Brilliant Canadian release very much in the vein of Loverboy( listen to that Paul Dean guitar sound) and Orphan.A must have of the genre and without a doubt there best release.

From: freddy de keyze Date: December 2, 2002 at 4:14
Indeed, Jez, this is one of these very underrated, but great canadian acts. Very good indeed and worth having in any collection !

From: koogles Date: December 2, 2002 at 10:02
Still their best release. Jez, the Orphan comparison is dead-on. Paul McAusland's voice is very similar to Chris Burke's. Also comparable to Honeymoon Suite's debut. "Standing in Line" and "Bad Bad Boy" are two of the greatest Canadian AOR songs of the decade. They say there's something special about "first things"... well, Haywire's first album definitely has that intangible, almost innocent, magic.

From: Greg Date: December 26, 2002 at 19:56
These guys are awesome, they are from PEI, Canada, which is exactly where I'm from, I saw them play together in August, they still rock...check out their "Best of..."

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: March 18, 2003 at 9:59

From: YRRET SNIKTAW Date: April 3, 2003 at 12:41
This album does rock, I seen Haywire perform 3 times in Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada and each time they rocked. It's great to see a few people remember this underrated band as I thought they faded away into obscurity. My third favorite Canadian band of all time behind Glass Tiger and Loverboy. And if all possible check out the video for Bad Boys, definately 80's cheese, but what a tune!

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: December 23, 2003 at 3:02
EXELENTE ALBUM MUY BUENAS CANCIONES, ALTAMENTE RECOMENDADO COMO SABEMOS LAS BANDAS CANADIENSES TIENEN UN ESTILO PARTICULAR, Y ESTE ES UN BUEN EJEMPLO UN AOR FRESCO Y LIMPIO, COME ON BOYS CONSIGANLO NO SE ARREPENTIRAN, BAD BOYS ES UN SUPERCLASICO, HABER SI HAY ALGUN PERUANO EN ESTA PAGINA, PORQUE CREO QUE SOY EL UNICO, BUENO SOY LA AUTORIDAD DEL AOR EN PERU, SALUDOS DESDE ICA-PERU SALUDOS 9 CHAMPIONS A 1, MALLORCA´S ROCK Y A TODOS LOS AMANTES DEL AOR, YA NO SALE MUSICA COMO ESTA

From: GlenRavine Date: December 30, 2003 at 23:55
Excellent debut - catchy harmonies throughout - highly recommended.

From: MontrealRock Date: January 29, 2004 at 15:03
Haywire had the sound dialed in. The Loverboy comparisons are somewhat apt, but there is definitely something unique and intangible about their sound. I actually think that "The Darkness"(UK band) somewhat have this sound. But they are coming from a slightly more tongue-in-cheek direction. Haywire were a very talented band of musicians who just could not rise above the era that spawned them. Not exactly a "timeless" sound. But that's what makes it great, I guess. Great guitars!

From: Blaine Date: February 2, 2004 at 21:40
I agree with Greg. I saw them in 1992 at the Great Canadian Party in St. John's, NFLD. A great concert with Kim Mitchell, Lee Aaron, and more. This was another one of my favorite albums of 1986; a great year for music. I love Canadian music.

From: Rycheage Date: February 7, 2004 at 19:06
It's primarily a high-tech but commercialized formula which is applied throughout, and can be best heard on efforts such as 'Standin' In Line', 'Out Of My Head', and 'Girl In Love'. Their ballads and mid paced tracks are great too: 'Holding You' and 'Shot In The Dark' particularly stand out. My favorites however are the pairing of 'Bad Bad Boy' and the bubbly 'She's Not (The Kind Of Girl)'.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: August 13, 2004 at 3:59

De cerca Girl in Love, Shot in the Dark y Out of My Head.

From: SCANDI Date: May 17, 2006 at 10:36
Just listening to this I must admit it's a decent release. I'd say the better end of AGENT. And the LOVERBOY comparision I hear too. Songs are easy listening hi-tech AOR surely with a lot rock in it while I don't agree that the first two tracks are the best of Canadian AOR ever (in fact I don't like Canadian AOR at all due to its course often to sound boring =so I can't really tell which're the best).

From: SCANDI Date: May 17, 2006 at 10:39
Track two could be amongst my favourites here (together with 3 & 4 -- after just one & a half spins ) but it has somewhat of an 'alternative' touch I hate. Then again the chorus is exceptional. 7,8/10

From: LGBG1978 Date: January 31, 2007 at 22:30
Mis favoritas, bad bad boys,Shot In The Dark. lgbg1978@gmail.com

From: Carlos A. Date: February 1, 2007 at 13:12

From: lalorock Date: February 8, 2007 at 22:27

From: kipvanpearcy Date: April 21, 2008 at 9:28
Excellent debut from this canadian band! This is first class AOR, I love almost all the songs on this one.

From: oliver Date: February 27, 2009 at 9:06
Owning the Nuthouse + Don´t Just Stand There (which imo are very poor)I couldn´t believe that the Bad Boys is a killer, as someone told me. But I bought it and I have to say that this is melodic rock near to perfection. No fillers, great chorusses, very remarkable songs. Best are 1 - 3. A must have. Rate it 95/100

From: rick kerch vzla Date: March 1, 2010 at 19:13
I really loved this debut effort..tipically 80's sound with catchy songs and great melodies..."Bad Boys" is the kind of opening tracks that just put you in a good mood right away!,"She's Is Not(The Kind Of Girl)","Holding On"(good ballad),"3 Wishes","Girl In Love" and so on...do not think twice in buying this album if u have the chance..highly recommended!.90/100

From: Eric3 Date: June 1, 2017 at 23:23
Just ridiculously catchy keyboard-driven AOR. Not particularly heavy or technical but these songs are so easy to listen to! The production is awesome as well. Definitely a high-80s rating from me. Favorite tracks are "3 Wishes," "Girl In Love," and "Crazy"
