Santa Cruz goes full Milli Vanilli at the Whisky Go Go. As the singer doesn't even attempt to hide it, he just walks away from the mic for 30 seconds with the back track lead vocals still going, and casually strolls back to the mic. You're supposed to pay your hard earned money with today's concert prices for this lazy shit? This band isn't exactly aging rockers. What's their excuse? All part of today's degraded music scene experience, I guess. ⭐EDDIE TRUNK BLASTS ROCK BANDS USING BACKING TRACKS & LIP-SYNCING LIVE, 'ITS GOTTA STOP' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=40egJpx2UAo I recall not minding some of this band's early releases. But after hearing this one, now I know why they are lip syncing. 'Here Comes The Revolution' starts out with allot of growling (groove/metalcore) that sounds nothing like the band's earlier releases. This is a herky-jerky disjointed album, from the opening 2 metalcore songs, to annoying pop/punk influences, with a few classic sounding glam tracks. |

I remember a young Chris Robinson casually mentioning that Aerosmith and Heart (both of whom the Crowes had just toured with) used backing tracks, in concert and he loved 'em anyway. I think we all just assumed he meant for background vocals. Nowadays the attitude toward using tracks is very cavalier, including for lead vocals and sometimes instruments. Which is partly why some of these dinosaurs are still able to tour, and they tell us, 'Well, once we're gone, there won't be any more big arena acts. Who will take our place? The world can't possibly go on without us.' Why don't you just take one more massive paycheck by selling your publishing and retire already? Part of why there are (supposedly) no new arena acts is because you won't go away! Then again, the recent spate of arena-tour cancelations lends credence to the idea that the days of big stadium shows are just plain over, and maybe we should just let 'em die. |

As for Santa Cruz, they've always struck me as kind of flaky. |
