This group puts out hit after hit on any of their releases. You can't go wrong with any of their stuff. If you don't have any, well all you have to do is try one and you'll be hooked.

This is one of the best albums I've ever heard. There is not one only mediocre song, they're all great catchy tunes. Vocals and Guitars among the best ever done in hard rock!

Great CD in the Scorpions/PC69 tradition. I would not call it AOR. It is more hard rock to me. This band has one hell of a singer, and the catchy guitars to match.

Solid hard rock that leans toward AOR. Some great ballads, but it could use some more rockers.

I absolutely Love this cd, amazing. It is similar to the fantastic Fireworks album by Bonfire. They sound similar to Bonfire, especially the vocals, but have their own originality. Top class melodic europeon rock. Just listen to Longing for Love, Crazy and take me up and you will be hooked on Fair warning. An absolute must for any die hard melodic rock fan. Jay from Australia.

If you think all kind of attempt in getting the perfect, beutiful, touching melodic rock sound, I think nothing can ever beat 'The Heat Of Emotion'. That song got it all in 3 minutes long. Just Rippin' !!!

oh god!!...nothing in the world has prepared us for this!!,what you get here is a very high class release of bombastic melodic rock that rivals both : bonfire 'fireworks' & mad max 'night of passion' for the best melodic rock album ever to come out of germany.the following albums are also excellent but somehow they lack the magic of that first album.dont let this album pass you by and get it pronto! you'll love it to death!.

If there's a better rock album ever that's come from Germany then I haven't heard it. Bonfire, Jaded Heart, Frontline etc are all great bands but never produced one as consistent as this. 'When Love Fails' is my fave track, but this is huge hook-laden melodic rock with some killer ballads, and a better version of 'Heat of Emotion' than Zeno could manage. All Fair Warning's albums are excellent, but this was never quite beaten.

Bonfire's Fireworks gives this a run for its money!!
|
From: TIM (2) |
Date: June 29, 2004 at 9:43 |
Agreed Rockhead. I wouldn't say EVERY track on 'Fireworks' was a killer, but it is close. As is ROKO's first. Close as they are, they're not THIS good.
|
From: Rocker76 |

I'm with Rockhead on this one. As good as Fair Warning are, they are no match for Bonfire. Bonfire's first 2 records are unbelievable (and the 3rd one is right up there) and totally outrock anything Fair Warning did. Don't get me wrong..I love Fair Warning and their debut is a great great melodic rock album. But there is absolutely no comparison - Bonfire wins hands down.
|
From: Rockhead |
Date: June 29, 2004 at 13:39 |
And I am in agreement with Rocker76 in that Frontline are much more consistent. State of Rock and Heroes are right up there with Fair Warning. Again I love Fair Warning but they are a little hit and miss. Victory's Culture Killed The Native and YOu Bought It You Name It are also excellent Germanic slabs of melodic rock.
|
From: TIM (2) |
Date: June 30, 2004 at 7:59 |
Guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one, as I'd take F.W over Bonfire myself. Victory are a good shout (although I personally find their songs a little samey), and 'State of Rock' is classy stuff, but I'd probably take F.W's 'Go' and '4' over them both. On a more obscure note, Ocksenknecht had a great debut CD of mostly Mark Spiro written tracks that is pretty special too if you can find this...
|
From: Rocker76 |
Date: July 2, 2004 at 9:33 |
FW certainly set the bar way high for themselves on this debut. Killer tracks such as 'One Step Closer' and 'Take a Look at the Future' display the AOR/melodic genius that was possible for FW to create. They reinforce that ability with 'Long Gone', 'Out on the Run', 'When Love Fails', and 'Longing for Love'. Not a really weak track on this record (some weaker than others). Newer fans of FW should def. start with the S/T and relish what they hear. FW never reach this plateau again.

From: TIM (2) |

Well said Rocker76! Dreamtide never got near this either (or haven't so far..), and be careful with the V2 stuff too as it doesn't have the melody of the Fair Warning S/T. This is certainly the best Tommy Heart ever sounded...

This is good melodic hard rock. Maybe my favourite Fair Warning CD, but I can't be sure. I like the guys, but unfortunately they just never blew my mind. 'Heat of emotion' is great but I probably prefer the Zeno version. Yeah, it's good but not much more than that IMO...

I have all four studio albums by this great band and although this one comes in at number four the cd is a fine listen. The other three albums do not sound as dated as this one.Tommy Heart is a fine vocalist. Some people have compared ROKO's debut with this cd.Although this FAIR WARNING cd is good it would not beat the filler free ROKO S/T cd which is one of the greatest cds of all time in my book. When love fails, one step closer and out on the run are fine songs.A good cd overall.

Unfortunately, the class of Fair Warnings catalog begins and ends here. This album is a pure slice of bombastic AOR, but after this one they went too soft. This album however is class and worth the import price for the first track alone! Recommended.

Worth the money for Longing For Love and The Heat Of Emotion alone, although the whole album is strong enough and classy enough to enter the 'All Time Classic' Category. Top Notch AOR.

'the best cd of AOR/hard rock i ever had' a lot of you guys say!!! are you crazy? this is not bad it's as good as the best of bonfire and similar stuff (a problem with german bands : they always sound german). Saying this your forgeting in terms of AOR bands like: Giant,Danger Danger, firehouse, hardline, tyketto, journey etc... In terms of hard rock (and here is the complete stupidity) do you remember when you say: the best band (fair warning), bands like: thin lizzy, whitesnake, led zepplin,ac-dc

So that other people that are beggining to hear hard rock don't get junk for gold, because of your comments! PS.. why do i have the right to say this??? because i've been in rock since 1977. (not as long as the Stones but enough to say what i'm saying!!! LOL)

After listening mainly to hi tech acts in the last couple of month I thrown in this into my stereo, and yep --it's one of the best album in melodic rock that's for sure. Very powerful and yet so melodic and not too 'hard'. Good mix of ballads and rockers here, while it's not easy to seperate songs to give as references

I wouldnot say maybe the best ever record to come out of Germany, Boysvoice, Vice, Coracko, 48 Crash might have something to say againt that . I'd say one of the 10 best cd's to come from Germany This is one cracking melodic rock cd. For me their finest effort. Excellent song, great hooks and chorusses. Yep i like it a lot ! Longing for Love, When love Fails, Crazy,One step Closer, The eyes of Rock, Take a look at the future, The heat of Emotion r for me the best songs. 92/100

It's fair to say that this is a classic European melodic hard rock album, as essential to fans of the genre as meat is to a carnivor. This CD should come with a warning to only be handled while wearing protective gloves due to it being packed with so many razor-sharp hooks. The Bonfire comparisons are bang-on (though I prefer Bonfire) and any fan of that band should devour this release like a starving Ethiopian at the Golden Corral buffet.

exceptional first effort.in 1992 at the start of the rotten grunge wawe ,fair warning have the balls to make a record hyper melodic.this jewel was in 1992 totally out of fashion.beautiful mélodies, irresistibles choruses, sensational singer, big sound, superb and powerfull production.this record is a must have for all hard f m lovers.i recommand the japan import cause there is two bonus tracks track 13 a ballad and track 14 a top class a o r song.

I agree with all the positive comments. What an amazing album! Filled with catchy songs, killer guitars, and an outstanding singer. 'The Heat of Emotion' is the best song, it sounds better than the Zeno version and I always loved Zeno! Production is great too. Tracks 2,3,5,7,11 are my favourites. If you love the band then look for the 'Live in Japan' Dvd.

Simply the best melodic release that ever came out of my homeland germany - and I know them all. This is a classic, not a single filler in sight. Great vocals by Tommy Heart and fantastic musicianship. What a tragedy that Helge died a few days ago. Don't think they will ever tour again.

How can anyone call it an AOR? Typical AOR is e.g. Survivor and FM and this one is inevitably heavier and more hard rock like. Anyway very solid and lively playing. Pity that such bands never appear on our radio stations in my country...

Incredible album by the legendary German rockers. Nothing but quality Hard Rock on offer - Crazy, Longing for love, Heat of Emotion, out on the run, one step closer are the standouts. If they added "Survive in the night" from Zenology it would be a perfect addition to an otherwise classic album.
