The voice of Firehouse returns to the hard music scene with a 4-song EP that retains the slick polish of Snare's primary band but with a heavier edge. Frankly, you can cross two of these tracks off your list, as "Movin' On" and "Shine" just aren't good to merit repeat listens, but "Next Worse Enemy" and "R U Angry" are both killer. Snare's presence on the melodic hard rock/metal scene has been far too limited the last few years and it is a true rush to hear him back belting out some heavy-hitting tunes. It's unfortunate that half the EP kind of misses the mark, but the other two tunes are so good they pretty much make up for it, and given how long Snare goes between projects, his fans should be thankful for anything new that he releases. Hopefully in the not too distant future this short EP evolves into a full-length album. |
