm just getting a little tired of the same old same.

From: AOR freaky Date: July 27, 2004 at 15:49
This is not the same as their previous releases, Koogles ! Far from it ! This is more AOR than their lates releases ! So the argument : always the same isn't correct this time !

From: tonimetal Date: July 29, 2004 at 7:21
HI, this is my firts time here. I'm from Spain and my English it's not very good, so i'll do what i can. I'm a big fan of Ten since the beginig and i think this it's their best album since "The Robe". It's a return to the melodic sound of their two first album and the epic feeling of "The Robe". In my opinion, this is a very enjoyable album.

From: Bob Date: July 30, 2004 at 22:45
Good album but a little to slow for me, really miss Vinny Burns but Chris do a great job anyway...maybe next album will be a little bit tuffer I hope.

From: RushMan Date: August 12, 2004 at 8:25
Excellent CD from the guys, but with only one criticism really - Gary's singing. I not a big lover of his singing, and I feel this is his weakest effort to date. This music is screaming for a big time singer to take over the singing to give it that little bit extra that is missing. The good thing is that this does not detract from the quality of the songwriting and well produced sound. Totally recommended - buy it!

From: Wotty Date: August 15, 2004 at 12:51
Ten are back on form with Gary in good voice.Well-produced and played,a satisfying HARD/AOR cd.

From: Geoff Date: August 15, 2004 at 21:12
Don't get me wrong, I really like this band and will prove it later when I assess all Ten albums, but for me this is just damn plain and I feel as though I've heard it all a million times before... on previous Ten albums! It is so same-ish sounding and aside from the great 'Even the ghosts cry' I'm just left feeling that I've heard all these songs before with different lyrics and slight changes musically. Dreary, is what I call this album. Still, a great band anyway, just not their finest hour.

From: Axe Machine Date: August 22, 2004 at 17:14
Some unfortunate negative comments have been left about this album and undeservedly so. Although the production is not quite as glossy as Far Beyond The World, the song content is among the strongest since NOTR and combines the sound from that album with FBTW and Spellbound. One of 2004's best releases so far along with HUGO.

From: MJ Date: August 25, 2004 at 17:29
Superb! Go and buy it

From: Max Date: August 31, 2004 at 1:52
I loved the last hard-edged Ten albums, but I also love their pure AOR period, so its no surprise that I dig this album. Great stuff from gary and company. Need more listenings though.

From: Jonny_B Date: September 3, 2004 at 22:36
The new Ten did nothing for me. The songs could almost be mistaken for leftovers from GH's "Once and Future King" albums. At times, I felt I could've swapped lyrics and not notice the difference.

From: CHESSBOARDER Date: December 12, 2004 at 7:46
REALLY GREAT WORK, GARY !!! I LOVE IT !!!

From: AYREON Date: December 15, 2004 at 15:33
Pedazo de disco, muy recomendable a la gente que le gustan los anteriores trrabajos de ten.Impresioneantes Evenmore, Ail Away and Even the ghost cry. Patética la portada por cierto. Really good album, but I think Geoff it's right, Ten sounds always the same, but anyway they are great. Ah, one more thing, maybe one of the worst album cover I've ever seen

From: meradona Date: December 17, 2004 at 15:16
es un buen disco pero para mi gusto a años luz del primero y del the name of the rose, me parece oir en el disco todo el rato falta vinny falta vinny, lo siento creo que han perdido mucho con el cambio de guitarrista. pese a todo un buen disco 7/10

From: guillermo Date: December 26, 2004 at 6:36
pedazo de banda a ver cuando los vemos en el festival de Eurovision barrirendo con alguno de sus baladones. GRan album algo progresivo al principio pero Aor de primera calidad luego.Que vuelvan pronto con otro album.

Solid return to form from the many distractions caused by the solo life. This has enough varation to make it an essential purchase - time after time Hughes delivers the goods. Just a great Cd with many memorable vocal melodies!

From: the game Date: June 7, 2005 at 9:30
Good, but average release this time from Ten. This cd is more on the lighter and slower side and not like the previous epic sounding cd's. Also there is really nothing new to offer. They need someone who can really let go on guitar like Vinny Burns did. Chris Francis is to layed back in his guitar style. I would like to see John Haliwell take the lead as he can really shred and play guitar (check out his band Enzign) and is similar to Vinny in style. Temple of Love is a great song. Rated 7/10.

From: Gonzalo rock Date: August 12, 2005 at 5:45
After no other than 7 albums, Ten still is a reference in melodic rock scene. After their departure out of Frontiers Record (what happens with the production!!), Return to Evermore contains a group of fantastic songs like Sail away (one of the best Ten's ballads), Even the ghost cry or The one. Listen them and tell me if this album is not value for money. Nowadays after no tour, no DVD from Gods 2002, no promos, forgotten oficial web site ... the next album is on the can. See Chris Francis offic

Otro soberbio album de Gary Hughes & Co. continuan en su linea Aor-Hardrock melodico con reminiscencias epicas de gran nivel, preciosas baladas como "Sail Away" un clasico o "Strangers In The Night" y temas rockeros como "Temple Of Love" o " Even The Ghosts Cry", por lo que a mi respecta esta obra junto al primer album (un discazo) y el "The name of the rose" son de lo mejor que haya escuchado de esta banda 9.4/10

From: Melo Date: December 1, 2006 at 1:40
hmmm.......Ten is back with an great Album, but i miss Vinny Burns ! Of course,Chris is a great guitar slinger too,but Vinny is the right man for TEN ! i hope he comes back !

From: z4roxx Date: December 4, 2006 at 12:48
For me it’s one of the finest melodick bands of the century.Gary Hughes is not a top singer indeed but he has an own magic style and especially a great vein as songwriter. This cd is another fantastic capithol of their long discography and I’ll buy asap their new cd.

Good album folks!!!.Every song has something remarkeable."Evil is on top of the world" is a hard rockin' tune indeed.Enjoyable!!!.

From: juan carlos Date: April 4, 2007 at 0:24

From: rick kerch vzla Date: March 9, 2011 at 20:11
"Evil Is On Top Of The World" definitively is the best song in here IMHO...but wow this band is amazing..every album released by them is like a masterpiece or close to it!!! ..."Apparition" is epic..."Dreamtide","Sail Away"(nice indeed),"Temple Of Love" & "Even The Ghosts Cry"(both catchy tunes)& "Tearing My Heart Out"...worth having it along with their other releases...92/100

From: hair metal again Date: February 26, 2013 at 1:51
excellent release once again by TEN and its obvious that Gary Hughes is a very talented songwriter!all the songs are catchy, well structured and performed and it seems so easy for them to write a good song!"even the ghosts cry" and "evil s on top in the world" are the highlights of one of TEN s best releases!highly recommended!
