NOOOOO.

From: koogles Date: July 8, 2002 at 18:20
This isn't the oft-proclaime second coming of "Mood Swings" but it does kick enough ass to put 99% of the other recent releases to shame. Definitely a welcome return to form for one of the best bands on the scene. How does this stack up against their other albums? Well, in a win-place-show sort of ranking, it's "Mood Swings" over the debut by a nose with "WOTW" finishing a not-so-distant third, IMO. Only complaint: "Weight of the World", at under 40 minutes, could have been longer.

From: THE ROCKER Date: August 4, 2002 at 7:06
9 CHAMPIONS A 1,TIENES TODA LA RAZON,ESTE DISCO TIENE ALGUN TOKECILLO AL MOOD SWING PERO NI MUCHO MENOS ES TAN BUENO

From: freddy de keyze Date: August 22, 2002 at 7:15
Sorry, but this is the most overrated act ever. No quality and no quantity. It's not AOR but alternative nu-breed that we here from that band and fairly said, it's pure crap !!! Why this band is so hyped is beyond me. There are hundreds more talented acts out there. Avoid like the plague !!!!!

From: Blue Charvel Date: August 22, 2002 at 12:29
Although I respect your opinion, I have to say for the record that I totally disagree. If there's one band that says "AOR" to me, it would probably be HS. I'm not like a huge fan or anything, I just think they're WAY too commercial to be lumped in with alternative bands. And as far as the quality, one thing I am a fan of is the obvious talent in this band. Like I said, I'm not a big fan or anything, but these guys can seriously play their instruments.

From: freddy de keyze Date: August 25, 2002 at 8:22
Dear Blue Charvel, I agree with you that these guys can play their instruments. No doubt about that. But they are not typical AOR !!! and that's for sure. They are far too modern sounding (call it nu-breed) to be labled as AOR. Pure AOR for me souns like Mecca, and the pioneers of the genre Foreigner, Survivor, Styx, Boston, Journey, Toto, plus great AOR acts as Boulevard, Signal,i-Ten, Bystander, Captive Heart, Van Stephenson, Harlan Cage, Fortune, 101 South, Drive She Said, Cannata, Dakota etc

From: Nah Date: October 13, 2002 at 16:36
Of course they are modern sounding, but, unfortunatly, this is the AOR sharp today. This album is not like the first two, no doubt... but it's infinitly better than the last 3 ones or more. It sounds great!

From: scott Date: October 22, 2002 at 23:18
this cd kicks ass has the usual catchy songs. they are one of the best bands around and don't get recognised like they should.these guys are 2 of the best writers ijn music today.and to say they are not aor blows my mind just listen to there 2 first cd's.though the best aor band of all time is SURVIVOR!!mecca, the storm, toto, are also great aor bands.

From: Bilboker Date: December 26, 2002 at 23:42
A mi personalmente, el sonido no me convence. Demasiado modernillo...

From: ARXONTAS Date: January 12, 2003 at 10:51
It is so sad for me to see people here posting opinions and with so easiness say things like---> This is a.o.r or this is not a.o.r but pomp a.o.r, or this is not an average album but a masterpiece or this is not mastrepiece but just average. It is so easy to put "stamps" in music but as anyone can think ,its so different the way that every album reacts on anyone of us.

From: ARXONTAS Date: January 12, 2003 at 10:56
"If You" truly is a song that has a modern sound but we cant say that the whole album is close to nu-breed alternative sound otherwise this must be a favourite of alternative fans and i dont think that it is.Blue Charvel got my point

From: ARXONTAS Date: January 12, 2003 at 11:06
*These guys can "build" some guitar riffs that the best alternative band could only DREAMED...Absolutely No Alternative...

ARXONTAS, I see we share the same opinion of the self-proclaimed "experts" who like to put every band in a specific category, sometimes making up new ones. I for one, am still looking for the "pomp" section at my local music retailer....

From: JAVIER-MADRID Date: January 22, 2003 at 3:20

From: J Date: January 27, 2003 at 23:00
Along with Dream Theater, Probably one of the BEST bands ever to walk the Planet: Melodic, Furious, Touching, Moving, Great Playing, etc... But then again... it's only my opinion...

From: robert Date: January 28, 2003 at 15:01

From: John Date: February 4, 2003 at 22:32
Worth the price of the cd for 'Killing Me'

From: Jontyler Date: February 5, 2003 at 4:06

From: robert Date: February 5, 2003 at 14:50
Saludos!

From: Alejandro Date: February 10, 2003 at 17:03

Another cd that was hyped to hell last year, and once again good, but not that good. Tremendous playing and production, but some of the songs fall way short. Give me the debut anyday.

From: Date: March 19, 2003 at 15:59
More similar to Rubber or Karma Cleansing than to Mood Swings. Not bad, but not great at all.

From: Bisho Date: March 24, 2003 at 23:40
One of the greatest Melodick Rock Bands to ever walk the planet! Hess & Lesperance know how to write catchy rock tunes. Every chorus is a killer and there is plenty of variety on here to satisfy fans of old and nu (pun intended!) I am a huge fan of everything HS has to offer, so don't try comparing it to this album or to that album. Just enjoy it for what it is... Kick arse ROCK! Outside Your Window & Killing Me and the title track are 3 of the best songs you'll ever here! Nobody comes close.

no sean brutos , comparar es de mediocres este disco no es mood swings pero es weight of the world y es muy bueno , asique disfruten y no analicen tanto, porque ahi es donde se pierde el sentimiento , y si no les gusto , pues escuchen el disco de harem que les guste y se termino , 10 puntos para weight of the world.

From: wendal09 Date: July 18, 2003 at 13:52
The songwriting, vocals, production and the high level of talent on various instruments cannot be questioned. This is very good. The question is if one likes how dangerously close to NU this latest release comes. I for one certainly don't like this as much as the S/T or Mood Swings and I find myself liking it mostly because of who it is and not so much what it is. You 'll witness a similar situation with Danger Danger (Gildersleeves and Four the hard way). But there is much worse out there.

From: John Date: August 27, 2003 at 16:19
Awesome hooks, choruses and performed wonderfully. Does it sound modern in places? Absolutely. Could 'Killing Me', 'You Ruined Everything' or 'If You' fit into any of the so-called classic Harem Scarem albums? ABSOLUTELY. This album is superb with a captial S.

From: PODEROSO YIRO Date: January 2, 2004 at 0:40
TAL VEZ TENDREMOS QUE RESIGNARNOS AL HECHO DE QUE NO VOLVEREMOS A ESCUCHAR OTRO "MOOD SWINGS" YA QUE ESO NO LO SUPERA NADA, SIN EMBARGO AQUI HAREM SCAREM HACEN UN GRAN DISCO DE HARD ROCK CON TOQUES MODERNOS, EVOLUCIONANDO CON SENTIDO PERO MANTENIENDO SIEMPRE ESAS MELODIAS Y ARREGLOS SUBLIMES QUE SIEMPRE LES CARACTERIZAN. MIS FAVORITAS: "YOU RUINED EVERYTHING", "OUTSIDE YOUR WINDOW", "KILLING ME" Y UNA QUE PARA MI DEBERIA SER UN CLASICO: "THIS AIN´T OVER", HERMOSA BALADA, VAYA FEELING DE HESS AAA

From: howe Date: February 3, 2004 at 19:18
This is the most inspired album I've listened to in recent years. Most of the bands from the 80's and the 90's are stuck in obsolete formulas, but HS have always had the ability to sound modern without losing identity. I don't understand the comparison with the nu-breed. What's so wrong about bringing Hard Rock into today's world? Besides, HS have something different from the majority of modern bands: they play positive music. Outside Your Window and This Ain't Over are my favorite tracks.

From: meradona Date: April 1, 2004 at 12:34

From: Date: April 12, 2004 at 22:17
Great comeback CD Voice inside is a lot like Change Comes Around. You Ruined Everything and Outside Your Window are also killer songs

From: Rycheage Date: May 28, 2004 at 12:32
You could call this a return to form. Long debates have occurred in the past about the direction of Canadian melodic rock band Harem Scarem. The mainstays Hess and Lesperance still lead the band, while the Harem Scarem Class of 2002 is an intoxicating brew of debut era HS. Very appropriate in todays musical climate.

From: rock_dawg1 Date: May 29, 2004 at 6:25
Definitely a strong album from one of the most elite bands out there. There are some really strong, powerful, catchy songs on this disc I think the track that does it for me that is vintage Scarem is Outside Your Window although every track holds it own on this album. WOTW defines Harem Scarem once again proving that they only get better with time. I like the groups 2003 release Higher a bit more then this album but not by much as both albums have their own elements. All in all must have album!

From: JF Date: May 5, 2006 at 14:06

From: sluss528 Date: August 8, 2006 at 17:20
now freddie i do have to disagree with you here mate! they are not nu -breed sounding to me at all. nu- breed is that lincoln park bull shit and staind and all that puke. these guys sound nothing like that at all! i do agree that they are over rated big time though. but this is a good disc though! 8/10

From: www.vpxglobal.com Date: November 20, 2006 at 22:39
For the new guys checking out this site...remember these comments are only opinions..that's it. EG: My cousin and I have similar taste to metal/aor/indie etc...BUT...There are some albums he likes and some I don't...There is no hard and fast rules here...Get the CD..if you like it great...if not then resell on ebay or amazon. You really need to just sit down and listen to the music and decide YOURSELF..but the members usually get it right about 80% of the time.

From: Metalmusicman Date: December 10, 2006 at 21:44
A very welcomed return to form for most fans, as the Canadian AOR giants return with their best release since "Mood Swings". The song writing has returned 360 degrees and come back to where it began, with the sound and stlye that brought this band to the top. While there are some weaker spots I'll admit, for the most part this thing is the disc the fans have been waiting for now for almost a decade. If you like classic Harem Scarem, then this one is a no brainer!!!

From: YNGWIEVIKING Date: August 13, 2007 at 5:39
I think it's far from the quality of the 3 first cd , but even when they are in a average mood , they are much better than a lot of so-called AOR MASTERS out there ! 92/100

From: Lennie Date: August 15, 2007 at 7:45
The first 3 tracks are all classic HS and easily compare with anything on Mood Swings. In fact overall the quality here is a little more consistent than on Mood Swings. Tracks 7,8,9 & 11 are all great IMO, whereas the second part of Mood Swings is just plain weak in comparison. Easily their best record in a decade and would spark the re-birth of the classic Harem sound from the first 2 albums. Essential.

From: metalmaniac777 Date: March 7, 2010 at 10:08
Holy hoppin' hippo in Hades, Harem Scarem are back, big time! Following the release of their first two CDs, these Canadians were hailed as melodic rock legends, but then they chased off a large portion of their fan base by releasing a decade-long string of dark, heavy, experimental albums. Well, with this release, they've chucked all that like a jilted girlfriend tossing her cheating boyfriend's belongings out the window and once again delivered a powerhouse melodic hard rock album that should see fans rallying once again 'round the Harem Scarem flag. The gorgeous harmonies are present, of course (they never really went away, no matter what genre the band dabbled in), and the choruses soar to delicious heights on the strength of their catchy hooks while the guitars crank along with all their polished fury. Welcome back, Harem Scarem...the melodic hard rock world missed you.

From: HEAVY PARADISE Date: August 2, 2012 at 13:06
Another excellent example of a great band. I saw some comments about 'alternative', 'nu-breed' e.t.c.......no way!!!! This is melodic rock at its best with a 'fresh' air that blows you away from the very first listen!!!!! Well done....

From: ERIK MARTINEZ Date: March 7, 2022 at 16:15
I'm going to write my review of "Weight of the World". First of all, I clarify that my favorite band of all is Harem Scarem. Their first two albums are my favorite cd's only after the first big Blue Tears album. "Weight of the World" seems to me to be an album that is in the style of alternative rock with songs very much in the style of Stone Temple Pilots like "You Ruined Everything", in the style of Garbage like "Charmed Life", in the style of Simple Plan like "If You" and the style of Alex Band in "Outside Your Window". "Weight of the World" is an album with songs that are easy to listen to and stay in the mind. I recognize that it is an album that seems very commercial with a style very much from the second half of the 90's. Harem Scarem has distinguished himself by making albums of different styles in his career. Maybe that's why they are my favorite band, although I admit that I don't like all their albums like Karma Cleasing. This album has good songs like "Weight of the World",

From: ERIK MARTINEZ Date: March 7, 2022 at 16:16
Killing me" "All I Want" and the great ballad "This Ai n't Over" which reminds me of Freddy Mercury (with due distance and respect from him) . I think this is an album that can be enjoyed by anyone who likes rock the style that is played on the radio stations. Maybe it's not an album for AOR fans, because it definitely doesn't sound like that. The Millennial generation may like this album more than the "X" generation who knew and grew up listening to the 2 "Harem Scarem" and Mood Swings". I understand that many of the AOR connoisseurs are disappointed with the second half of the album, but there will be people who like the second half of the album more than the first. Personally, I stayed with the first half of the album. Finally, this album is my 3rd favorite album of the band, after their first 2 albums Greetings to all the connoisseurs of the good music of Heavy Harmonies
