Tom Keifer finally has some new material here as it's been since 1994 since Cinderella's last studio album. The only recent album output has been 'Live at the Key Club' from a 98' show, to go along with a handful of tours post 94'. I haven't seen this band live since 86', opening up for DLR. I think Tom is a talent but after 'Night Songs' they got a little too blusey for my taste. I knew with a solo album what to expect more or less. Keifer is versatile as besides vox, he plays harmonica, saxophone, electric/acoustic and slide guitar, plus wrote this album. 'Ain't That A Bitch' and "Cold day in Hell' have a Keith Richards guitar-groove vibe from of the Stones glory days. Keifer jumps genres from blues, country,to rock(classic). This is one of those 'lessons of life' lyrically albums. Rumor has it that even Cinderella might be making a new album. I'm sure the 'Night Songs' days are gone forever, but I hope for the 86' nostalgia fans Cinderella will cut some heavier hard rock tracks. |

An album that brings some bluesier Cinderella(obviously),The Black Crowes and even old Aerosmith type of influence...a bunch of songs with thay "cowboy" feel...not a bad release but nothing to kill for either IMO..."Solid Ground","It's Not Enough","Cold Day In Hell","Thick And Thin"(nice),"Fools Paradise","You Showed Me"(nice)& "Ain't That a bitch" are in my book...84/100 |

If you're a fan of Cinderella's entire catalogue than this should be an automatic addition to your collection. A touch more mature & refined with the blues being a little bluesier and the country being a little countrier, it's is not too far a stretch. Featuring Tom's undeniable writing talents and vocal stylings... The moods are varied and balanced for the whole album. It's a good old fashioned album that plays well from beginning to end. |
