If you see any errors or omissions in the CD information shown above, either in the musician credits or song listings (cover song credits, live tracks, etc.), please post them in the corrections section of the Heavy Harmonies forum/message board.

The music discographies on this site are works in progress. If you notice that a particular Petra CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. Please only submit official CD releases; no bootlegs or cassette-only or LP-only releases.

EPs and CD-singles from Petra are also welcome to be added, as long as they are at least 4 songs in length.

John Schlitt was an improvement from Greg Volz as lead singer. The band also had a more solide sound, though not as hard driven as albums to come.

Great lyrics, great "hooks", and a top rate singer, John Schlitt formly of Head East. This remains my favorite Petra album, closely followed by "This means war".

never heard of the band, John Schlitt was one of my fav vocalists and wondered what he did after Head East, then at a cousins house who was only into CCM and I said wowowow, what r u doing with the new Head East??? hahaha then I found out the band was Petra!!! I was in shock, then a Petra freak for the next 20 years!!! this was a new start for Petra with John taking over, the first singer was good and had a great high voice but John just fit and can;t believe the retiremenr!!!! check the tour li

Very Good Hard Rock/AOR, solo mira el aņo no hay nada mas que acuņar, y que decir del Gran John Schlitt con una voz especial, un disco para todo amante de lo mejor lleno de buenismos teclados que le dan mas gusto como debe de ser y esta una de las bandas mas grandes del Rock Cristiano claro junto con Stryper, Idle Cure, Greg X Volz, White Heart... 8.5/10

Things could've gone down a very rocky path for Petra when lead singer Greg X. Volz departed and was replaced by ex-Head East vocalist John Schlitt, but instead the band came roaring back with an invigorating hard rock sound that was given a big coat of professional production polish by John & Dino Elefante. Fans who had been clamoring for Volz to come back suddenly paused, listened to the new Schlitt-fronted sound, and exclaimed, "Hey, that's pretty good!" While a long way from metal heaviness, this packs much more bite than previous Petra projects, the guitars melodic but gritty and the drums much beefier and "alive" than the electronic beats of the band's yesteryears. In keeping with their newly-adopted "bigger is better" approach, the size of the hooks, choruses, and backing vocals increased as well. Transitional albums rarely end up this good, but when Petra decided to turn off AOR Avenue and head down Hard Rock Highway, the results were better than anyone could have expected.
