This release, at least for me, reflects Ann and Nancy in middle age, which I know they are; it just does not rock enough for me, IMO. Love Heart, not so much this release.

This is hardly the first Heart disc that hasn't rocked. By Doug's assessment, these ladies have been menopausal since the mid-'80's.

Pretty damned good in spots and certainly not a bad album at all. If you are after the big 80's Heart sound, then look elsewhere. If you like the more acoustic, older side to the band, then this one is very much worthy of your time, as there are some very good tracks on here. The 2 added bonus tracks on the European release are nice additions too, so I advise anyone to buy that version instead. This is also much better than 'Jupiters Darling' in my opinion, which whilst good in places, took a hell of a while to get into and was a little on the disappointing side. I've been a Heart fan for donkeys years now and this one hasn't let me down at all. Good, solid album.

I've always had a soft spot for Heart even if I generally only liked around half the tracks on most of their albums. As female singers go Ann Wilson is at the top of the pile & still sounds great today. This for me is one of their more consistent albums with not as many fillers as usual. Even less immediate tracks like "Sunflower" grew on me (just had to say it) with more listens & the more I played the album the more I liked it."Wheels" could have been so much better with a stronger chorus but the first three tracks are very good, while "Hey You" is a beautiful acoustic number. However my personal favourite is "Safronia's Mark" another acoustic driven song with a kick which gives a similar vibe to "Crazy On You". The two bonus tracks on the European version are worthwhile, with "Bootful of Beer" sounding like the sort of fun song Sammy Hagar comes out with & ballad "Closer To The Sun" while not their best is another that improves with more listens.

This album sputters for me. It has this blues sound to it here and there. I'm in the USA and ordered the Japanese version of the album for the bonus track "Listening". I have heard Heart fans say this album is Heart's return to their early sound. I have to disagree. There is a mix between Heart's early sound and then Ben Mink's sound. I don't care for his direction. The bluesy, sound (There You Go Again, Queen City, Red Velvet Car, Wheels, Sunflower) Bootful of Beer is good, although it's bluesy. Closer to The Sun is great, Listening Is Good, and In The Cool are all great tracks. WTF is a Barracuda/Black On Black II quality track, and Safronia's Mark sounds the most like early Heart. It took me some time to get through the whole album. I don't understand why Ann & Nancy did Sand and billed it as a Heart song? Honestly Sand could have been a bonus track...its a good song but it's been done by them. Why not re-record a track from Desire Walks On like My Crazy Head, In Walks The Night?

A mellow and moody release in its 95%...even with that is a nice album to listen to..."There You Go","Queen City","Wheels"( ) & "Saffronia's Mask" are my faves from the main album...there's an edition that brings 3 bonus tracks being "Closer To The Sun" & "In The Cool" the ones i liked...60/100

ok release by HEART ,more on the semi acoustic side of the band !the quality is pretty high and they manage to create a certain vibe that reflects their roots!not my fav ,but an ok one with some good moments for the fans and for keeping the HEART legacy alive
