hum i think that i m the lone fan of maverick on this site.there s only my comments.it s amazing.this record is not their best record.their two previous cd s was exceptionnal.here this new effort is very great only.yes on this realise we have three fillers.track 1 the intro have absoluty no interest you can forget it.track 7 is a very weak song certainly the worst they have written and track 10 good riff but where is the choruse?the other songs are very great ,the best is track 11 "devil s night".this album is varied with two speed hard rock songs track 3 and 9,two melodic rock songs tracks 5 and 8 the rest is in the vein of their two first cd s.ok "cold star dancer "is not at the same level than their others realizations but stay a very great record.i can add that the cover of rick springfield is a strange choice but nevertheless great. |

I kept hearing things about this band, but had listened to a couple of songs here and there but never really thought "yeah, gotta go out and buy their music". When they announced this album I decided to take a punt and preorder it. Thank god I did as what an amazing album it is. On the strength of this I went out and bought their previous two releases, and while good, they just did not hook me like this one did (that might explain why previous listens did not excite me). There is defo some "Irish" influence in this with the odd Thin Lizzy nod here and there, but overall its a damn good mix of styles without sounding like anyone else. Seize the day and Goodbye are the two real standout tracks for me, and were some of the strongest songs from last year for me. |
