The music discographies on this site are works in progress. If you notice that a particular Atello CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. EPs and CD-singles from Atello are also welcome to be added, as long as they are at least 4 songs in length.

Heavy Harmonies Review
From: Dan Date: March 18, 2003 at 1:14
This is a surprisingly good little indy release. The band is named for their frontman Larry Atello. Looking at the picture of the band, "dese ain't no youngsters"; I get the feeling they've been around awhile. This lineup appears to gel extremely well, and the band is very tight.

This band has a lot going for it! Despite it being billed as being centered around the vocalist, believe it or not, I think where this band especially shines is instrumentally. The guitarist absolutely WAILS at times, and the band clicks instrumentally. The one spot where this album falls short is on the choruses. Since they don't really use backing vocals, the choruses never really stand out. Add a few layers of backing vox and you're there! That notwithstanding, this an extremely enjoyable disc, sure to please any fan of "in-your-face" 80s hard rock!

This cd is in the style of the late 80's and it rocks!, Proberly the best release from 1999.

Men this is a very good release. They remind me Dokken and the heavier things from Mr. Big. The voice of the singer is clean and wonderful, the other musicians are very prepareted. The lirics are cool(blind justice),the name is funny(Atello and Desdemona).I guess they deserve more attention from the fans of this music, I higly reccomend this master piece. I keep on spin it and It really rocks me.

Great hard rock in the vein of Whitesnake/Dokken and a bit of Vain thrown in for good measure. Production is A1, the sound is tight and controlled. Larry Atello's voice is fantastic. A MUST HAVE FOR FANS OF THIS GENRE, HIGHLY ECOMMENDED !

"The Big Payoff" was more like the big disappointment. Based on all the rave reviews here, most other melodic hard rockers are easier to please than I am, because I thought this CD lacked anything that made it memorable. OK, the vocalist was decent, and the guitars sounded all right, but the songs...God, where were all the cool songs? I'll tell you this much, the band needs improvement before I would recommend them to anyone.

Very solid stuff, and definitely worth the time to find. Highly recommended!!!

'The Big Payoff' is steeped in the tradition of 80's U.S hard rock, bringing to mind acts such as Skid Row and Tuff, with a pinch of Queensryche here and there. To this listener, it's a welcome return to some fond memories. Larry Atello has a good voice that I'd like to see let go a little more often, while Rick Giarmo shows some great talent. Also deserving of a mention is the production, very impressive for an indie band.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news everybody. But sadly Atello has disbanded I know, it sucks. Larry has formed a new band called Licketty Splitt, in fact that's what www.atello.com is representing now.

These guys can play, and man do they have some awesome musical ideas. 'Love Me Down' and 'Emotional Blackmail' are unique and not classics, but both have a certain charm I cannot ignore. 'You've Got a Grip On My Heart' is the clear highlight, purely sensational and a melodic gem, as is 'Hold On' - another stunning track. The rest is great, slightly risky and enjoyable hard rock. 'Grip on my heart' and 'Hold on' are well worth the price of this alone though. Great band, very good disc.

Much better than Welcome to the Wrecking Ball.....If anyone is interested in purchasing a CDR of the Persia EP released 4 years before before "TBP" with 3 of the same members, please contact me.
