Great album! Not one song on here that I don't like. Great video for "Neighbor"!!

From: Desslar Date: April 5, 2002 at 11:53
Wacky, heavy, and fun! One of the best singles ever, although I could do without the intro from Pat. Listen for Halford.

From: Reno Date: May 2, 2002 at 22:19
Great vocals and musicianship. Saw them open up for Def Leppard in 92. They had an awesome show. Not the run of the mill girls, sex, party themed songs. Actually...most are pretty funny

From: jason Date: June 3, 2002 at 19:12
These guys did their best to try and keep their heads above water in the 90's. The mid 90's were tough for rock bands (we all know that). Ugly Kid Joe did their best but grunge ended up getting the best of them as well. They had a great sound, from volcals to guitars and drums. This album is their best and it's the one to have.

From: izzy Date: November 30, 2002 at 17:23
ive seen two different cover for this album. any info?

From: The Fizzy One Date: November 30, 2002 at 22:36
Izzy, I got mine at Wal-Mart, who are notorious for messing with music they don't like. I'm not sure what's on your cover, but on my tape, "Goddamn Devil" is track #7 instead of #2. As for the album itself: had grunge and ehe ensuing abominations not come along and spoiled the fun, this, along with Skid Row's Slave to the Grind, is what metal would've evolved into. This is HARD rock! The Fizz Picks: "Neighbor" (blasted this one good and loud when I moved into a ritzy subdivision a couple years a

... a couple years ago, just to let 'em know what they were in for!), "So Damn Cool," "Same Side" (very nice and funky, despite some embarrassingly cheesy racial-harmony lyrics), the thundering groove of "I'll Keep Tryin'," "Everything About You" (although I could've done without Julia "Pat" Sweeney), "Madman," and "Mr. Recordman" (a very nice melodic solo in there, and some deep Whit Crane vocals.) 8/10!

Okay, I consider myself the biggest Ugly Kid Joe fan in the world. There are 5 covers to this album, the first one is the cover shown here which is the standard American release, then there is the censored version which is a white cover with their icon wrapped up with chains and stuff which is also the picture inside the American release. 3rd there is the American tour pack cd with the fold out and pop up picture, then there's the Australian tour pack version with the pop up fold out similar

to the American release but the statue of liberty has his thumb up instead of his finger. Then the last cover is just the normal Australian release, which is very similar to the one shown on this site except the writing on the cover which says America's Least Wanted is slightly smaller.

From: Fizz Date: November 30, 2002 at 23:30
Thanks, David. Mine must be the censored one, because in the track listeing, it says "G*dd*mn Devil," instead of "Goddamn Devil." Hell, I got it at Wal-Mart, before I knew they did stuff like censoring CD's and tapes and whatnot. (Actually, what they do is insist that the labels do it or they won't stock it.) Luckily, I don't hear any bleeps or drop-outs or other editing in the music, so I'm guessing that was left alone.

From: David Date: December 1, 2002 at 0:56
The main reason they made a censored version is because the statue of liberty had his middle finger in the air giving a flip off sign, where as the censored version didn't have the statue of liberty on the cover at all.

From: Fizz Date: December 1, 2002 at 19:44
just so yta know, David (I realize you're from Australia), the Statue of Liberty is female.

From: FM Date: May 27, 2003 at 18:11
Whew...this is indeed a *great* cd, original, fresh and with great musicianship. The lyrics are humourous and the music is brilliant and fun. There are hard rocking songs as well as more funky ones, all blended together by an unique and distinctive style. This album is definitely a must-have for every rocker and metalhead! Great sounds too. I'd give it a 9.5 out of 10!

From: Shagnasty318 Date: November 1, 2003 at 13:17
Great Album, Very few albums have a great song for every track. This is one of those. I grew up listening to them, good memories trapped on disc.

From: love metal Date: December 23, 2003 at 19:25
the only album by ugly kid joe worth having. fun and funny, too bad they went down hill after this.

From: Impaler Date: February 28, 2004 at 12:29
Finally! an album title that tells it like it is!, and this is by far their 'best' album. I CAN stand to listen to most of this one but this band just never made me a believer...maybe I'm just not 12 years old anymore! I know a lot people dig these guys but I can't put my finger on why.

From: bundy Date: March 12, 2004 at 0:40
Goddamn Devil alone is worth the price of admission, baby...

From: Uusiolli Date: August 5, 2004 at 23:16
Everything About You is just a great rock-anthem. The rest is not as good. Quite nice anyway. 7,5/10

From: Rycheage Date: August 5, 2004 at 23:45
This tried so hard to be another Saigon Kick and IMO fell far behind. "Everything About You" is a decent track but not worthy of the star status it got. This was the harbinger of things to come, the one step before Nirvana. I cannot in good faith recommend this.

From: Artie Date: September 6, 2004 at 11:32
Don't listen to the prior two posts. Almost every track on this album sounds as good as their 'hit' song. The production and harmony is top-notch. The rhythm section and melodies are hard-rockingly catchy. The guitar is in-your-face. There's a funky groove to certain tracks, and a juvenile nature at times, but I think it complements the metal elements very nicely. After a few listen, you'll realize that the whole album plays a lot better than it reads.

From: Geoff Date: September 6, 2004 at 20:27
I really like this album. Awesome commercial hard rock. 'Goddamn devil' is a killer track and my fave, 'Busy bee' is an awesome ballad, 'So damn cool' is another killer rocker, the singles are all awesome and the last track 'Mr Recordman' is a great little ditty. Overall, this is a good solid hard rock album.

From: rockhardrock Date: May 7, 2007 at 14:13
well 92 was golden year for grunge. But that year should be remmenbered by that album.Their style of music was something special-they were mixing heavy metal with some funk and results were great records. This album is their best.It gots such great rockers:"goddamn devil","panhandlin prince","so damn cool","everything about you","neighbor",...and one great cover ballad "cats in the cradle". Their videos are awsome-makes you laugh a lot. 2 thumbs up!!!

From: hair metal again Date: November 15, 2009 at 5:08
very good hard rock from UGLY KID JOE in their own way.i mean that these guys surely know how to rock, but also like their music to be sometimes heavy, sometimes funky and sometimes funny!their strong point is the good songwriting and the excellent guitar work.many good songs like "neighbor","panhandlin' prince","cats in the cradle" and the funky "same side".very enjoyable release and not only one or two hits.

From: MetalPete1031 Date: September 11, 2013 at 13:17
A very good album, with standouts "Neighbor", "Goddamn Devil", "Cats in Cradle", "Busy Bee" and some others. This has all the elements UKJ is known for, and probably their most popular album. However, I urge those who like the harder tracks to get "Menace to Sobriety". You won't be disappointed.

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: September 11, 2013 at 21:22
I have this one on cassette, with a slightly different track order. Naturally, Ugly Kid Joe were lumped in with the hair bands, because their first single, the surprise hit "Everything About You" had that sound. But the rest of their material was both heavier and sometimes funkier than the radio hits (both of them) would have you believe, and their tongue-in-cheek humor was a bit different from the typical tits-and-ass, we-like-it-loud lyrics of most glam bands. Grinding riffs show up in "Do Damn Cool" and "I'll Keep Tryin," while "Same Side" is super-loose-jointed-funky, porn-like wah-wah effect included. The quirky humor rears its head on songs like "Neighbor" and "Panhandlin' Prince," and Rob Halford himself stops by to lend some backing vocals on "Goddamn Devil." Other highlights include the light-hearted "Busy Bee," the remixed 'Madman," and the acoustic-strumed music-biz satire "mr. Record Man."

From: Doghouse Reilly Date: September 11, 2013 at 21:24
A kid in my eighth-grade English class actually submitted the lyrics to "Goddamn Devil" as his own work for a poetry assignment, and didn't get caught. The teacher was reading a few of the poems aloud, read part of that one, and said, "I don't think Justin feels too good about himself."

From: Doug Date: September 12, 2013 at 18:36
Am thinking little 'ol Justin was bringing out his inner Rob Halford!!

From: rick kerch vzla Date: May 4, 2014 at 20:54
Solid release by U.K.J!!!...best songs IMHO are "Cats In The Cradle"(the famous Cat Steven's song),"Everything About You" & "Madman"(in fact these 3 songs were released as singles)...some other very good moments are tracks 1,4,6,8,10 & 13...in general lines,a tasty album...the guys are still around in 2014 for some concerts here and there, hope they release new material soon .90/100

From: Auslander Date: April 11, 2021 at 14:33
My release is a "Australian Tour Edition" that is the same as the regular release other than it has the Australian flag featured instead of the American one on the digipak cover. As we all know, the name of this band was inspired by the glam group Pretty Boy Floyd, and is basically opposite them. The lyrics are pretty tongue in cheek, as were the videos. It is a fun album that broke really big in Australia due to the inspired Harry Chapin cover. An excellent release at the end of the hard rock era. Graded A. Essential.
