This is the band that got 'lost' theyre trying to be a hard rockers version of The Beatles. Their 3 first releases are fantastic.....But then they went too soft.

My top release of the year so far (after the mighty New Styx - Cyclorama release). Some of the songs on this release are the best the band has ever written ('What I Like', 'Jamie's Not Alone'). Maybe too lite (in places) for some of their 'older' followers, but quality is quality i say. This one is going to be a hard one to beat come the end of the year.

From: robert Date: April 14, 2003 at 15:07
OBRA MAESTRA TOTAL!! Y ESE TEMAZO; WHAT I LIKE una verdadera Bomba, pero d las buenas no d las mierdosas q an tirao en irak... una d las mejores bandas actuales: ASOLUTAMENTE COLOSALES!!! yo voy a verlos a Lugano el 3 d MAyo. alguien sapunta?

From: koogles Date: April 15, 2003 at 1:49
Give it a chance- treat it like that cross-eyed kid who had a speech impediment on the playground and just wanted to play Nerf football with the cool guys. It does get better with repeated listens. Of course, this CD is the musical equivalent of a Nerf football in comparison to the tougher pigskin of earlier Gotthard releases. Gottsoft? Gottbetter I say.

From: Paulo-Fernandes Date: April 18, 2003 at 21:58
Damn good cd, one of their best, the first six songs alone are worth the price of the cd - Just dont expect a come-back-to-roots album, thats behind them and i think it was a good move.

From: RafaMCatarroja Date: April 23, 2003 at 9:32
This the ALBUM OF THE YEAR!Good damned HARD ROCK.What a Voice! What a riffs! What a melodies! What a BAND!Human Zoo is more mature, and better than any other album.Listen to:Human Zoo,What I Like,Top Of The World,...and you'll see that its a Masterpiece!!!

From: Great Dane Date: April 23, 2003 at 19:25
Pure crap. Way too commercial. Beatles wannabees.

From: Paulo-Fernandes Date: April 23, 2003 at 22:13
Great Dane - listen to it again and imagine it like being from a different band!

From: Great Dane Date: April 24, 2003 at 5:06
Hi Paulo. Hmmmmmmm. I just got the new Pretty Maids 2 cd set. Now thats rockn roll. I'll give Gotthard another try later. Atleast on this cd there are''traces'' of Hard Rock. On the previous releases, it was all nice melodies, and no hard rock at all. But I'LL give it another try.

From: Kristian Date: April 27, 2003 at 13:53
This cd is really good, don't expect it to be like the debut or Dial Hard, it's more melodic. Saw these guys in Germany last week, what a show, the singer was fantastic, and he played the drums too. By the way, Kingdom Come opened up, and they really sucked!

From: Cesar Date: May 5, 2003 at 18:16

What's with album Frosted? Is It Good?

From: Great Dane Date: June 8, 2003 at 21:46
Rocker65.........Its NOT Frosted. ITS D-Frosted. Like Un-Plugged. Its nice and neat. Nothing more. It has tons of nice sounding vocal harmonies like any modern 'boyband' . Personally I hate it.

From: PauloFernandes Date: June 9, 2003 at 19:17
Yep, D-Frosted is the name, and well, its not "Five man acoustical jam" (Tesla) - but i like a whole bunch :-)

From: purrfect-kat Date: June 15, 2003 at 14:09
This band just keeps getting better . . . . From start to Finish another Great effort from this cool band.

From: Mikhail Date: June 16, 2003 at 4:30
Great Album !!!! Great Band !!!

From: Rycheage Date: July 28, 2003 at 19:44
Above all style and heaviness issues, the main aspect of the album's strength's are it's songs. While they are fairly restrained as far as rockers go, the quality shines through and should see most fans of the band pleased. This album also has a chance to pick up new fans, as I believe their sound is less European then ever and will appeal to a broad spectrum of melodic rock fans.

From: BRU Date: August 1, 2003 at 12:06
Since today is the best melodic album I heard in the last 5 years! Thanks so much Gotthard

From: Edilson Brasil Date: August 5, 2003 at 10:37
The last album of the band. The Best lbum that i heard in this year.Good songs!! Top of The World, What Can I Do (beautiful), Human Zoo, Where I Belong... Thank You Gotthard!!!!

From: Brian Date: August 9, 2003 at 0:24
Now I have heard real hard rock before and this Cd is one of the best I have heard in a long time.Yes it is a bit mellow but thats rock for you.Not every song has to ring your eyes.....lol From a scale of 1 - 10 I would rate this cd a 9. Great CD as always

From: John Date: August 14, 2003 at 13:28
What's it going to take to get a song like 'What I Like' or 'Human Zoo' onto the US radio airwaves? This disc is worth the price for those first two songs. Impeccably produced again just like the previous albums. Steve Lee has a unique, powerful voice.

From: Dani Date: September 8, 2003 at 7:32
A great bunch of songs, in the style of their 2 previous albums, but I miss one thing: the guitar solos!!!!

From: vandervelde Date: September 27, 2003 at 11:57
I don't know what i suppose to do with tis record. It's too light for me....OPEN i like....even very much....but this...i don't know....it's not a crap but to be honest their weakness album to date.... This has nothing in common with HOMERUN ....i know HUMAN ZOO sales rather good but i think it's wrong direction....maybe i will change my mind...

Great Dane is bullshit! The Beatles are the biggest pile of shit ever! Gotthard are ten times better.

As a former pro musician myself, the thing about this band is they can flat out PLAY, and it's never been more evident. The lead vocals are absolute perfect-pitch throughout, and the riffs are as good as any unplugged recording....by Anyone! I had no idea they could recreate their studio harmonies with such precision. Anyone being hard on this CD is someone with a "Lillian Axe" to grind, who is into heavy, without appreciation for what it sounds like backstage, in the songwriting process. A+

From: The Guru Date: April 23, 2004 at 18:03
Actually, BRAIN FREEZE! I was talking about "D Frosted" (live), not Human Zoo in my comments. That's what I get for flipping pages too fast. Human Zoo is good, not great...Home Run and G are both superior overall, with much more depth than their debut & early stuff. But if you can locate D Frosted, and appreciate the craft of playing live, get it, put on your headphones, set an icy cooler with a 6-pack next to your comfy chair, turn the lights out, and enjoy....

From: Big Papa K Date: June 13, 2004 at 1:40
Wow, they turned the guitars back up again. At least for the opening tune. "What I Like" might be the bands best song ever and "On Top Of The World" is a song you wish Gotthard would write more in the style of. A good comeback after the dissapointment of the last one. 8/10

From: DENIS (BRAZIL) Date: June 22, 2004 at 18:56
This is their best album definitely! ALL songs are great, it has the most beautiful ballads theyve ever written and there are many hard rock songs in it too! Why is it their best? Well, it is original and Steve Lee is totally free from his Coverdales style, that is, hes being himself, which is great! Besides, their criativity is impressive! THIS CD IS A MUST ITEM FOR ANY HARDROCK/AOR FAN! WARNING: ITS ADDICTIVE! P.S.: THIS GOES FOR THE MORONS ON LINE: IF YOU THOUGHT GOTTHARD WOULD WASTE THEI

From: DENIS (BRAZIL) Date: June 22, 2004 at 18:59
continuation: ...WASTE THEIR TIME ON ANOTHER FIRST ALBUM, YOU WERE WAY TOO FAR! MUSICIANS GROW AS PROFESSIONALS, SO GROW AS HARDROCK FANS TOO!

From: Aussie Dave Date: October 6, 2004 at 21:49
Actually i can comment on this album without the knowledge of their back catalogue(which i will rush out and grab a.s.a.p.)This is just a great hard rock album in the same vein as late Bon Jovi! Steve Lee has a great voice, and the band back him up beautifully! Best songs for me are the first four tracks, plus Still I Belong To You!!! Great cd. 8/10.....

From: Geoff Date: January 20, 2005 at 4:08
Like the previous release, this is excellent! 'Top of the World' is a great hard rocker, 'Still I Belong to You' is a sensational track- a gem of sorts, 'One in a Million' is melodic hard rock perfection and just done so well.'No Tomorrow' is a brilliant stand out, 'Where I Belong' is a high quality rocking gem, and 'What Can I Do' is a beautiful ballad. Killer production, great ballsy sound (Why do so many say these guys are so soft???) and most importantly, very high quality songs. Great band!

From: z4roxx Date: January 20, 2005 at 20:10
Geoff, totally agreed with you,but I would add only one thing:the Gotthard explosion was been with these 2 last releases, more originality, pure class touch in songs/production,they've discovered a new sensational style I think...Before these 2 last"MASTERPIECE"pieces, they were a good kick ass band how there were many others at the star of the 90's.

From: Geoff Date: January 23, 2005 at 7:07
Agree 100 percent with you there z4roxx. I love the debut, but definately feel the latest two albums are their best. The song writing gets more excellent as they progress and the last two are easily the highlights in their collection for me. That's why it annoys me when people say they went soft, because although I also liked the straight ahead hard rock CDs they made, I much prefer the varied pace/style of songs these days. Quality stuff.

From: z4roxx Date: January 23, 2005 at 18:52
Geoff, agree again with you. They are now soft for some people??What an awesome softy piece of heaven!!!!!!Yeah, debut is good, not great,IMO but in that cd Stevve Lee is simply superb! An awesome voice mixed up with the rest make a great result as well...

From: capdevilla Date: February 12, 2005 at 9:27
Good album but not the best (I prefer "the first" and "Dial Hard"). Gotthard could come back with energy Rock similar his debut career. Now : too commercial !!!

From: z4roxx Date: February 25, 2005 at 21:53
Another monster release!!Wow!!Immense band!Production is a little inferior than the previous but...that's pure geniality class melodick rock!Gotthard one of the finest bands still active in the world!!!!!Another 10/10!!

From: Joan Date: February 26, 2005 at 7:45

From: orietto Date: February 27, 2005 at 18:21
hmmmm...heard about it so bad release on the press that i've never wanted to listen it but here it seems to be great....?????

From: z4roxx Date: February 27, 2005 at 19:16
Dai Orietto capolavoro assoluto, uno dei pi bei cd sentiti negli ultimi anni,e"Homerun" ancora meglio!!!W i Gotthard, prima a parer mio facevan cagare ahahahaha

From: Knuckles Date: February 28, 2005 at 10:21
Orietto, the issue is this release is a bit more mello than some of the previous releases, but I like it.

From: Jordi Date: March 22, 2005 at 10:25

From: Joan Date: March 22, 2005 at 12:33

From: Lovedrive Date: June 2, 2005 at 7:33

From: mauricio Date: October 17, 2005 at 18:18

From: Lennie Date: February 10, 2006 at 8:05
There are some fine moments on this album. 'One in a Million' is a great rocker and a standout is 'Still I belong to You'...just love that chorus! Gotthard have gone on to better this with 'Lip Service' but this is worth having as the song writing is of a good quality throughout. Other highlights for me are 'Top of the World' and 'Where I Belong'. 8/10

From: Figge Date: March 9, 2006 at 18:03
Really, really good band. Quality all the way...this album is a little too mellow and laid back though. "Top Of The World" and "What I Like" are two MONSTER songs though. If the album held this quality all through it would've been a hard one to beat.

From: Pablo UK Date: May 16, 2006 at 16:33
I agree totally with Figge. "What I Like" is an absolute scorcher of a track. Can't put my finger on what it is about this song. I guess it's one of those tunes that embeds itself in your brain and and just keeps playing itself over and over again. I've only just obtained this album and, although I've spun it a dozen times, I just can't seem to get past tracks 2 & 3. I wish now that I had a copy of "Have A Little Faith" at the the time of our wedding... it would've been our first dance!!!!

From: YNGWIEVIKING Date: September 22, 2007 at 3:22
GOOD CD NOT the best !!! Only killer songs !/ GREAT AOR/ HARD ROCK with a terrific sense of melody STEVE LEE is one of the TOP 10 singer ever !!!honey for your METAL EARS ! 86/100

From: hernanHRM/AOR Date: November 2, 2007 at 20:00
"Human Zoo" es identico al "Never Again" de NIckelback claro el stylo el sonido jaja que curioso, bueno otro buen trabajo de Gotthard claro ahora con toques Melodicos y frescos en sus cortes un buen trabajo de Gotthard

From: rallen399 Date: May 14, 2008 at 18:29
Not one of their best cd's but some stand outs like Long way Down,Top Of The World and No Tomorrow.

From: elljam Date: December 30, 2011 at 8:22
A sign that they were returning to form which was fully proven with "Lipservice" & "Domino Effect" after this. Strong songwriting but probably too many ballads, although most are good. "Top of the world" is a great rocker but for me "What I like" is pure class & the stand out track.

From: hair metal again Date: June 15, 2012 at 6:49
fantastic release for GOTTHARD and probably my fav of them!all the songs are full of hooks and great melodies and the whole result is top class!"one in a million","have a little faith","first time in a long time"!must have for every hard rocker!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: September 10, 2012 at 20:45
Is hard to say that a Gotthard release is bad...for me this one is a goodie but somehow it missed that extra punch that the guys have always delivered in their releases...in here you have some great tunes in the shape of "Human Zoo","Have A Little Faith"(beautiful song),"Top Of The World","Still I Belong To You"(nice),"One In A Million"(great!),"First Time In A Long Time"(nice),"Where I Belong","What Can I Do"(very nice)& "Never Surrender"(catchy japanese B/T)...probably the album has lots of ballads and somehow turned down some listeners but still manages to get us through it quite good, not their most efficient album but a good one to have anyway...86/100

From: 123charpenay Date: September 12, 2012 at 13:43
the more smart and fine album from gotthard.maybe too much ballads.but a super class record with my fave s gotthard song "top of the world".we are on the top of the world with this fabulous record.a perfect follow up to the two last a o r albums.the suite" lipservice" is a real bonfire of melodic rock.

From: Doug Date: September 26, 2018 at 12:22
Picked this up to the other day, man, Steve Lee was such a great singer.
