I can't find the words to describe this album.According to me this album is the best AOR album. You can't choose which song is the best in this album.Because all songs are wonderful. When you start to listen songs from this album,be sure you'll go to another place from this world. You'll hear incredible romantic AOR songs. For example,'The Last Time' and 'Never Be A Next Time'. As to Mark Free's voice,His voice is a magic. If you haven't this album, buy it at once.Don't miss it.Because you'll have the

Have any of the above actually listened to this album? It is a badly recorded peace of junk. Buy the debut Unruly Child and/ or the Signal album instead.

Can't agree more !!!!!

From: TIM (2) Date: May 27, 2004 at 6:46
Is such a shame we won't ever hear Mark/Marcie on record again, awesome voice. The sound quality was poor but this is just a collection of demos. 'Stranger Among Us' has one of the greatest vocal performances ever, would love to hear some other vocalists try and hit those notes...

From: giorgos-greece Date: July 12, 2004 at 18:33
AOR MASTERPIECE THIS IS ! No big words folks ,it's true.Maybe the best songwriting (included on a single album), along with a fantastic 'made for AOR' voice.Lack of strong guitar sound is a minus though ,because it makes the style too much westcoast. If the production could 'push' guitars up a bit ,the album would be flawless. No comment about his/her personal life...it's just a petty because such a talent had a lot more to give...BE GOOD TO YOURSELF:BUY THIS CD !

From: Kristian Date: July 19, 2004 at 23:32
This is a magic album. Especially the cover on FM:s Someday you'll come running is electrifying. A must have for all AOR fans!

From: UnrulyChild Date: August 5, 2004 at 9:46
I'm From Greece! I Hardly found a copy of this AOR Precious Diamond!!!Don't Miss It!If You Find It Get It...You Will Hear What AOR Is All About!!!

From: Geoff Date: August 26, 2004 at 21:07
I just cannot ignore the drum machine, but more to the point I cannot ignore the might of Mark Free's voice. A couple of the songs are a bit too lightweight, but the always magnificent 'Someday you'll come running', 'Hard heart to break', 'Never be a next time' and the great title track sort it out. Okay, I'll just admit it! I really dig this CD! Great stuff. Damn drum machine...

May I just take a moment to thank you all for the incredible heartfelt appreciation you have expressed here on this website to me and for the Long Way From Love album. It along with Robin and Judithe Randall deserves all the credit. I am just the voice. A voice without a song is nothing. I love you all. And I wish for you all a very long and happy life. All my love truly, Marcie Free xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox

Dear Marcie,I was waitin'a your reply since many years! You're THE VOICE and stop!Maybe the finest voice in aor in my opinion, really true emotions when I hear you in your solo cd,or in Signal or Unruly Child cd's!!!Thanx Marcie for these true real emotions!!Obviously also the music is awesome but I must say you that these tracks without your incredible voice maybe should sound in a different way...W M.FREE!!Greetings from Italy and from some of friends of mine, too!!

From: Wachen Date: March 20, 2005 at 6:13
This is the definitive AOR-record of them all! Mark (nowadays Marcie)sings like a God and the songs are very well written keyboardish 80's-sounding stuff! 'Someday you'll come running' will always be in my Top 5!

From: Rockhead Date: March 20, 2005 at 11:38
The reason Mark Free isnt huge is cos he snipped his nads off and became a woman-most of the known world would not take him/her seriously. A shame because regardless of Marcie's personal issues he/she had/has one hell of a voice.

From: P@trik Date: March 27, 2005 at 11:09
After Walk in the fire with Strangeways this must be the best aor record ever accept cliff magness solo/Planet 3.

From: Dorothea Date: April 13, 2005 at 6:53
No words to express the quality of Marcie's voice. No words to express how this album makes me feel. Marcie: you're just GREAT and the best voice ever!! Uhm, Rockhead, we're livin' in the 21st century, so body, change your mind at once!!

From: Dorothea Date: April 13, 2005 at 6:58

I think the general consensus on this one is a big thumbs up, and I will certainly not argue with that as there are Some truly fabulous songs on this. My only minor quibble is that it doesn't exactly sound a million dollars, although as TIM(2) states it is only demo's. If this had had the recording budget of the Signal and Unruly Child albums, then i would go so far as to say that this would have come out ontop and I love those two albums with a passion.

From: Axe-Machine Date: December 19, 2005 at 19:36
Unbelievable performance of some classy songs by our old friends in song, the Randall girls. Wonderfully crafted album, which sounds amazing for a set of enhanced demos. Certainly up their with the best that Mark ever produced. Magic! 10/10!

From: SCANDI Date: April 13, 2006 at 9:02
I never liked this album too much. Maybe it's 'cos I don't get into Signal's Loud & Clear. The other tratemarks of Mark I haven't ever listened to (Unruly Child, King Kobra). Maybe I should give especially the first Unruly Child a chance..?! To this one: I think the last and title track alone makes this worth the buy. Such an AMAZING ballad!! 7,6/10

From: Theo-GR Date: April 23, 2006 at 6:19
I have heard one song from this album- 'Someday You'll Come Running' and with no hesitation,i'll give this album a perfect 10.If someone can help me find this album please e-mail me,i am desperate!!! (Same with the Unruly Child debut)This guy is probably one of the best voices in the history of rock..

From: Theo-GR Date: April 23, 2006 at 6:21

TWO WORDS: M.A.S.T.E.R P.I.E.C.E.

From: Knighthawk Date: February 5, 2007 at 18:09
One of the greatest AOR albums around. Although it sounds (it actualy is) like a bunch of demo's, the songs are superb. Songs like Never Be a Next Time, Hard Heart to Break and Stranger Among Us stand out and are really smooth-going AOR classics. Slow Down the Night is even better (except for the fake drums lol) but The Last Time is defenitly the best song of the album. You can simply feel the emotion surrounding the song. Mark Free won't make any new stuff, but check for King Kobra too.

From: rocknroll Date: March 12, 2007 at 18:33
Someday You'll Come Running is a FM cover, not Signal.

From: Dorothea Date: March 29, 2007 at 17:10
Someday You'll come Running was sung by Mark Free in the very first place. He was hired to sing that demo, which was written by the amazing AOR songwriters Judith and Robin Randall. The very first version of the song was sung by Mark Free.

From: AORster Date: July 10, 2007 at 18:08
Love this to death! A great album that was made even better with the bonus CD. BTW does anyone know what has happend to Marcies web page, www.marciefree.com?

From: Baltasar Date: July 31, 2007 at 18:54
Fantastic Release... Superb voice... Mark Free it's a nice voice... A lot of good music you can find in this CD...

From: Figge Date: August 6, 2007 at 18:14
One of the best vocalist I've ever heard. I simply love his voice and this album is no exception in that aspect. Some truly amazing songs on the disc and had it not been for the not so great production it would've been among the absolute best melodic rock/AOR albums ever. A little too lightweighted recording with a quite programmed and sterile feel. Great album nonetheless.

From: Dorothea Date: August 26, 2007 at 20:45
AORster, Marcie Free website is being redesigned at the moment. It should be back soon

the best.... i agree...Marks vocals are simply the best...

From: jstoyz Date: January 1, 2009 at 21:44
I really can't add anything to all of the above praise of this album that hasn't been more eloquently said already, but it's so damn good I had to leave a brief comment as well. Put a full, lush production underneath these songs and this vocalist and....well, guess we'll never know, but I'm very to have this recording at least....Marcie Free's solo album is very good as well IMO, magnificent recording artist.....Jeff.

From: petermexico Date: June 6, 2009 at 23:31
You're the best! All of your work is fantastic, You're the best singer in the U.S.A.! I love each and every work that you're involved. Soy el fan n'mero 1 en M'xico! Mark o Marcie siempre genial!

From: CMGio Date: April 10, 2010 at 18:01
This is easily one of the best AOR records I have ever heard. Mark Free has such an amazing, powerful voice. I absolutely LOVE this album. The only low point, if you could even call it that, is 'High Life,' which I just never got into. Still a pretty killer track, though.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: June 4, 2010 at 22:01
Yeah this album roars like a wild lion!...Mark (now Marcie) is one of the best melodic rock /AOR singers around and that's unquestionable..this Long Way From Love is amazing,'Someday You'll Come Running To Me' is a classic song,'Stranger Among Us','The Lst Time' among others are quality top notch tracks and about the especial bonus disc is an excellent option to hear him singing like an angel..songs from Signal,Unruly Child and King Kobra are played here live(from track 1 to 10 is a live concert)then the last 6 tracks are studio ones which are just fantastic especial mention in 'State Of Love' that is a duet song with Diana DeWitt from Venus And Mars fame..an album to grab like if it was gold!.95/100

From: juan carlos Date: June 4, 2010 at 22:46
Yeah Geoff, Damn Drum machine! but my 'little' complaint is about guitar solos, then this one is a Marvelous AOR album from start to finish. My favorite songs are: 'Never Be a Next Time' and 'State of Love' perfect AOR! 'Smokes and Mirrors' is my favorite song from CD2. Awesome voice Mark Free! 9.7/10

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: June 4, 2010 at 23:32

From: petermexico13 Date: July 24, 2013 at 15:01
Just one of the Best Voices in Rock! Mark/Marcie Free is my American favourite singer along with Tony Harnell, this album is great from start to finish (The best is the 1998s 2cd version from Frontiers). Great Vocals, Great Songs....with a little more production this album deserves 100 rating. Bravo Marcie Free!

From: edwithmj Date: December 5, 2014 at 8:08
This still has Mark Free's great voice but the songs and style lack the power of Signal and Unruly Child. I can't understand why so many were against Michael Bolton's Soul Provider being on here when this is actually a lot weaker I think. The only song I can take away from this is Coming Back For More as the rest is quite forgettable. If you like Mark Free becoming a bad Michael Bolton contemporary, get it.

From: titothetitan Date: November 17, 2017 at 14:23
This is a collection of demos that Mark recorded in the late 80's combined with a weak production. Mark sings really well but the production paled the songs a bit. 'High Life' sounds totally displaced and the drum sound is awful. In fact, the drum machine throughout the album is painful. 'Someday' is a song written by some of his buddies and then recorded by FM and then Mark. Disc #2 is his live show recorded in Manchester, England. The setlist and sound differs from the bootleg Dvd. Also, a song is missing: 'Arms of a Stranger'.
