A SOLID FOLLOW UP TO THEIR FIRST RELEASE. GOOD SOLID ROCK LIKE EUROPE AND TREAT BUT ALITTLE MORE POP SOUND TO IT. GOOD LEAD GUITAR PLAYING.

From: koogles Date: January 1, 2002 at 12:24
Very palatable Scandi stuff that any fan of Europe or Treat will enjoy. Production is world class, as is the songwriting, vocals and musicianship. Some cheese in the lyrical department, but not enough to spoil what is otherwise a solid release.

From: Funwolf Date: July 13, 2002 at 9:58
Great stuff! Really a treat like TREAT!!!

From: Teo_3 Date: December 17, 2002 at 21:14
Excellent efford from this scandinavian very talented rock group.Production is world class as well.If you can afford it BUY it!!!!

From: freddy de keyze Date: January 3, 2003 at 19:20
A real shame that such an average band is at the top of the top 25 ! Nuff said !

From: Teo_3 Date: January 3, 2003 at 21:09
To call DA VINCI an average band shows how little you know about hard rock.Opinions like that send all great bands to sign with japanese record companies and make themselves hard to find, and left us with the likes of Bon Jovi and co.What a pity. P.S You don't have to vote 50 times to lower the ratings of a particular band. Most people cannot afford the likes of DA VINCI,DALTON and 220 VOLT anyway.

From: MALLORCA´S ROCK Date: January 24, 2003 at 14:28
Muy buen duisco coincido con Teo-3

From: ROBERT Date: January 24, 2003 at 19:08

From: Teo_3 Date: January 24, 2003 at 20:54
It seems that us meditterenean people can appreciate good music better than others. For the rest of you, stick to your MTV idols. DA VINCI is up there with the best. And that is a fact!!

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: March 6, 2003 at 17:42

Please ! Someone know where can I download any MP3 of this band ?? Just want to know if they're as good as Europe and Treat If it really worths the $$$ on ebay

From: Scandinavia Date: January 31, 2004 at 9:14
It's not neccessary to download their stuff...Take it from me...They're not half as good as the other bands you mention.

From: Date: January 31, 2004 at 9:25
thanks for answering ... anyway .. Is there any band you consider as good as Treat ?

From: Scandinavia Date: February 1, 2004 at 9:36
I'd personally recommend: Skagarack, Shy, Valentine, Red Dawn...Generally bands in that vein. Treat are hard to beat though...

From: Date: February 1, 2004 at 9:50
thanks

Sorry.. wanted to say 'Touchdown' is a fantastic.. (see above)

From: Terje Date: February 10, 2004 at 5:51

From: Dreamhunter Date: February 18, 2004 at 18:26
I've just picked up this album ... HIGHLY RECOMMENDED MATERIAL !! I'm sorry 'Scandinavia' but I found this record to be as good as Europe's Out of this world or Treat's Dreamhunter ...

From: erik Date: February 25, 2004 at 11:04
Excellent album. The kind of music thats lasts. You can still play it loud and doesnot sound outdated. Love it ! Aorrulez if you want the songs i can help you. Contact meat erikhardam@hetnet.nl

From: Dreamhunter Date: February 26, 2004 at 14:31
Erik .. 'AORRULEZ now posts as Dreamhunter' .. thanks for the help but now I have a copy of this record .. and it is EXACTLY as you described ... KILLER ALBUM !

From: montenn Date: April 15, 2004 at 0:08
if you don't own this cd then you are missing out on what melodic rock is all about.this band should have been huge.just as good as treat/dalton/amaze me/dominoe/skagarack/europe.buy this cd at any cost you will not be disappointed.

From: TIM (2) Date: June 7, 2004 at 5:46
Disappointed to see the rating of this one reduce so much, but it's a real scandi classic. 'Call Me a Liar' is a bit Eurovision, but huge keyboards and a magnificent chorus are what this music is all about. I agree with Dreamhunter above, every bit as good as the best Europe/Treat/Dalton albums, and depite some bizzare lyrics ('Circus Maximus' and '9 & 10') and the fact that the quality tails off towards the end, it's worth every penny on eBay.

From: Gunnar Westlie Date: November 21, 2004 at 15:00
Our new band is called EIDSIVATING....Solook out...

From: Roy Date: November 29, 2004 at 18:41
Hey guys, I heard a song awile ago called 'Close to the Edge of a Broken Heart' or something like that. I'm almost positively sure it's a Da Vinci tune since I've heard some of the band's material. Where is it from though? I don't see it listed on neither two albums.

From: TIM (2) Date: November 30, 2004 at 2:32
Roy, It's on 'Unfinished Business' their 3rd (unreleased) album. If you like their first 2 then track it down as it's every bit as good. You should find it on eBay...

From: Erik Date: December 30, 2004 at 6:36
Roy drop me a line and i can help you out with some of the Unfinished Business songs. erikhardam@hetnet.nl And yep like Tim says its just as good.

From: tomcat Date: December 30, 2004 at 7:06
hey erik, are u cheating on me? hehe, anyhow, this is a cool album... fave song: circus maximus

From: Erik Date: December 30, 2004 at 11:36
You caught me redhanded Tom !

From: guillermo Date: January 11, 2005 at 4:14

From: Geoff Date: February 10, 2005 at 6:57
I might have listened to his album more than most I own as it came to me in a time when I was just getting into the Euro melodic stuff and I couldn't release it from my ears. 'Call me a liar' is just sensational, the ballads are stunning and every single song contains a million dollar hook or two. As noted above, some very cheesy lyrics but when the songs are this good, slap my scrotum and turn up the volume! Just enjoy the excellence!!!

From: z4roxx Date: February 10, 2005 at 11:47
Da Vinci was a great band,this one is personally is my favorite but the other one is awesome,too.Songs as'touchdown','call me a liar','9 & 10'ect.are marvellous!!But IMO'Million like us'is somethin'immense!!What a tune!!I could throw myself from the window!!ahahaha!!

From: orietto Date: February 11, 2005 at 4:37
z4roxx don't throw out of the window as you could crash on the floor and we can't laugh anymore reading all the great 'porcherie' you're writing everyday on this site....ahahahahahahahahahahahaha

From: z4roxx Date: February 11, 2005 at 18:17
Ok Orietto,I don't throw myself to the window only to continue laughin'with you and all the dupes ahahahahaha!!My english is the funniest thing here ahahahaha!!!

From: iacob cristian Date: February 14, 2005 at 14:19
All I can say it's that Da Vinci is equal to Treat and Dalton.Europe it's by far the best scandinavian band but Da Vinci comes closer in their back togheter with Dalton and Treat. The 'Back In bussiness' album really rocks with tracks like 'Touchdown','Call Me A Liar','Young Hearts','9 and 10' and 'Turn Down The Lights'.A magnific band !

From: iacob cristian Date: February 14, 2005 at 14:22
All I can say it's that Da Vinci is equal to Treat and Dalton.Europe it's by far the best scandinavian band but Da Vinci comes closer in their back together with Dalton and Treat. The 'Back In bussiness' album really rocks with tracks like 'Touchdown','Call Me A Liar','Young Hearts','9 and 10' and 'Turn Down The Lights'.A magnific band !

From: Muddley Date: February 14, 2005 at 15:39
Well I dont agree with Jacob at all. Here is my all time favorite top 10 Scandinavian hard rock bands ever.

From: Muddley Date: February 14, 2005 at 15:40
1. Europe 2. Pretty Maids 3. Royal Hunt 4. TNT 5. Skagarack 6.reat King Rat 6.

From: Muddley Date: February 14, 2005 at 15:40
1. Europe 2. Pretty Maids 3. Royal Hunt 4. TNT 5. Skagarack 6.reat King Rat 6.

From: Date: February 14, 2005 at 15:43
1. Europe 2. Pretty Maids 3. Royal Hunt 4. TNT 5. Skagarack 6. Great King Rat 7. Fate 8. Pole Position 9. Masquerade 10.Torben Schmidt Solo.

From: Geoff Date: February 14, 2005 at 19:26
Yeah, got to agree with Muddley. Europe the best Scandinavian band? Of course it's all a matter of opinion, but I can think of dozens better. That's like saying Bon Jovi is the best US band. Europe may be the most popular, and 'Prisoners in Paradise' is a sensational disc, but I think overall there are dozens of better Scandinavian bands, IMO.

From: z4roxx Date: February 15, 2005 at 8:52
I find Da Vinci more complete than Dalton but maybe little inferior to Treat as songwriting and arrangements,IMO.But the Da Vinci refrains are among the best in Scandinavian scene indeed.Da Vinci were great!!

From: z4roxx Date: February 15, 2005 at 8:56
Maybe you forget other 2 bands:Glory and Stormwing???

From: TIM (2) Date: February 15, 2005 at 9:07
I'd have to put Skagarack at the top of the pile. Barely a duff track on any of their first 3 albums. Da Vinci and Europe would be very close IMO, but Glory only made one good album (their first) and Stormwing are great if you just listen to the EP, sadly the S/T album is very patchy. I notice Alien and Jim Jidhed's solo albums aren't in the list, and probably should be...

From: z4roxx Date: February 15, 2005 at 9:11
Agree about J.Jidhed,a killer masterpiece indeed.Glory I mean'danger in this game'but Stormwing is one of the best,IMO.There other band to put in that list but now I don't remember any name....Alien great indeed with also Snake Charmer/smoke and mirrors,I love P.Sandberg voice!

From: Erik Date: February 16, 2005 at 2:48
Europe the best ? You gotta be kidding me. Yeah commercially they had the most success but no way you can call them the best Scandi band. Bands like Skagarack, Da Vinci, Great King Rat, T'Bell, Alien and Dalton are way and i mean way better. Where Europe came to second base maybe the forementioned bands all easily hit home runs. Period.

From: Geoff Date: February 16, 2005 at 4:46
Yeah, sorry to post here, but as far as Scandi bands go I don't think any match Treat or Fate and DaVinci, Pretty Maids, Amaze Me and TNT are in a class of their own. I think Skagarak, Dalton, Glory and Pole Position (debut only) are better than most Europe releases, but I'll give Europe their due with 'Prisoners in Paradise'. Whilst IMO their other releases were average, that is one hell of a stunning release. There are plenty of great Scandi bands out there though.

From: z4roxx Date: February 16, 2005 at 9:13
Pole Position(debut)is one of the best indeed but we can't forget Masquerade debut,IMO.

From: z4roxx Date: February 16, 2005 at 9:27
I think who writes that Europe are the best in Scandinavia doesn't know the other bands(Dalton,Skagarack,Da Vinci,Glory,Pole Position,Masquerade,Renegade,Fate,Treat ect..)

From: Nanteau Date: February 17, 2005 at 17:54
I disagree... Europe IS the best of those scandi-bands because they are the most consistent. And, of course, they were featured and supported more than all the others BUT they did the best out of it. So they deserve to be number 1! Indeed, bands like Skagarack,Da Vinci,Heaven follow very close behind! To add some more then come Line Up,Treat,Fate,Glory,Tindrum,Madison etc. I like Royal Hunt very much as well but they are slightly different to the beforementioned, so they get an extra place

From: Nanteau Date: February 17, 2005 at 17:56
..and I really know them all (except e.g. STORMWING --think they would be on my list too..)

From: Beto Date: February 17, 2005 at 21:01
And what happen with Nation? a great band, sorry for my english

From: Erik Date: February 18, 2005 at 2:16
Someone who writes that europe is the best of the scandi melodic rock scene cannot be taken very seriously in my humble opinion.

From: orietto Date: February 18, 2005 at 13:15
great release but everyone knows about it so i think too much talking about it is waste of time...eehh felpao è senza denari ma punta su tutto anche i loud silence boh! evviva il manicomio

From: z4roxx Date: February 18, 2005 at 14:53
Sorry mate but Line Up and Madison are not among the best indeed!!Agree about Royal Hunt but they are very particular and different from the others band. But they are unique and amazing anyway,IMO.

From: iacob cristian Date: February 20, 2005 at 15:23
I like very much Da Vinci , top scandi band , but people Europe it's the best by far.All Europe albums are fenomenal , and tell me which of the scandi bands can make an album like Europe's 'Final Countdown' or 'Out Of This World' ? After Europe , comes Treat,Da Vinci,Dalton,Alien,Bad Habit and Talk Of The Town.

From: The Dolphin Date: February 20, 2005 at 16:13
The demos of Da Vinci after this album are beautiful!!!Listen to 'Breatless'...pure scandi aor

From: z4roxx Date: February 20, 2005 at 18:16
I think'Final Countdown'is a great piece of commercial melodick rock made for families,'Out of this world'is my fave with'Prisoners in Paradise'and I consider both one of the best scandi cd's as ever...but I put at the same level the first 2 Bad Habit releases(even if I prefer these 2),Treat/dreamhunter,Skagarack(2nd and 3rd cd's),Da Vinci/back in business,Masquerade/s.t.and others, too. Finally we can say that all these bands could be put at the same level so everyone will be glad I hope!ahaha!

From: Erik Date: February 21, 2005 at 3:23
Yep Dolphin, Breathless is one hell of a 'scandi' track !

From: iacob cristian Date: February 21, 2005 at 8:25
yes z4roxx , you're wright , all of the scandi aor bands are very good and for me are the best in the melodic hard rock scene.

From: Nanteau Date: February 21, 2005 at 13:56
O yes.. I forgot to mention BAD HABIT -what a damn shame- whose ep & first album are on second place in my rating list of scandi bands. And, by the way, why d'ya always laugh so, Roxxy ??? Reminds me of Terence Hill or Butt Spencer in the old italien western films.. those were the days..

From: Nanteau Date: February 21, 2005 at 14:01
Should add that LINE UP -for me- is very very close to DA VINCI and that makes them classics, Roxx. OK, thing with MADISON is not right .. actually like only two tunes from their first so tilt them

From: The Dolphin Date: February 21, 2005 at 14:49
Yeah Erik, another great song of the demo is Wait for you.I think the demo songs are better than this album(in a very aor key)

From: Erik Date: February 25, 2005 at 1:58
I can go along with that Dolphin. The demo songs truly are very very good:

Good Melodic Rock/AOR album, Tan bueno como el primero incluso mas parejo, pero sin los 2 temazos del anterior con esa energia, aca no tan duros como el debut pero con buenos cortes Hold Back the Tears, Last Time, Call Me a Liar, Millions Like Us, Young Hearts(un baladon), Circus Maximus... muy completo si amas lo escandinavo este es otro disco Imprescindible en tu coleccion. un grupo similar a Glory o Talk of the Town y por momentos a Dalton.

From: ROBERT Date: April 16, 2005 at 14:28
Yo ultimamente he descubierto un buen puñao d grupos y discos d HARD MELODICO ESCANDINAVO.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: April 16, 2005 at 18:00

From: mauricio Date: November 13, 2005 at 16:50

From: mauricio Date: November 13, 2005 at 16:50

From: mauricio Date: November 13, 2005 at 16:51
consigue el tuyo antes que sea muy tarde claro que si vale la pena pagar por este diamante melodico otro 10/10 y 10/10 a mi por tener este, el debut y UNFINISHED BUSINESS mas precioso una pena que no apárezca en este sitio=blame it on the radio-every highway-breathless-aint no goodbyes-how many miles-wait for you-wont be the one-last generation-close to the edge-one of a kind-where the eagles die-action-stand up-shadow dance-electric lady-the light.

Temas lentos como "young hearts" "turn down the lights" y "circus maximus" estas 2 ultimas buenísimas. 9.4/10

From: hardrock90.00 Date: June 11, 2006 at 21:52

Hey people Da Vinci are just great. I know their drummer Jarle Måløy. He now lives at Storsteinnes, not far from where I live. He's got a new band which I think is awsome. They call themselves "THE MAUDLIN HOUNDS" and they released their first album "Somersaulting" in June this year. Great songs, "in your face" rock 'n' roll. Check 'em out at www.maudlinhounds.com THE MAUDLIN HOUNDS

Good CD. Touchdown and Call Me A Liar are my favorites but the whole album is pretty good. If you like AOR/80's rock then you should like it. Stands up to other bands of the genre - Europe, Zinatra, Treat, Dalton, Autograph, etc. Better than Dalton and just as good as Treat but not as good as Europe or Autograph in my opinion. 7.5/10 Man, Touchdown is a really good song though.

Awesome scandi rock, this stuff is usually to lite weight 4 my tastes but the songs are just so damn good(great production as well)that I can`t help being won over.Favorite trax have to be opener` touchdown`(the most hard rocking tune here)and euro cheese ballard `young hearts`(Terry Wogan would love this one!!!)seen some comments compare this to TREAT but thats way off the mark as this is quite soft in comparison...8/10

Much the better of the 2 Da Vinci releases and excellent all round, with a slightly more American flavour than some of the other Scandie releases of the time. Well deserving it's long overdue re-issue, this is another Scandie Essential to add to the collection. Hopefully MTM will do something with the bands excellent Demo's that have been around for ages, of which the bonus track featured here is one.

Actually some good tunes on every of their two releases, but not more. Maybe another legend that falls.. Here "Touchdown" & "Hold back the tears" have a crispy edge & good hooks, the rest lacks it for my taste. "Circus maximus" still may be a nice ballad but the so beloved "Call me a liar" is too poppy for me. It is very melodious, of course, but I don't like the stretched vocals. So, all in all, this is NOT a better release than their first effort IMO -- neither their worse.

Very good album by this lot Da Vinci...songs are into the melodic rock/aor territory, actually, the "noise" that we love to hear always...hahaha...talking about the album,as usual and the way it has 2 be,a good opening song "Touchdown",then "Call Me A Liar" with that catchy chorus..another outstanding tracks are "Million Like Us","Pink Champagne","Hold Back The Tears"(the best track along with "Call Me...")and a great finale.."Last Time".For people who know what this genre is all about.88/100
