I submitted this release as it's a top 5 contender for 2011. I have never been a Pride of Lions fan, as the band was a talent but not up my alley. Toby Hitchcock hits a bulls-eye with 'Mercury Down' in a big part thanks to Erik Martensson from Eclipse/ W.E.T. handling all the songwriting/production/instruments. Toby has a great voice and IMO was underused singing Survivor-style (POL). On his first solo release he's a man on fire, finally cutting loose and finding his sweet spot with his dynamic range being fully utilized. My favorite track 'I Should Have Said' is best described as a bombastic 'wall of sound'(melodic perfection). Make no mistake this album has a enough weight to be classified as 'melodic hard rock' with tracks 'Mercury Down' 'I Should have said' 'Tear down the barricades'. This is a top-tier MHR album proving that Toby is one of the premier vocalists on the scene today and Erik is a multifaceted talent.‘In Progress’(Work of Art) can't hold 'Mecury's Down' jock strap.

Very good album by the "voice" of Pride Of Lions...undoubtebly a release that is pretty worth having it mainly because of the great songs(almost the whole album is a "hit single")for some people it can have this effect...my fave tracks are 2,"If It's To Be(It's Up To Me)" & "Summernights In Cabo" but add to those too "This Is The Moment","Strong Enough","Let Go","I Should Have Said" & "Just Say Goodbye"...enjoyable album of a fantastic singer....94/100

As with the WOA album, loads of ridiculous hype surrounding this one, but the 4 full tracks I had heard were really strong, so maybe, just maybe, it would live up to expectation. I will say that the coupling of Toby and Erik Martennsson make a bit of a dream team musically, as they have come up with a mightily good disc with some great songs. As with WOA, consistency is the name of the game here, 'This Is The Moment' 'Strong Enough' 'Summer Nights In Cabo' are excellent and hand on heart, there are NO tunes anywhere near average. All very positive I think you'll agree,So,even after all the positives, why am I feeling a little bit underwhelmed!!

Expect this one to be at the top--if not THE top--of many "Best of 2011" lists. After gaining recognition with more AOR-oriented stuff, Toby dives headlong into melodic hard rock waters and pulls it off without a hitch. Fans of this genre will probably find themselves getting all hot 'n bothered like a virgin at the Playboy Mansion as one delicious hook after another comes pouring out of the speakers and invades your mind with sonic pleasure. While the hype on this one is even more over-the-top than some of the choruses, I seriously doubt most melodic hard rock fans will feel let down by this album.

This is totally AOR-heaven! A must buy.

...or even better. Buy the Japanese edition with a special version of "Strong Enough" where Toby sings duet with the mighty Erik Martensson!

Never liked Pride of Lions. But this one - its a thumps up! Excellent album from start to finish. Big thanks to Erik and Magnus as well. Powerfully delivered by Toby with full of emotions. There s so many good songs in here. 'One day I'll stop loving you' is the only song I didn't really enjoy. The chorus was a let down after some nice verses.

Sorry to disagree with the comments above, this cd is very monotonous, there's no depth whatsoever in the songs, all there is to hear is a very tiresome wall of noise with interchangeable songs you immediately forget. A waste of talent really, given the names on show.

IMO Toby Hitchcock has to be a top 5 AOR vocalist. His range and control and pitch are top notch. This cd has a lot of highlights. favs are: 1,2,5,6,7 & 9. These tracks "grabbed me" at first listen. I heard them and thought to myself (WOW!! What killer songs! Best I've heard in a long time.) If you like Pride Of Lions I'm pretty sure you will love this cd. Give it a try. Keep rockin' and keep it melodic!
