Kelly Hansen is a true great! Can't imagine a better replacement for Lou & Foreigner's legacy.

From: rallen399 Date: October 24, 2009 at 4:54
These guys sound as good as ever adding Kelly Hansen and Jeff Pilson was brilliant. The new stuff is great and the old stuff never sounded better. At first I thought no one could replace Lou Gramm but Kelly is as good or better,I love it keep rockin guys.

Another of the classic bands returns for a new album in 2009 and once again, very impressive it is. Song quality is most definitely very high on this, with the ballads being to the fore 'When It Comes To Love' is especially good and probably my fave track on here. The 'Rockers' are good aswell, albeit typical Foreigner fare in places. Even with only Mick Jones remaining from the original lineup, you most definitely know who you are listening to. Kelly Hansen is the spitting image of the mighty Lou Gramm in places and I sometimes had to pinch myself to remind me it wasn't Lou singing he is that close on occassions. Production is very nice, without overdoing the 'Slick' and overall this is another disc that gets a big thumbs up. Special mention to the fantastic Remixes disc that comes with the 3 disc package. Never have the Foreigner 'classics' sounded this good and crisp before.

I've always been a fan of Kelly Hansen and I agree that he does a great job stepping up to the mic for Foreigner. The new material is pretty good and has that traditional Foreigner sound. I'm glad they opened it up with the rockin' tune "Can't Slow Down". "In Pieces" has to be my favorite off this one. Kelly also does an amazing job on the second disc composed of classic Foreigner hits. I agree with Jez about having to pinch myself to remind me it wasn't Lou singing. All in all, I am happy to see this great band put out new material but still keep that traditional sound. They don't cave in and go for the modern sound approach. They stick with what works for them.

Kelly is NOT singing on the second disc. It contains remixes from original master tapes with original performances.

What does Foreigner and Journey have in common???..well both bands have selected the right man on the mic!... Kelly Hansen was an underrated singer (different to Arnel Pineda that was a completely unknown until now) in Kelly's case,he had a past with Hurricane(great 80's Hard Rock act)and never got the recognition he deserved(neither the band)but it seems that his music career is having a new chance in here!..well about this album, the comparisson with the one and only Lou Gramm in certain songs is inevitable but the man did his job excellently and overall keeping his personality(about the way he sings i mean)...about the songs, tracks 1,2,3,7,12 and 13(this last one with that great rhythm and blues) are top notch tracks!..in general lines all the songs are worth tons!!..a perfect mix of ballads and rockers...a very and highly recommendable release!.97/100...(cd 2 are classics from the original master tapes like tentacle wrote)

outstanding release by the mighty FOREIGNER through times that most of new hard rock releases sound like heavy metal.well this one is updated but also hard rockin and got the expected hooks.kelly is once again amazing, mick in a more smooth operation and marti did an excellent job here.many good songs like "when it comes to love", "in pieces"," give me a sign" and "i ll be home tonight".brilliant!

Kelly Hansen fills in admirably. Check out the DVD with this one. Line up with Hansen is also Jeff Pilson from Dokken. Tichy on drums came in just after Bonham left. They all inject energy and performance to the band.

Kelly Hansen does a wonderful job on this album but I think "Can't Slow Down" is not up to the level of the Foreigner classics. There are several very poor songs although "I'll Be Home Tonight" is one of his best tracks.

Wow..this is now 13 years old..in 2022..... my biggsst critisism...why 13 years???? and no more original material.... .... well...Jeff Pilson just announced..new material being recorded....so we shall see Meantime this is a killer album.... prime time..and well up there with the best Foreigner stuff. Hansen slays it..just as he does live....I love Gramm..but truth is after his illness he was never the same singer... Bonus..Hansen is the ultimate live performer too. No fillers on this album......writing is excellent and production equals the heady prime time days of mid 80s ..tghe special edition comes with bonus live dvd and hits re recorded.... what is there not to like??

The harsh reality of it is, why would a band like Foreigner, comprised of guys in their 50's, at least, and whose heyday ended in 1988—why would those guys bust their asses to keep cranking out new music that quite frankly only a small majority of people will hear or care about? People will sit patiently through a new song or two at a show (if they don't hit the bathroom or the beer line), but that's not really what they came to hear. People want to remember being young in a time that they imagine was kinder and gentler than the present. I understand it. I just turned 42 last week; much as I try to rebel against it, I understand it. Those "happy golden days of yore" ain't coming back, friends and neighbors.

I meant "small minority," obviously.
