Another great release. A classic. Can't pick a favorite. They're all good ones. I have to say that after this release they started their downward sprial.

Although this was released as grunge was starting to get its dirty little fingers into the market, you'd never know it by how cleanly and effectively this CD rocks. "When I Look Into Your Eyes" is a ballad of shattering force, with plenty of breathless rockers to lay waste to any doubters who thought Firehouse couldn't match their debut.

Though I haven't listened to this cd too many times, Firehouse's 'Hold Your Fire' is probably the band's best & most inspirational release of all-time. While their self-titled debut may be the source of most of the band's attention, their truly were some knock-off songs on that album, one of them being "All She Wrote" which shamelessly rips off the riff from Ratt's "Round & Round". Still, their debut was quite impressive. My personal favorite cut off 'Hold Your Fire': "Reach For The Sky".

I've been listening to Firehouse since spring of 2000.They are the best hard rock 80s band. Girls and boys out there, this is the album for you to fulfill your most erotic moments. This is the album I would take with me to the other side. Full of energy, optimistic hard-rock melodies, and tears in the end of your summer days. Gosh.

I prefer the first one just a leeeeettle bit better over this one, but during the summer of '92, I was hopelessly addicted to "Reach for the Sky." This album has some clunkers on it to me. "When I Look Into Your Eyes," is a shameless rehash of "Love of a Lifetime," right down to the pre-chorus that doesn't show up in the second verse, and going from G to A after the solo. "You're Too Bad" sounds an awful lot like "Shake and Tumble." The best ones here are tracks 1, 3, 8, 9 and 11.

Fizzy-- I think that most of us realise that "When I Look Into Your Eyes" is somewhat of a copy of "Love Of A Lifetime" in one form or another, BUT I still believe "WILIYE" is better than the latter. It's a power ballad to the perfection, man!

Don't know but I couldn't listen Firehouse so much although they played within the spectre of my music taste. "Sleeping With You" and "You're Too Bad" are my favourites in this CD. I've also noticed some resemblance in the singers's voice to Mark Slaughter. He's not imitating but sounds similar in shouting somewhere. In general, for me even if not a super album, this nonetheless worths to be bought.

Este disco es un auténtico regalazo para nuestros oidos. Cuando lo escuché por primera vez no sabía si reir de alegría o llorar de la emoción. MOST of the songs on this release are balls out rockers. I can think of no better way to kick a record off than 'Reach For The Sky'. However, CJ has this habit of gaying up his lyrics to where they're almost laughable. I don't care how catchy 'Sleeping With You' is, it's plain stupid. He's a grown man for goodness sakes. There had to be a better song in that melody. Still, after skipping that and 'When I Look...', you've got a great album. 8.5/10.

From what I've been reading on other sites, It seems Firehouse has returned to the sound of their first 2 albums with their new release "Prime Time". However I havent heard any of the new songs and the official Firehouse website doesnt have any samples. Also the new album was unfortunatley released only in Japan, but it can be ordered from the Firehouse website. It would be great if they have finally gone back to the style of music they used to play.

The first track reach for the sky is one of my all-time favorite songs. But after that this album totaly reminds me of def leppard's adrenalize. Too damn lite, and not enough substance!

Actually Big Papa K, those are my favourite 2 tracks! With the slightly progressive sounding title-track 3rd. "Sleeping With You" is more like the debut material, and with any justice would've been a huge hit single. Excluding the excellent "Good Acoustics", this was their last great album...

I liked this one too, I still like the self-titled better, but as said above the production is SMOKIN' on this one, and the songs are very good. I got this when it came out and I wasn't disappointed then nor am I now. Now you wanna talk disappointment, listen to some of the crap they put out AFTER this album...

I'm very surprised any fans of the first album would not like this one also, as some of the songs and the production are very similar. Listen to "Don't treat me Bad" alongside "Sleeping with You", "Love of a Lifetime" next to "When I look into your Eyes" etc. Granted this album is a touch heavier on the guitar, and has a couple of fillers which the debut didn't, but is still the same quality. If you like this check out the 2nd TEER album also...

Personally I don't understand how anyone could not like any Firehouse album, they are all solid. This one is no exception and contains some killer tunes. My favorites are the same as TIM. Sleeping With You is my fave, Reach For The Sky, When I Look Into Your Eyes, The Meaning Of Love, Hold The Dream, and Rock You Tonight round out the good, and great songs. These guys had an ear for melody and I'm a big fan of their lyrics too. 8/10

This album, particularly the awesome 'Reach for the sky' is what got me hooked on Firehouse. I've just always loved the massive, heavy hard rock sound, filled to the brim with rich melody. Excellent band, and 'When I look into your eyes' remains a fave to this day. 'Hold the dream' is awesome too, as are the rockers here. Great solid CD!

IMO While their first album is a classic Hair Metal Gem, this isn´t, "Reach For The Sky", "Hold The Dream", "When I Look..." an the title track are all goods songs, but the rest are fillers, "Rock You Tonight"? What a clichè! AWEESOME MELODIC HARD ROCK ALBUM!!! Con eso digo todo. Para mi gusto, el mejor disco de FIREHOUSE, por encima del primero. Me parece que, esa dirección quizá mas AOR, le dá a este disco un sentido más melódico, con sentido comercial, pero sin perder el dinamismo y potencia propios de FIREHOUSE. De entrada "Reach For The Sky" es pura potencia y melodía, igual que en el primer disco; "Rock You Tonight" es un prodigio de tema hard rock, en plan himno contundente y melódico INCREIBLE...

"Sleeping With You Tonight" es mágica, asi de simple... uno de mis temas favoritos de siempre, pues esos teclados le dán un toque muy especial a un tema que nunca pierde en dinamismo y energía; "You´re Too Bad" es mas agresiva; "When I Look Into Your Eyes" otra powerballad soberbia, igual a "Love Of A Lifetime"; "Get In Touch" tiene energía a raudales; "Hold Your Fire" es demoledora; "The Meaning Of Love" en plan ritmico AOR; "Talk Of The Town" es un esplendido part hard rock...

"Life In The Real World" destaca por su melodía; "Mama Didn´t Raise No Fool" es super marchosa y para cerrar con broche de oro una regia balada que es "Hold The Dream"... En todo el disco hay energía, potencia y melodía a manos llenas: Leverty está que se sale con su guitarra, CJ Snare está perfecto a la voz(yo lo vi en concierto y el tipo no falla ni una) y los coros están magnificos...Tu amigo YIRO SEVENTH (antes PODEROSO YIRO) te lo recomienda!!!!

Awesome hair metal with a production that kicks harder than Van Damme. Without doubt a continuation of the sound of the debut, with a similiar quality of songwriting and style. Highlights are many but personal faves are slamming opener 'Reach For The Sky', skullcrushing 'Hold Your Fire' and smouldering closer 'Hold The Dream' but really everything here is top notch. ESSENTIAL 96/100

The first two Firehouse records are a lot better than they're given credit for. These guys had better songs, better vocals, better riffs than many other bands doing the same style of slick, polished, heavy-but-melodic hair-metal. Hold Your Fire's not as good as the first disc, to me, but still has plenty to like, like the title track, "Reach For The Sky," "Talk Of The Town," "Life In The Real World," "Mama Didn't Raise No Fool," "You're Too Bad." "When I Look Into Your Eyes" is awful though, just a cheap rehash of "Love Of A Lifetime," and not subtle about it either. You'll probably want to skip the next several albums, though.

If I was standing in front of a firing squad and they offered to play any CD I wanted while they banged bullets into my body, it's very possible I would request this one, specifically the song "Hold Your Fire," which would seem most appropriate at that particular moment in time. But seriously, folks, this is a huge-as-hell helping of L.A.-style hard rock/hair-metal, prettied up once again with David Prater's perfectly pristine production that will rock your house. Nearly two decades after its release, this album is still worth holding onto and continues to receive frequent spin-time in my stereo. Whether you prefer this one over the debut is a matter of personal preference, but it's safe to say that any fan of one will love the other, as they're strikingly similar (perhaps too similar, some would argue). Listen, if the average melodic hard rock CD is like a cozy little campfire, then this CD is a five-alarm inferno hot enough to consume you in a maelstrom of melodious music.

Ed, you kidding? Okay, let's take it in historical context. First comes "Love Of A Lifetime," which hits #3 on the charts. So then less than a year after that song peaked, why, here comes "When I Look Into Your Eyes,", using the same chord changes and the EXACT same structure. Play them back to back, and you can't miss what a carbon copy it is, and with lyrics that race Aerosmith's 'I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" for the barf-bucket. Now look, don't get me wrong, you can see from my previous comments that I like the first two Firehouse discs a lot, particularly the first, but let's call it like it is here.

hair metal perfection is what we have here.in the same path with their first release FIREHOUSE proove that they rule the scene and put themselves in the front.excellent production by david prater,amazing guitar work by bill and screaming vocs by cj.the most strong point though is the songwriting which is amazing.many mega hits ,you cant choose any songs and the hair metal music flows inside you.perfect!

I know I'm quite alone here, but for some reason this band just doesn't do much for me. I'm a huge fan of 80's hard rock, but somehow this is just... too 80's, too slick, too polished, too Bon Jovi. And I like Bon Jovi. Yes, they can play, the singer is good, and I can't say that the songs are bad. But it just sounds like a skillful compilation of all the clichés of 80's hard rock. Plus they lack a harder edge and raw sound of bands like Wildside and Steelheart from the same period of time (early 90's). I don't know, maybe I just should have found these guys 20 years earlier.

Well, that could be just me, but that's how I find it. OK, I haven't gone through every Firehouse release, but this and the debut seem to be the ones people mostly rave about. To me, Steelheart has more balls. Of course they have a softer side as well, but still. Anyway, as I said, it could be that I just found this band and haven't gotten into it yet.

I'd classify 'em both in pretty much the same league overall, though. Personally, I think Firehouse had better songs and a heavier producton.

in1993 i was worried and a little deseperate cause we were among the shit grunge wawe.medias in france like rock hard or hard force says that aor, melodic rock and hard fm were dead.in 1994 these medias have written without smile that "slang" the horrible and awful def leppard album was "the record of the century".poor guys.i remember the first time i ve heard this record.i don t know this band before and i ve heard it at gibert joseph, a big used cd shop in lyon.i have choose to listen this cd cause the members of the band have a great hard rock look,not the stupid and ridiculous grunge look.i ve heard only "reach for the sky.no need to heard the others i ve buy immediatly the cd.it s a masterpiece no fillers only killers.all songs are at the same level than "reach for the sky".this band had all:good production,super singer,super guitarist, a very solid rthymth section and some songs who hooked you at the first spin.in this time this record was a light in the night.one bonus in japan!

After the great success of first album and tour in 1990 and 1991, I remember being satisfied with this awesome follow-up. Only minus is the incredibly repetitive and unimaginative lyrics in the choruses of the songs Rock you tonight and Sleeping with you (tonight). How many times can you rhyme on "tonight - right", yikes. Compared to great songs like Reach for the sky and the excellent title track, they unfortunately drag down the rating. All other songs are superb, so they could have released just 10 songs and gotten a 100 rating from me. Still a very good album, make no mistake.
