Members of Firehouse and Furyon team up, and we get Furyhouse? Pretty good disc overall, and definitely the heaviest thingCJ Snare's been involved with since the first Firehouse album. Musically, Rubicon Cross is similar to the heaviest moments from that release. Muchhas been said about how much heavier and darker this is, but that's mostly in theme and spirit. The pussy-whipped ballads and "baby, baby, please don't leave me" rockers are gone, as the lyrics are a bit more inward-looking. CJ sounds as strong as ever, but without the shrill shrieks of old. Highlights for me are the crowd-pleaser "Locked And loaded," "Next Worst Enemy," "You Willl Remember Me," "Shine" and "All The Little Things." It just seems, more and more lately, that there's a finite supply of hooks and melodies in the universe, and this type of melodic hard rock just doesn't seem as catchy as it once did.

Just got this the other day. I agree with Doghouse, this ain't your father's Firehouse.

As much as I understand why CJ and Bill don't wish to record a new Firehouse album, I still wish they'd do it for the love of creating good music, preferably with the thick powerful sound of producer David Prater once more. They're still "killing it" live. During these circumstances, it was extra cool to have this excellent new band Rubicon Cross. It's not that similar to Firehouse, and it was not their intention either. What we got (11 years after Prime Time) is a very solid melodic rock album, with hints of old, and with quite some modern touches. Good performances and fine songwriting makes this a very cool album. I find myself liking its heaviness and good production a lot. Highly recommended.

Excellent album that is quality hard rock of a harder style, think Slave to the Grind for heaviness but not sound. Sound wise it is an updated 80s hard rock with 2010s production and influences. All except the last track All the Little Things which is a stinker. It is pop punk and maybe that is why the title is similar to a Blink182 song. But don't let that put you off cause every other track is pure quality, especially the first two tracks which are a great 1-2 punch. Grade B modern hard rock.
