From: Nelson Date: July 22, 2001 at 1:50
This is definitely one gem in my archives that ranks very high on my list. I'll never forget the day this c.d. fell into my hands, after years of searching;I just flipped. Anyway, my favorite songs include 'eye to eye', 'beat of a heart', and especially 'still in love', which i dedicate to my wife, the love of my life. A must in one's collection in the melodic rock genre.

One of the best melodic rock releases ever....I love this cd! 'Money Talks', 'The Harder They Come',and the super ballad 'Love is All You Need' are my personal faves. If you don't wanna shell out the bucks for this OOP gem on Ebay, it IS possible to find all these songs on Kazaa, you just gotta give it time.

I thought this was much better than their previous stuff. The vox improved about 2000r so. Good solid disc, I like 'The Harder They Come' and 'Dangerous' myself. How's the bonus track, I have this on vinyl w/o that song?

From: TIM Date: July 8, 2003 at 18:08
Blue Charvel, I have the bonus. If you can handle mp3s email at rio1harris@aol.com. If not, I'll listen and let you know what I think. I liked this album as well.

'On the Other Side' is a mid-tempo rocker; I like it a lot. However, they do repeat the title phrase ALOT in this song.

From: RR-Finland Date: August 27, 2003 at 15:17
My brothers neighbour told my bro, that he should listen this 220Volt band. Well I bought 'Eye To Eye' -Lp from secondhand store and that guy was right: this band kicks ass! I listened that record 2 weeks in the row!

From: Nanteau Date: December 1, 2003 at 19:58
If you got money (me haven't) buy the reissue --maybe you get more for it someday.

From: Rocker76 Date: January 8, 2004 at 15:01
Just found this used on CASSETTE for $2. More than got my money's worth. Love Is All You Need is worth the price by itself - much less the rest of the songs. Quite simply one of the best melodic hard rock albums of the 80s IMO. And I'm not exaggerating. If you're into Giuffira, Europe, House of Lords, etc., do yourself a big favor and track this down. Aboslutely brilliant. DOES ANYBODY KNOW IF ANY OF THE OTHER RELEASES BY 220 VOLT ARE THIS GOOD?

From: Rocker76 Date: January 8, 2004 at 16:01
Just found the CD! Not cheap but it's well worth it. I cannot say enough about how good these guys are. If you are into AOR, Melodic Hard Rock, 80s metal, etc., etc. FIND THIS CD! One of the best of that whole genre of rock. SIMPLY AWESOME IN EVERY WAY.

From: jessica96fish Date: April 1, 2004 at 15:14
if this ain't the best cd ever.then show me what is.BRILLIANT OUTSTANDING COOL AS HELL JUST BUY THIS ROCK CLASSIC.I COULD GO ON ALL DAY ABOUT THIS CD.IT REALLY IS THAT GOOD.IF YOU ONLY GET ONE ALBUM IN YOUR LIFE TIME.MAKE THIS THE ONE.BRILLIANT.HAVE I SAID THAT ONCE.FANTASTIC.

From: Andi Date: May 22, 2004 at 16:07
One of the best Melodic Rockalbums of the 80's!

From: Geoff Date: May 23, 2004 at 20:40
Indeed, no doubting this gem. Although I quite dislike all other 220 Volt albums, this is an excellent album. A greta melodic hard rock release with barely a filler amongst the killer tracks. Excellent, excellent, excellent album!

From: TIM (2) Date: June 4, 2004 at 5:56
Can anyone tell me who this sounds like? I heard one track from another album and they were certainly heavier than Europe. I don't mind paying the high price if this is that good, but must be melodic with keys for my tastes?...

From: Rycheage Date: June 5, 2004 at 0:58
'Eye To Eye' was arguably their best album, combining a sound which integrated the best bits of Return, Def Leppard and Europe. Lundholm's vocals are better than anything else he's recorded, bringing a comparison to those Norwegian guys in Stage Dolls and also Return. One of the best songs on the album is 'Beat Of A Heart', which is Shadow King meets Def Leppard. Nice chorus with a mellow guitar surge through the middle section. Quality stuff here.

From: Date: June 12, 2004 at 20:06
After some decent straigh up metal releases, this one is pure melodic hard rock/aor. Reminds me of maybe a heavier Europe circa Out Of This World. Love Is All You Need is one of the greatest power ballads ever. 8/10

From: TIM (2) Date: July 2, 2004 at 13:29
Really good album of melodic hard rock, which is (ever so slightly) reminiscent of early Europe (without the keys). For me it's not a classic, but is still well worth buying. This is pretty readily available now as it had a re-issue last year.

From: James Date: August 3, 2004 at 21:31
you know, i forgot how good this cd is till i pulled it out today and played it. I need to play this thing more!!!

From: Jonny_B Date: September 1, 2004 at 21:11
I've listened to several 220 Volt titles, but none of them came close to the greatness of 'Eye To Eye.' And now it's reissued, I'll finally be able to get an original copy, rather than confiscating my bro's copy on a permanent basis.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: November 9, 2004 at 0:27
SIN DUDA UN BUEN ALBUM, SU DISCO MAS ORIENTADO AL HARD MELODICO, BUENOS TEMAS COMO LOS TRACKS 2,8,9 Y SOBRETODO Beat of a Heart Y Love Is All You Need SIN DUDA LOS MEJORES CORTES DEL ALBUM, EN MI MODESTO PARECER, QUE MODESTO PARECER NI OCHO CUARTOS, ESTOS 2 SON LOS MEJORES CORTES, LO DIGO CATEGORICAMENTE. SI LO TUYO ES EL HARD MELODICO/AOR COMO A MI, ENTONCES NO PIERDAS ESTE ALBUM. SALUDOS DESDE ICA-PERU.

From: Big Papa K Date: December 24, 2004 at 10:50
220 Volt's earlier releases were more metal, but the songwriting did not seem as focused as it would be on this effort. It sounds like they have picked up some influences from fellow countrymen Europe on this one and it helps. The title track, 'Love Is All You Need' and 'The Harder They Come' are fantastic. 8/10

From: z4roxx Date: December 26, 2004 at 2:41
220 VOLT/eye to eye REMINDS ME MUCH TO BANDS SUCH AS RETURN AND CRYSTAL BLUE...BY THE WAY I PREFER A LITTLE BIT THOSE 2 BAND AS 220 V.,I GIVE IT 7,5/10,GOOD STUFF ANYWAY AND APPRECIABLE SONGS,TOO...

From: Scandinavia Date: January 28, 2005 at 18:45
Found this one very, very cheap the other day...Listened to it a couple of times and it's not worth all the hype at all! VERY mediocre...They try so hard to be the next EUROPE but get nowhere close...IMHO

From: Geoff Date: March 24, 2005 at 23:58
Man did they learn to write some memorable songs for this one! This is one of my all time favourite releases by a European band. 'The Harder They Come' sets the pace with massive hooks, a new very melodic sound and you know you're in business as 'I'm On Fire', 'Beat of a Heart', 'Eye to Eye' all fly by with killer riffs, tight musicianship and huge melodies / choruses, 'Love Is All You Need' has a mind-blowing pre-chorus that is a highlight of this disc and is a beautiful ballad, 'Dangerous' has

From: Geoff Date: March 24, 2005 at 23:59
(cont.) another of those stunning pre-choruses, layered with massive hooks, 'Still in Love' is my favourite track of this disc and a mid-tempo heartfelt gem of the highest order, and overall, the rest are nice solid slabs of melodic hard rock. Very good album from this band. Highly recommended.

From: Scandinavia Date: March 25, 2005 at 3:22
Hmmmm, sounds like I oughta check this one out once again...It never pleased me as I recall...

From: forgotten warrior Date: May 7, 2005 at 1:17
while i will agree with the better songs part i much prefer the HEAVIER sound of earlier albums like 'electric messengers'.this is just a total sell-out to cash in on the success that EUROPE was having at the time, however it is undisputibly thier best album.

From: Dreamaholic Date: June 1, 2005 at 4:53
I mostly agree with Geoff on this one although I do think there are a couple fillers. That doesn't stop this from being a killer CD though. I love The Harder They Come, Beat of a Heart, On the Other Side, and Money Talks. I picked up a sealed re-release with the warrior and the medusa on the cover, came with a fold out poster of the cover art and the bonus track. Money well spent!

From: voorhees Date: August 8, 2005 at 13:03
definately their best album to date, although Lethal Illusion isnt bad either. I kind of stayed away from the whole AOR thing for a while in the early '90's and this is the cd that got me back into it. Some songs sound a bit like Europe which isnt a bad thing necessarily. Great album!

From: Mediaab Date: December 7, 2005 at 7:59
"Eye to Eye" was these guys' masterpiece!! This album is 99 out of 100 on melodicrock.com's scale, it is really that good!! To some extent I do agree that 220 Volt was a one album wonder, cause this cd is so much better than all the rest - the twin guitars never sounded better, great solos and riffs, tight rhythm section, and 100% world class singing by pure AOR-voice Jocke Lundholm, plus excellent song-writing and production!! ALL EXCELLENT!! The original 1988 "orange eye" artwork rules!

From: sluss528 Date: April 4, 2006 at 13:29
it is very easy to see why this is there best cd,mad max norman produced it! nuff said!

From: metalalways Date: August 10, 2006 at 0:06

From: Thunderstruck Date: August 20, 2006 at 15:55
Not one bad tune! A must have!!! "Love Is All You Need", "Eye To Eye", "I'm On Fire", "Still In Love", "Beat Of A Heart" & "Dangerous" are fantastic tunes!!!

Un clasico del M-R escandinavo, sin nada descartable y algunas joyitas en forma de cancion como BEAT OF YOUR HEART, LOVE IS ALL YOU NEED, DANGEROUS, STILL IN LOVE y ON THE OTHER SIDE.

From: Magnus Date: April 1, 2007 at 9:51
Again..Just awsome stuff! Scandi AOR/MHR to die for..

From: CLUTCH Date: October 5, 2007 at 23:35
I like the other releases but they truly nailed it with this one. A melodic classic in every sense. Heavy enough to satisfy my metal side with enough depth and melody to stick with me days later. For any newbies to the band, this is the one to seek out first. Top f*cking notch.

From: VICE Date: October 15, 2007 at 6:09

Eye To Eye, What an album!, this is their best work, A really cool intro with "The Harder They Come" (amazing guitars), "Beat of a Heart", "Eye to Eye", "Live it Up", it´s a great record, produced by Max Norman (Mean good guitars sound, check his works with "Coney Hatch", "Megadeth" "Trash", etc), a very good album from one of the finest sweden bands of the 80´s.

From: $$ixx Date: September 17, 2013 at 20:13
Melodic hardrock perfection, 100/100. I like everything from the great musicians, fantastic vocal performance and killer song after killer song on this disc. Even the bonus track smokes. Miles better than their other albums and truly a masterpiece, I listen to it almost every day. If you like Europé, FM, Treat and those heavy weights - don't miss out on this gem. Production and mix are amazing too.

From: JONBONPIGO Date: October 11, 2014 at 18:34
Near flawless Melodic Metal..."Eye To Eye".. "Live It Up" .."Dangerous" & "Still In Love" are my favourites, but really other than "The Harder They Come" no throw aways.. Overall..The Choruses are Catchy..The Guitars Rock..and The Vocalist Soars..in all the right places...

excellent release for 220 VOLT back in 88 with Max Norman on board choosing a more commercial path but without losing their trademark sound!if you like EUROPE then you def need to have this one too!"still in love","love is all you need","beat of a heart","dangerous" ,"the harder they come" are fine songs indeed!highly recommended

From: Stixx Date: January 31, 2022 at 17:06
220 Volt made an album in heaven, beautiful melodic rock CD with killer voice, not that different from Joey Tempest, clean, great range and pitch, and very memorable choruses. According to guitarist Mats Karlsson, the band tried to transfer the contract to Epic in the US (as part of Sony), since European label Swedish CBS could not afford a launch in the US, but in Sweden the label thought that "it is our band that we developed and invested in" and did not want to release the contract for a solid US release. When time for a US launch was possible at last, it was too late, momentum gone. Still, it sold about 200,000 copies. Awesome album!! Music On CD – MOCCD-14054 re-released this gem in 2021 with its original and best cover artwork and sound. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UunKDVYFKy8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8F5Q4NXdvw
