This album should've gotten more play across the country than it did! "Somewhere" and "Say Goodbye" are great "feelings" songs, and "85 M.P.H." ROCKS!! If you like the sweet voice of famous bands like Styx and Journey, you'll LOVE Airkraft!

From: Clint Daniels Date: March 20, 2001 at 10:57
This band rocks and they also have 2 other titles besides the ones listed here

A must-own masterpiece for any melodic hard rock fan, a great helping of big AOR hooks, catchy choruses, and generous backing vocals. Personally, I felt the band's debut lacked something, but whatever that "something" was, they found it for this sophomore effort and delivered a classic melodic hard rock album. Get into this AIRKRAFT...you'll be glad you took the ride.

I have seen this band in the Northwoods of Wisconsin in the early 80's. If someone has the song Alien Probe. Could you please send the song in MP3 format to chasab@pctcnet.net Thank You, Mike

after the band split doug sat in with my band (dear mom) for a couple of nights at the waterfront in ottomwa iowa, played friends in low places and were not ever invited back again....thanks doug, you old slapper!!!!!!!!

Reno, this album is an example of what I call over-board with keyboard. The guy has got an excellent voice but that's not enough for me.

Greetings All! Doug Dixon is currently playing with Standing Hampton, a high energy rock group out of Des Moines Iowa. Check it out at www.standinghampton.com. Thanks!

Another clear winner from the Midwestern boys! Not quite as great as their self-titled cd, but still extremely good and with what seems to be a more updated sound. BTW, the self-titled cd was not the band's first album. They had two more on vinyl in the 80's that are very rare. I have one of these ("Let's Take Off") and it's a lot more progressive than their later two efforts, but if you do find them...pick them up! They are both rare!

Looking for mp3 of Alien Probe from 1983 Let's Take Off if anyone can hook me up please. Would like a port of the whole album if it is available somewhere. ccchiro@fuse.net

These guys rule! Any word on them getting back together?

From: Jim Aho Date: November 21, 2003 at 12:39
Let's take off? I have that album. As far as converting it, hmm, I'll try. Man, that requires a turntable wired to a computer and the ability to convert to mp3 format. Do you realize how insane that is? But, like I said, I'll give it my best shot. And I agree, Airkraft rocked when I saw them. Contact me for free personal copies if I can pull the conversion process off (that is IF): Jim Aho cosmothefish@yahoo.com

The music is typical melodic rock, bordering on AOR. Everything you could expect in this genre of music is here. Comparisons to the likes of Journey and Shooting Star come easy, while the mix of guitars, keyboards and a heavily riffed rhythm section is just about right.

I lived in Ottumwa, Iowa for 3 years in the early 90's, Airkraft was the second best thing I took with me when I moved on--(the first being my wife!) I listened to In the Red constantly back then and still break it out once in a while. Highly recommended cd.

From: gener8tr Date: May 5, 2004 at 14:47
85 M.P.H. will take you right back to the summer of 1986. Enjoy!

From: Geoff Date: May 24, 2004 at 22:15
Now this one is more like it! After the weak previous album this one has more balls and is a great melodic hard rock expedition. Outside writers aplenty in some of the tracks, but either way they're great songs. Much better than previous album and a great rockin' release.

From: TIM (2) Date: June 8, 2004 at 4:35
Preferable to the debut, but I'm still not enamoured by it. I'll take the first 2 tracks and the last 2 and skip all the others. Great keyboard sound, but only half the album is pure AOR, the other half is very standard hard-rock fare and far from memorable. A good release, but hardly essential.

From: Brent Date: June 20, 2004 at 0:29
I saw them play at a small bar called the Frog's Hop near Cadott, WI in the early/mid 1990's. It was honestly one of the best live shows I've seen. The place got packed and the band electrified the crowd that night. I bought this album the very next day (couldn't find any others), and still enjoy listening to it. 85 mph is one of my all-time favorite "crank it up" type of songs to play in the car. IMHO, the only reason they didn't make it bigger was timing. Grunge was emerging right then.

From: Gage A. Mikels Date: June 30, 2004 at 23:42
This band is freakin' awesome! I take keyboard lessons from the keyboardist Doug Dixon! They should have been bigger!

Just to note that the two earlier Airkraft albums 'Proximity' & 'Lets Take Off' have just been re-issued by Mitch Viegut on cd for the first time, albeit sparsely packaged CD-R's directly from the vinyl versions, unless my hearing is gone. Better than nothing I suppose, as both are good mid 80's AOR albums. Also avaliable is a much better sounding 'Best Of.. +1 unreleased track 'Midnight Confessions'. Your Airkraft collection is now complete!!!

From: Mike Date: May 13, 2005 at 16:56
man, this is radio-friendly! I like it! great to hear a Mark Free's Someday... tune from somebody else. 'Love has no mercy' probably my fave song

I can't get over the amazing AOR chorus of "Heaven". What an addictive song! "Someday You'll Come Running" and "85 MPH" are great songs as well but "Heaven" is my fave!

From: overkillrulz Date: March 21, 2009 at 9:54
This cd is excellent, 9/10, but the previous 2 releases are not worth having.

From: happy2849 Date: December 6, 2010 at 12:25
Great rock band with excellent vocals and musicianship. Another with keys and melody that rings my chimes. I have the original 1990 Premier Records issue and will keep it forever.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 22, 2012 at 21:31
By far the best album of the band and this time with a male singer(Dave Saindon)..."Someday You'll Come Running"(a song composed by Mark Free, nowadays Marcie Free and covered by the likes of FM U.K.),"Heaven","Feed Me To The Fire"(sounds like a Triumph influenced song),"Tonight" & "Say Goodbye" are the highlights of the album...enjoyable...87/100

From: 123charpenay Date: September 3, 2016 at 16:52
without any doubt "in the red" is their best record.nevertheless they don t plays in champion s league they stay a second zone s band.their a o r is decent easy and nice to listen but not more.nothing spectacular nothing extraordinary.
