I love Fate, always have. I was always going to like this album, but I have to admit I was really thrown off by the vocals. Imagine Foolish Pleasure or Nevada Beach and you'll get a good picture of what happened to Per's vocal chords. 'Everything about you' is about the only track where I see any resemblance to the Per of old. So, with initial disappointments out of the way, I must say that aside from the vocals, the songs are awesome. No more tongue-in-cheek lyrics of old, but the songs are sti

...the songs are still very good. 'I'll get by' is a stunning track, with some haunting backing vocals. Easily my favourite track. 'Nobody Loves You The Way I Do', 'Burned Child' and 'Toxic' are some of my other faves, but there's not really a dud track on this disc. A very good, high quality album. Great to hear the band back!

Vox good or not. I still have to order this one Geoff !

After one release, I can honestly as a say that I'm highly disappointed by this release. The vocals are pretty bad, and the quality of the songs is just above average for a Fate album. in my opinion. If you're a fan of Fate, the odds are that you won't be satisfied with this release. If you don't know the band at all, then give it a shot.

Looks like I posted my message while I was editing it. Damn tab key. Anyway, the first sentence is as follow : 'After one listen, I can honestly say, as a fan, that I'm highly disappointed by this release'.

Once you get you head around Per's 'New' vocal style, then It all becomes pretty familiar, although it does have that 'Darker' feel to it with a more beefed up guitar sound as well. The best tracks, with the exception of 'Memories Won't Die', come in the first half & it is very difficult to recommend one over the other as they are All excellent. There are a couple of fillers on show, but even those are pretty good & don't detract from the album overall.

Special mention must also go to Tommy Hansen's production on this as it really does go to prove that you can make a fantastic sounding album in this day and age - other producers take note. 'V' is Most definately not the disappointment I was expecting, although it does take a a few spins to get your head & ears around the vocals. For me an album that already has it's top 10 placing confirmed come the 'Best of..' lists years end.

If there ever was an award for worst vocal on a recording than this would win hands down!

Now here's this years best cd along with House of Lords new album, GREAT GREAT Melodic Hard Rock at its best! Real 80's hard rock, keep on rocking Fate, like u always have!

From: 80's Hard Rock Date: May 30, 2006 at 7:19
I must say that I don't understand why a lot of you guys think that the vox on this cd are not so good! I think Per is a really good singer, I love his vocals, they sound much more edgier then before, it's a really good rock voice! Anyway, now when I've listened to the cd quite many times I have realized that this cd is the best melodic hard rock cd to come out in the 2000 century! This is simply the best melodic hard rock cd that I've heard for a VERY long time! A must have for every hardrocker

Magnificent album even with the new vocal style, it's just a little different but nothing to turn you off of this album. I like the whole album very much and rate it a 9/10. Give it a chance and you won't be disappointed.

From: Erik Date: June 1, 2006 at 13:07
Fantastic to see them back. And not just because of that. Excellent release. And , like Jezz mentioned, when you are used to Pers voice what you get is a top 10 album in 2006 (for me that is ). Gets better by every spin. 9/10

From: prowler Date: June 20, 2006 at 12:07
really good album. heavy and melodic. i bought it and i'm satisfied. not a single bad song. higly recomended. i suppose it will be one of the best of 2006. this album proves that melodic rock is still alive and creative. keep rockin' guys!

From: sluss528 Date: June 24, 2006 at 2:20
ok ,just got this one and it fucking rocks!!! the only fate cd i have is scratch and sniff and i like this one a lot better! the guitars were way over the top and did not fit the songs as well.this per dude has some fucking pipes! yes he does sing different here than on scratch n sniff ,i think better. here he sounds like a cross between metal church wayne era and udo! 9/10

I think this is a great return from this danish band. My favourite songs: 'I'll get by' 'Burned child' 'Memories won't die' and 'Toxik'. Why so long since their last cd?. Terrific guitars killer voice and impressive melodies!!!!

As soon as i heard the vocals, i could have sworn that Heavy Pettin's vocalist Stevie Hayman was singing on these tracks. Although Johansson's voice is similar, i do not have a problem with his voice as some do. It's great to hear a Metal vocalist that can wail out and hold out the notes these days. Well Done!

From: juan carlos Date: January 7, 2009 at 17:28
If you do not have a problem with Johansson's voice(Me neither), you'll love this. Great Melodic HardRock indeed. 'I'll Get By' is a fantastic track and one of the best songs here.. As Erik said.. 'V' gets better by every spin and That's for sure. 9/10

From: lalo r.o.c.k. Date: August 12, 2009 at 23:44
Melodic Hard Rock with killer guitars and the voice, the raspy voice of Per Johansson blow you away, and the songs:I'll get by,Butterfly are my favorites, good album but not like the classic Scratch'n sniff,8/10.

From: z4roxx Date: August 21, 2009 at 15:28
I want say here 3 things.FIRST:I am against/very unfair about any kind of reunions.SECOND:Songs here are awesome.THIRD:This isn't a Fate album because the oldest member here would be the bass player from 'Cruisin'for a bruisin''and 'Scratch'n'sniff'albums. So this isn't really a Fate reunion but the cd is under the name of Fate.So it's a big plague. But I think I'll track down a copy because it's high quality music here.

From: zoop Date: August 22, 2009 at 11:59
according to their site the bass player peter steiner/steinke was actually a founding member so he played on the debut and a matter of attitude as well so i guess this can still be called a fate release.

From: z4roxx Date: August 22, 2009 at 12:50
Let's correct but in the site there are more mistakes. If you click on his name didn't feature in the first 2 discs,I can't check all, only check from the site before write my comment.BTW the cd is a must.I think they did use alternative names ad many musicians usually do,I don't know why...

From: andi Date: January 1, 2011 at 9:49
HELLO! and again, some people can not distinguish good album from a bad album, or a good singer from a bad one! This album is simply amazing! Almost as good as the 'Srach 'n Sniff' album! The singer is in contrast to the earlier boring albums just great! melodic hard rock as indicated above, this disc fortunately not! This is pure genius melodic METAL how I like it! the singer is awesome Per Johansson! from him that I would buy every album where he sings! also the 'Sratch 'n Sniff' vocalist Per Henriksen! people is when their boring FATE to earlier music such as 'A Matter of Addiutte' or pop singles such as 'Lovers' then you must read in an AOR or pop for that page here Melodic metal is brilliant!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: November 9, 2012 at 20:25
Not a very solid album IMO...some good tracks but nothing to kill for...those goodies to me were "Heaven's Crying Too"(rocks!),"Nobody Loves You The Way I Do"(very nice chorus),"Burned Child","I'll Get By"(AOR feel),"Fate"(some Prog moves here & there, especially towards the end of the song)& "Toxic"...83/100

From: hair metal again Date: September 10, 2015 at 1:44
very good release by FATE once again in their own unique style with songs that keep the interest in a high level ,full of hooks and "unususal" lines, plenty back vocals and big choruses!i d like the solos to be better ,but overall V will satisfy all FATE fans ,as its faithful to their legacy!recommended

From: hadipet66 Date: September 24, 2015 at 12:36
..super songwriting here..no doubt...my fave...

From: 707STAR Date: May 12, 2016 at 23:23
