This is the album Harem Scarem should've released after 'Mood Swings'. Their similarities to H.S are remarkable, from the guitar sound to the vocal harmonies, with only the slightly less polished production giving the game away. This is a truly excellent disc though,& certainly no weaker than either 'Weight of the World' or 'Higher',with standouts being the brilliantly catchy 'Face in the Mirror',& the melodic 'It Aint Over'. A couple of fillers, but if you love H.S then don't miss this. 8.5/10.

Aside from the fact that Mike Dmitrovic makes Pete Lesperance look like a bitch, there are 2 things ERandHS have in common, both from Canada, melodic, and? I like HS,butI believe if ER had pursued the direction of Broken Saviors, the style they played when they were Pain, they would have Harem as there bitches, but ER chose not to pursue heavy and decided to build around Melodic! and they are excellent at it! MikeD can shred Buy It!Can't recognize a thing is by far the best song on it. TalentedBand

Just in regards to the above comment, I am personally delighted they left their Pain days behind them. Pretty average CD, IMO. As for 'Sleepwalk'… well, ita appears producing Cauterize's 2 albums and working with Summer Hero has rubbed off on them. This is the most spirited ER release since their 2nd release. Murray ain't a great vocalist, but he varies it up here and sounds his best. Lyrically, this is easily their finest hour and some of these songs are outstanding! 'Can't Stop Bleeding' is ty

typical ER, 'Face In The Mirror' is an awesome highlight, 'Sleepwalk' I have really taken too. What a killer song. Very atmospheric and a highlight. 'I Never Knew' 'Everything Is Broken' and 'See It In Your Eyes' are all excellent, and great to hear from ER. If you like 'Torn In Two' check out upcoming band Summer Hero - because they wrote it! Another great song, and great to hear a band doing 100% melodic hard rock with that modern edge. Man the guitars sound like Lesperance don't they… Excelle

... Sorry for the long post, but just to sum it up, this is a great CD and easily one of the highlights in melodic hard rock this year thus far. Murray's work with Cauterize has been sensational and it looks as though they're getting some good, fresh new ideas for Emerald Rain out of the youngsters (Cauterize and Seummer Hero), as this is really a step up for recent Emerald Rain. Very nicely done!

Very boring and bad record from this HS clone band. Since I don't like the original, and that's an understatement, how should I like this ? Boring, uninspired modern rock ! Worst thing of all : these guys have talent, but they spoil it !

From: Erik Date: September 9, 2005 at 8:52
Oeps dont go spreading the word but guys i have to agree with the king of critics Freaky. This is for me also way too modern sounding. I just couldnot sit out most of the songs. Face in the mirror tho i loved. But that was it for me.

Thanks for the support, Erik ! Sometimes we do agree, ha ha !

This is fresh sounding very fast paced and agressive record...some modern influences, but melodies are strong on every song and i agree this should be Harem's Scarem next album after the Mood Swings...maybe they are copycats, but they are really good at this...recommended

From: Leykis101 Date: October 28, 2005 at 15:41
I don't hear the similaritys everybody keeps bringing up between them and Harem, Ive listened to both bands for years, aside from the fact their both melodic,Idon't hear even a little similarity,Hess punishes Dagle on vocals, but their not even similar, and Dmitrovic plays circles around Lesperance, but I still don't hear the similarity, sorry guys, 2 totally different sounding bands,I cant even put in the same ball park, if somebody would point out a similarity, mabey then I could listen for it!

Que buen disco, claro que sí. El tema título es la única que no me gusta y un par mas por ahí que se podrían catalogar de rellenos pero el disco en sí es realmente excelente. Mis favoritas: "See It In Your Eyes" (The Best!) y "I Never Knew", por coincidencia estos dos temazos me recuerdan a los Goo Goo Dolls. "It Ain´t Over" temazo que me hizo recordar a los MatchBox 20(la voz). La Semiacústica "Miracle", "Face in the Mirror", "Everything is Broken" y "Torn in Two" son estupendas tambien. 8.8/10

A good release but not a complete as the first two albums. This album has a little bit more of a jaded darker edge to it than any of their other releases. Face In the Mirror, Can't Stop the Bleeding and Everything is Broken have great meaning behind the music and are awesome tracks. Some of the others are not nearly as strong but hey it's tough to put a full album of good rock together anymore it seems. 80/100

Wow what do we have in here...not really into it honestly, for me ER sounds like a an AOR-ish version of Creed and Nickelback or perhaps not even the AOR word fits in here, this lot just release a modern rock album, nothing to do with the glorious AOR,the one that we want."Can't Stop Bleeding" modern rock with some AOR sparks,"Face In The Mirror"&"It Ain't Over" are just fine,"Sleepwalk" is probably a highlight but the best song is "I Never Knew"w with a good guitar line, the rest of the songs are just ok and the one that is out of place is "See It In Your Eyes" with that Simple Plan flavour...forgeteable surely...75/100
