Softer than 2 week old bananas, Agent is West Coast that makes Toto sound like Tool. 'I Can't Hold Back' is a highlight on an otherwise bland and forgettable affair.

From: Javier Date: July 11, 2002 at 5:22
Heyyy Mr. koogles, you shouldn´t write so stupid things at once!!!. But don´t worry,I understand you, because also I was drunk the first of january at 10:20, je,je... Anyway, the first lp of Agent is one of the lost jewels in the AOR genre and all the songs are marvelous (yeah, soft but perfect) and perhaps the best is Surrender. Please make a little effort and listen this amazing pearl. It´s simply brilliant.

From: koogles Date: July 11, 2002 at 17:04
Javier, keep playing those Richard Marx records... and check out Beau Geste if you really like Agent as much as you say you do.

From: koogles Date: July 11, 2002 at 17:04
First Shot 'From the Hip' too.

NO PUEDO OPINAR, NO HE TENIDO LA OPORTUNIDAD DE ESCUCHAR ESTE DISCO EL AOR ES LO MAS HERMOSO QUE HAY NO IMPORTA SI ES MUY TRANQUILO LO QUE IMPORTA ES LA CALIDAD Y EL ENTUSIASMO DEL GRUPO

From: 9 CHAMPIONS A 1 Date: September 1, 2002 at 5:22

Short and simple : this is one of the all time AOR classics !!!! All tracks are wonderful gems and so varied. What a pure AOR masterpiece this is !!! ESSENTIAL ! ESSENTIAL !!!!!

From: freddy de keyze Date: September 27, 2002 at 11:44
Mr. Koogles, this is indeed soft, but genial pure AOR ! I think you don't know the difference between AOR and melodic hardrock. And indeed, the second Beau Geste is a pearl too. Be serious, I know you can. And if you like the heavier stuff, I appreciate that, but don't call it AOR !

From: koogles Date: September 28, 2002 at 9:39
This is the lighter end of AOR. AOR isn't as narrow a genre as you think it is. Danger Danger did some AOR. So did Michael Bolton.

From: freddy de keyze Date: October 3, 2002 at 3:18
Dear Koogles, Agent is pure AOR and Danger Danger is melodic hardrock ! I'm following the scene now over more than 35 years and it still amazes me that some people still don't know the difference between AOR and Melodic hardrock ! Even journalists don't know the difference, a pity ! I admit, sometimes it's not always that easy. All the best !

From: purrfect-kat Date: October 3, 2002 at 4:04
koogles you shouldn't be making fun of another man's banana even if it is soft.

Freddy, as much as I respect your OPINION about what's AOR and what's not. It is still just that...your OPINION. Stop telling everyone they're wrong about how they categorize music, it's gettin' old dude...

Sorry about the tangent!

freddy I think the guys are gonna make a noose and put it around your neck soon if ya keep talking like that . . lol . . . You have no name on the message board so how can one comunicate with You without it being in the bands comment section? . . . I wanted to see your collection and maybe even trade some music, but if You are not interested in that then thats ok, but I do wish You be a member on the message board so we can all share opinions about AOR . . . (cum inside freddy) . . lol

Ok, if Freddy wants to talk to you, he'll register on the message board, if he doesn't, he won't. EOD. In about 2 days this thread gets cleaned... apparently certain people can't or won't read the text in red immediately above the box for adding comments...

From: purrfect-kat Date: October 3, 2002 at 19:32
Fair enuff Dan. . . freddy if ya can talk the talk then do the walk and come tell us on the message board what AOR is so we can at least respond to some of the things You say with our own opinions . . I am all up for a friendly debate so stop hiding in the comments section . . . You claim to have been following the scene for 35 years so if this is true then I would like to ask You some questions so I can understand more about AOR. . . 'remember' no runnin - no turnin back . . . (I be quiet now)

I got the topic started in flamefest. Go kick your competition's teeth in.

From: freddy de keyze Date: October 10, 2002 at 3:19
Fair enough, purrfekt kat, if I have some more time, I'll do that. At the moment I'm rather very busy. All the best !

From: purrfect-kat Date: October 10, 2002 at 6:19
When your time permits freddy then shoot me an email or register on the message board . I was actually suprised to see there were so many people at this site with a passion for music . I really do find some of the comments interesting and sometimes debatable. . I think the addition of the rare cds at HH sparked extra interest from people because there is only so long one can talk about bands like WWIII before yawning . now we just have to figure out a way to stop the use of multiple names at HH.

This Could be the Night).

End of all discussions : this is f...g BRILLIANT ! Pure AOR heaven, if you ask me ! And dear Koogles, as much as I like your opinion, here you are so wrong. This is genial ! Mr. freddy de keyze has it right again. I miss him ! BUY !

Give me a break, you ARE Freddy de Keyze! Your manner of speaking (and of course your origination address) totally give you away. Nice addition about how 'you miss him'...

great band, and what a great album.Every thack has got something you stick to while listening. This album seems to be honest, my fav track is #1

From: Rockhead Date: April 29, 2004 at 12:15
TOOOO soft for me. I liked the follow up better. This is bordering on coma music. I would lsten to this very late at night and fall peacefully asleep.

From: aorjocke Date: May 19, 2004 at 9:42
This is absolute pure AOR! No heavy guitars, just perfect fluffy keyboards and great lead and harmony vocals.I prefer the original singer 'Rick Livingstone' (also in Storming Heaven) who sings on the LP.Tracks like 'I can't hold back', 'Can't Stop' and 'Headlines' are all great songs. Then we have the monster song 'Surrender' who must be on every true AOR fans toplist, with a refrain you could die for.. Essential for fans of:Worrall,Shelter/First stop,Stan Meissner,Haywire,Fortune/85...BUY!

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: June 10, 2004 at 1:53
BUEN ALBUM !!!RECOMENDADO!!!

From: AntiAOR Date: February 8, 2005 at 10:03
This is an awful CD-I would rather have my left nut ripped off than have to listen to tthis elevator music.

From: Rockhead Date: March 14, 2005 at 7:29
This does NOT ROCK-It is fluffier than a cotton wool bag of marshmallows-Freaky you should be locked up for mis-representation. This is lite West coast sounding, keyboard dominated AOR. The guitar is so far back in the mix it is invisible. If you like the lighter end of AOR you will enjoy it bit to state this rocks is nothing short of blasphemy.

From: Kim HP Date: June 7, 2005 at 10:40
This is not as soft as a few of these comments suggest. Songs like "Surrender", "Can't Stop" and "On the Radio" are classy pure AOR at it's best. Agreed, that the album has a "lighter" feel overall, but if you like some great 80's melodies backed by good production and musicianship, you should not avoid it. Come to think of it, fans of Starship will probably enjoy. Defenitely recommended.

From: melodic maniac Date: November 20, 2005 at 9:37
Only I can't hold back,Surrender and Headlines are great songs. The rest is too boring. Check out Beau Coup "Born & raised on Rock n' Roll" if you want to hear AOR of a similar style but much better songs.

From: FTCharlie Date: February 8, 2006 at 0:14
Some real smooth AOR-CD. When I got it, I heard it 2-3 times and then I didnt think about that CD for the next two years. Some time I got it back in my hands and listened again. Now I was really surprised about those great songs on it. It needs its time, but then it's a real All Time Fave to listen.

From: ROBERT Date: February 9, 2006 at 13:15
Vaya tayazo: Surrender!!

From: SCANDI Date: March 15, 2006 at 16:50
Definitely a good CD if you like BEAU COUP or BEAU GESTE. There are even lighter things at this page. So I find it's MORE than OK to have them here (we should be open minded). Of course, it's "New Wave AOR" -but a solid one of that kind! And I definitively hear lots of signs of AOR in this one (sounds as far far lighter DEF LEP or LOVERBOY sometimes). I just don't like the voice as much. A bit too rough. Not fitting in. 7,99/10

From: TONI MALLORCA Date: May 22, 2006 at 14:05
LO HE ESCUCHADO UNAS CUANTAS VECES Y NO HAY MANERA,NO ME ENTRA,DEFINITIVAMENTE ESTE ES UN DISCO DEL MONTON.OJO, NO DIGO QUE SEA MALO, PERO SI MUY VULGAR.PARA COMPLETISTAS DEL AOR 80´S.

From: Melodiker Date: July 31, 2006 at 10:08
Well,i own it a few times ago.Nice "light" AOR. Sometimes too "light" for me.7,5\10 :wink

From: PODEROSO YIRO Date: December 1, 2007 at 19:19

From: juan carlos Date: December 3, 2007 at 19:13

From: DanDare Date: October 16, 2010 at 18:25
Good stuff. Troy Reid has a good voice and the musicianship and production is first class. It's at the lighter end of AOR, edging towards West Coast. Good driving music and the hooks will have you singing along nicely.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: November 5, 2010 at 14:15
Really a very nice release!!!! ...lovely compositions and vocals...agree with some comments above about the softness of the songs but honestly this could be labeled as the pure essence of AOR,soft yet solid,if you are an AORster from the heart, you'll dig this effort just fine..."Hearbeat" is a killer track,"I Can't Hold Back" is a nice ballad,"This Could Be The Night" catchy,"On The Radio" reminded me of Huey Lewis & The News ,"Can't Stop" & "Surrender" are also excellent ones,"Headlines" is a catchy top notch song & to finish we have the wonderful ballad "Just Between The Two Of Us"(this one is a Bonus Track and what a Bonus!!!)...get it!!!.93/100

From: shoemaker Date: February 24, 2011 at 8:41
The original album "st" (LP) is from 1986. Some good tunes here.

From: 707STAR Date: November 30, 2011 at 14:05
IF YOU LIKE BUYING A CD W/3 REALLY GOOD SONGS. THIS IS IT. LITE MELODIC AOR ROCK. TOO BAD THEY HAD POTENTIAL. SINGER SOUNDS LIKE PETER CETERA AND JIMI JAMISON. THEY DO NOT SOUND LIKE TOTO AT ALL. GOOD BATHTUB MUSIC.

From: 123charpenay Date: November 8, 2016 at 14:28
great a o r from this canadian band.they sound eighties pop, westcoast, a o r,they remind me the excellent i ten.this cd is not for pure hard rock lovers but for lovers of smart and fine music.

From: Dx7 Date: October 29, 2021 at 13:28
One of the best Canadian AOR records of the mid-80s. The original LP edition is superior to the reissue in c
