Meh. Another highly disappointing album. It starts promising, with Love and Bullets and When the Lights Go Down, but after that almost everything is just too soft and boring. Hoping for something similar to Danger Danger's Cockroach album was probably a mistake. |

i m totally agree with swedish rocker.i was very impress and excited when i had listening the advance of "love and bullets" and "when the lights go down".these two songs are really excellent.i admit honestly that i m disapointed about the other songs of this album.the rest of the cd is great ,no more.nothing special ,nothing extraordinary.the other songs don t hooked me specialy.the recipe here is a good production,a very great singer and some brilliant musicians, but they forget the main ingrediant :some super songs!!!!!!!!!! |

Just like Treat, this is a very good disc for 2016. While To ME, Treat's "Ghost of Graceland" is better however The Defiant's has a lot to like. There is a lot of familiar Danger Danger mixed with Paul Laine's solo music here. I do prefer the sound of Rob Marcello's guitar as it has so much punch to it. Some of the music is a little more simplistic but still fun and full of harmonies and melodies. Tracks 6,7, and 8 pull down the disc a bit but still pretty good. I believe both will be top 5 for a lot of people in 2016. 9.2 / 10 |

Just awesome. Nice thick guitar tone, great melodies and a terrific vocal performance. What more could an AOR fan ask for? Through April, this is my melodic rock album of the year. |

Fantastic album and contender for album of the year so far.I loved the last DD album and this is just as good.Production is top notch and the songs are great. Love & Bullets, When The Lights Go down, Waiting On A Heartbreak, Take Me Back, Runaway, We All Fall Down, are my top picks. Can not recommend this enough! |

A good album of modern Melodic Hard Rock with a touch of AOR here and there...tracks 4,9,10,11(nice)& 12(poppy and catchy)...it's really pleasant to see these 4 "dangerous cowboys" playing here together.87/100 |

This is just perfect imo. All killer, no filler! Even better than the last D2 album, if that's possible, with a much stronger vocal from the excellent Paul Laine. He's singing his heart out and sounds much younger than he is (soon 50). Very impressive. Rob and Bruno, and the drummer, are super-solid too, as expected. Cool thing that Bruno and Paul got to write an album together, more as a team than before in D2. What a great album for this summer Paul is one of THE best singers out there, for sure. It is so great to hear him roar again. |

It does not get any better! Hat's off for these wonderful and true musicians. This and the new Treat disc make you smile all day. This is how it's done. Damn, Ravel is also a great producer. Perfect mixing as well. |

Notice that at 2:45 into the track "Love and Bullets" that there are chickens clucking? Is this a subliminal message to the weak link Tad Pole-y that there's a NEW rooster back in the DD hen house? This is definitely much better than the last DD reunion album Revolve (2011), but I have a few issues.Besides Bruno's chicken little effects there are annoying generated effects(gun shots)in the mix, and filler at the album's mid point, but with Paul's excellent vocals it's hard to complain. First 3 tracks are DD 2.0 (Laine years) as the album some what deteriorates from that point but ends on a high note with the country-rock leaning "That's When I'll Stop Loving You" that sounds like it came from Paul Laine's last project "DarkHorse – Let It Ride (2014)"[Not listed on HH]. From what I heard Frontiers special ordered this project to Burno telling him who they wanted involved and the style of music produced. They have a contract for one more Defiants album so let's see if they up the ante. |

Slightly above average for me I'm afraid. I've never been a huge fan of Laine's voice - the man can sing surely, but his voice has a generic boy-band sound to it and pretty much all the albums he fronts have mostly filler in them. This release sounds a bit modern to me and there are a few decent songs on this: my favourite being Runaway which despite the bizarre backing vocals at times is pulled off quite nicely. The other highlights wouldn't do much for me if it were not for Marcello's excellent work on songs like Love and Bullets, When the Lights Go Down, Waiting On A Heartbreak, Last Kiss and We All Fall Down. The ballad Save Me Tonight does nothing for me however. Lowlights include Lil' Miss Rock'n'roll, Take Me Back and Carillon. Definitely not as good as D2's 2009 release Revolve. |

OK, lets get to the point with this album...The Defiants are D2 with Laine reincarnated!:-) This album is what Paul Laines D2 have wanted since that line up broke up, and especially since Poley's D2 isn't planning anything anytime soon. I just cannot believe that this album is that good, not only does it provide great hooks, riffs, grooves but helluva great melodies and choruses. The production is real good too, which Frontiers has been criticized here lately of lacking or too canned. But this is almost spot on perfect. HIGHLIGHT TRACKS: #2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9 MY RATING: 90/100 |

sensational debut for THE DEFIANTS and of course the best hard rock release of 16!the songwriting and the performance is of the highest level and i can t believe it can get far better than this nowadays!Bruno &Paul are shining stars and Rob a very capable guitar player that has shown big improvement in his playing mostly because of his involvement in D2!perfect all the way and a clear masterpiece |

everyone is entitled to their opinion but after listening to this cd numerous times those who say it is "nothing extraordinary" must not be listening close enough. At first listen I was hooked on tracks 1,2,3 & 5. After numerous listens you can add 6.8.9.10 & 11!! Incredibly enjoyable!! IMO a true gem! |

Hello everyone, I don't agree that only the first two songs are the highlights. You can add the super-catchy 'Waiting on a Heartbreak'; the very interesting 'Runaway' and the beautiful ballad 'Save Me Tonigh' and 'Take Me Back' to the list. Great album, with a great singer and great production. |
