In my opinion one of the best rock releases ever. Great catchy songs, great riffs, and strong and funny lyrics. Not a weak track.

'Disneyland After Dark'. Hard driving, streamlined rock infused with western style melodies played on the twangiest guitar.Abbreviated for obvious reasons after a beyound-the-grave Walt,(Walt Disney) started aplying pressure, There are a few albums out that say 'Disneyland After Dark' get your hands on those.$$$ A rating well worth a 10!!!AS for the video?Gotta love those cartoons!

This was a little off the wall when I first heard it and I wasn't very impressed. I got bored with other cd's and tried this one again and after a few spins...I liked it. Interesting guitar and vocals to say the least.

Well Drag-in-Bones, I'm fixing to lay down the cash for the banned cover. I've been wanting it forever.

It arrived today. I got lucky on this one because the seller forgot to state 'banned cover.' I got it for $16.50 instead of the usual $52.

By the way.......................... Their latest release really sucks. Its called Soft Dogs. If you`re a rocker...Avoid it.

From: TIM |

The banned cover has Disneyland After Dark at the top instead of D.A.D., other than that it is identical. I heard they had a newer release than Soft Dogs. You say they lost their edge, eh? I haven't heard it yet.

Loved the song 'point of view' the most on this album. 'Lords of the Atlas' and 'Sleepin' My Day Away' are my solid, too. If you liked this sound, check out 'Riskin' It All', their second release. They softened their sound up on later albums.

Never quite got these guys. I own this cd and really want to like it but it does nothing for me. It has kinda a cool AC/DC meets The Ramones thing going on but the songs , in my own opinion, just really sit there and do nothing. 'Sleeping My Day Away' is great and the people I know who dig this album REALLY dig it so if you dig this stuff get it as I'm sure I'm in the minority here.

Ahh yes, this was their heyday...Very energetic rock'n'roll with a punk feel to it at times...Sounds weird but it's actually very cool (In my ears at least). If you haven't heard 'Sleeping...' yet you don't know what rock'n'roll is...Their breakthrough album too & it sure is understood. Great, great, great...'Rim of hell' is one helluva drinking song...

Sleeping My Day Away got some decent airplay on MTV and is the reason I got the tape (and later on the CD). The album does have some punk undertones but D.A.D did a good job mixing it up with a sound that was popular at the time. Too bad they didn't make it big here but I'm glad for all the success they've had in Europe. Hey Scandinavia, I bet you get a couple chances a year to see them live. I hear they put on some excellent shows but I don't think we'll ever see them tour the states again.

Hehe yes, Blue Tequila...I actually just saw them 'bout a month ago. Hats off to their live shows. Lotsa energetic activity around the stage...They can light up any venue with that show...And I mean 'light up' litterally. Lotsa fireworks, explosions & so on...The pyrotechnics have more or less become a trademark for them. I wa a little late for the concert (open air) but when I arrived Jesper yelled: 'How do U do?' (about 7 times)..and then: 'Riding with Sue' & it all kicked off. That track is

...From their 'cowpunk' period...Very cool live! Of course they ended the show with an extended version of 'Sleeping...'. However they played too many new songs in my opinion...

D:A rocks, that's for sure! 'Sleeping..' was my first experience to this band and whole record (No Fuel..) was dynamite. I have't seen them on the stage, but in the live videos they are wild. Once they played on Finnish tv-show called 'Tuhkaa ja Timanttia'(Diamons & Ash) and I remember Stig had this grazy bass guitar, where was only 2 strings on it! That show was hosted, by the way, some members of Finnish band called Leningrad Cowboys, graziest band in the world. Anyway, this is quality stuff

I love this band. I have all their stuff. 'Sleeping My Day Away' and 'Girl Nation' got me to buy it, and man the whole thing KICKS! What style! Buy 'Riskin' It All' too--every bit as good. After that, 'Helpyourselfish' is very heavy, even more so than the first two. 'Simpatico' has some good tunes. 'Everything Glows' is a refreshing blast...but Kim is right. 'Soft Dogs' should be left alone. 'We're the lords...the lords of the Atlas!'

Only good reviews here, not funny...but I can't say any bad thing about this album : it is great, really a must have, with incredible gimmicks a la Shadows that could have sounded ridiculous...but not with DAD. Vocalist is not a great tehcnician but he has lots of personality and style.

Excellent record! Plain, simple rock'n'roll with a lot of groove and some incredible songs. My favourites have to be 'Girl Nation', 'Jihad' (well, not for the title!!!) and 'Sleeping My Day Away'... Great album!

A great hard rock album very special too! D.A.D. aren't a mix between of bands, they are just D.A.D, a band with a lot of personality and good tunes like ... all the tunes include in this cd! I didn't think this is a glam band like says the category box above. It can distract some hard rock fanatics from a good buy!

Not only is this a great fucking album, the band are hilarious in interviews too. I remember seeing one on video where Stig (if I remember correctly) was asked what he wanted from fame,he said 'New shoes & a warm place to shit!'

This is a one song worth record. Sleeping My Day Away is the best track. The rest does not take off. You listen to the first song and think it's great, that it's gonna be a kick ass album. After the third track you get pissed off because there is nothin' like the first song that gets you fire up. It's like a cold shower!!It's very interesting the use of clean guitars with heavy guitars!

From: Big Papa K |

I could not put it any better than Gabriel does in his review above. 'Sleeping My Day Away' is a great opening track and after hearing it on a compilation cd, I had high hopes for this album. But nothing else rises above average here and while it is not bad, the first song is just so good that the rest pales in comparison. 6/10

'Sleeping my day away' is obviously a great song and there are a few fillers in between, but my fave has always been 'Wild talk'. Killer tune. Overall, I admit I don't really listen to this album much these days but it is a great snappy hard rock album with very cool songs on it. It always goes for cheap, so I definately recommend it. I love their lyrics.

I agree with Geoff and Big Papa K on this one. After 'Sleeping My Day Away' it falls on life support. What a let down after a great beginning song. I sold this one almost right after I burned it. I have 'Sleeping....' on a compilation disc so no need for this one. 6.5/10.

Have to disagree with some of you that 'Sleeping' is the only good track here. 'Point of View', 'Lords of the Atlas', 'Girl Nation', 'Rim Of Hell', 'Wild Talk' and 'Ill Will' are all strong tracks and make this record much more than a 'one hit wonder'. I find it a refreshing disc all the way through!

Very cool release from these Danish rockers! Good mix between rock n roll and heavy metal. Sleeping My Day Away and Girl Nation were pretty big hits for D.A.D. and put them on the map worldwide! Unfortunately they couldn't quite match this great album on future releases! Rim Of Hell, Jihad and Ill Will are also my faves from this one. One of the better releases just before grunge broke out! 9/10.....

This is a cool, but weird, little disc by a band that combines the glam-rock sound with a quirky, laid back 'cowboy' feel. Apparently these guys are still quite popular in their native Europe but as far as the U.S. goes they fell off the radar after a minor hit in 'Sleepin' My Day Away.' 'Sleepin'' is an excellent, catchy track, as is 'Jihad,' but my favorite is 'Rim Of Hell,' where, if the band is to be believed, they throw the 'BEST DAMN PARTIES!'

In accordance with metalmastermusic...undoubtebly this is their finest album.I dunno if this is strictly glam (in some parts their sound is a little bit Motorhead and in others a little bit of Ramones),probably Fat Freddy is more accurate..."Sleeping My Dad Away"(funny),"Wild Talk","Girl Nation" are nice songs that you'll dig right away!!!.88/100

this album has different sound than most of the bands-it has some strange sound (i can't explain what kind) which i had never heard before, so i was very surprised.the good thing is they are still active, the bad is they changed the sound to worse. my favs: Sleeping My Day Away, Jihad, Girl Nation and Wild Talk

From: Auslander |

When I got this album I was blown away and had to read everything I could about it. The sound was often described as "cowpunk" like a combination of western music and punk rock. Of course we all know that there is a healthy dose of sleaze in it as well! But I think cowpunk is a good descriptor. The funniest thing is this is a Danish band playing this American style, but I guess some of the best Western movies were Italian, so go figure. Sleeping My Day Away is of course in the top 100 of any 80s hard rock song list. Girl Nation is almost as good. Awesome, original-sounding release. 88/100.

Their personality is what makes this. To be honest, I haven't cared for it much up until this particular moment, but I'm pretty stoned and I'm pretty locked in to their groove right now! Pretty unique stuff. I'd have liked a tougher production, but I can see how others like it the way it is. I'm just a tougher sort of fella, is all. Shrug.. An achievement, if only because they managed to carve out a sound for themselves that isn't played out and derivative, you know? Probably won't like it again once I'm sober, though..
