I'm privileged to be the first to review this. 'Out of the Silence' by Dare is my all-time favorite album. The new version doesn't have that slightly distanced stadium echo effect that the original had. What we get in its place are the secrets revealed from beneath the sounds of the original. You can clearly hear the multiple layers that make up the harmonies, where in the original, it all merged into the classic 'wall of sound'. Do I prefer it to the original? No. Is is as good? Possibly, but in a slightly different way. I don't get the claim that it's a harder-edged version. To my ears, the tempo of either version is identical. It's still ten, astonishing AOR tracks of the highest caliber, and it's back where it belongs - with the band! |

Never quite got the hype with the original to be honest. Of course it was good but see so many people giving it a maximum score it's always surprised me. Good songs (most of them) but never really made me jump out my seat by any means. This reworking is again ok, but it's of course a far thinner sound, a little more raw if you like. Is it better? Nope, reworkings NEVER are, but it's a fairly pleasant listen just like the original. |

Decent and acceptable remake of the 1988 remarkeable release...obviously the fresh and modern sound makes these new versions pale in comparisson with the original ones...Darren's vocals are still good enough to keep the spirit at least alive...# 2,3(nice),4,8 & 9 (my fave, always my fave no matter what)are the selected cuts for me outta this plastic.Hope the original line up get together one of these days for a real tour of the "Silence" Record.85/100 :-) |

I pretty well like all the Dare releases including this one. But I really don't find much of a difference with this than the original. The sound is more updated! Should of just remastered the original and reissued it! |

Instead of this they should have made a natural follow-up to the debut, in terms of style and melodies. |

A re-recording of the original and yet the best song that didn't make that album "The Last Time" is still a rarity...shame... |
