Been many years since I've heard this, back in the late '90s when a mate and I drove halfway 'cross the country on a break from school and he was keen on the disc so it spun in the CD a few times. I don't remember much specifically, just some lingering impressions: A well-made disc with glittering production; Page very similar to Peter Gabriel, really going for that vibe; other than the title track, the songs left me a little drowsy. Overall the style isn't so much AOR (although that's up for debate) as it is, for me, an Adult Contemporary thing, pleasant and polite and smooth around the edges. But it was a chance for Page the Songwriter ("These Dreams," "We Built This City") to finally lay down his own album after developing a name for himself as a sidekick to some more famous blokes (Bernie Taupin, Robbie Robertson, etc). He's talented, and the Gabriel crowd should like it for that same moody ponderance. Good for sipping some Merlot after putting away the groceries. 65 / 100

I bought this album when it came out basically because of the song that gave the album a name "In The House Of Stone A Light" that got plenty of radio airing back in the day and which no matter the comments is a pleasant Westcoast/Lite AOR track IMO...another one that was stuck on my mind was the following "Shape The Invisible" with that smoothness sound and with Phil Collins playing additional drums in here...gotta find this cd in my collection, gonna give it a another proper listening once again and will write a comment about it...cheers!!!

Finally i undusted my old CD of this one...yeah,this is a pleasant Lite/Westcoast AOR album, basically a relaxed one..."In The House Of Stone And Light" was the hit single of it and probably the only one,"Shape The Invisible" is the other song along with "In The House..." that is a fave...some other fine moments are "Monkey In My Dreams"(musically it sounds like a Peter Gabriel influenced song),"Put On Your Red Dress" & "Light In Your Heart"...Martin's voice has a great similarity with Sting so that's an issue but apart from that is quite a nice singer...my rate,86/100

I couldn't agree more with the comment of Reverend Mayhem, let me say that it's the same feeling that i have with this album. Good lite AOR. My rating? 80/100

an absolute essential buy..... intelligent Hi tech melodic AOR. Peter Gabriel meets The Police.... and he dares to write about things others dont.."In My room" covers domestic violence against a young boys mother. "The Door" covers The Jewish Holocaust "Monkey On My Back" covers depression... Gabriel esqu in its sound... esp the percussion. Broken Stairway is a plain but plaintive vocal and piano ballad Pages voice is very "Stingish" at times.... a great production too... all so crisp and clear. "Put On Your Red Dress" is a love song....with those plaintive guitar arpeggios..that hit you in the heart. Every AOR hi tech fan should have this its absolutely essential 9.5 from 10
