An interesting album from the ex-Nightwing, GTR etc vocalist. He has a great, powerful, voice that I first discovered in Bronz. It is just a shame he doesn't give credit to the source of half the tracks on the CD - and who wrote them! For more details on one of the people invilved in playing and writing half the material check out this site: http://youngjohn.co.uk/

Album loses points for Bacon's resemblance to Michael Bolton on the cover. Not worth the $20+ on eBay. Bronz and GTR preferred.

Max has certainly changed a lot over the years (and not just in hairstyle either). I have an old copy of an episode of New Faces, from 1988. Hosted by the late, great, Miss Marti Caine. Max appears as the last of the 6 acts on the show, performing his own composition, The Hunter. The song itself is not exactly brilliant, but is performed extremely well by Max. Chris Tarrent, one of the 3 judges on the show, stated that Max was the best act of the night as far as he was concerned. Not bad!

I remember Max Bacon from his work with The classic GTR,Bronz And Nightwing. This release is alot more AOR than his previous involvements.the first two songs also appear on Asia's 'Best Of..' c.d.(which actually doesn't contain any of their best material just the best of their unreleased trax.)Max's efforts on these songs a far superior vocally than the original versions and generally his performance is still world class on this album. Not a classic c.d. but a worthy effort

man!im really dissapointed with this one excluding the first two tracks, the rest is really crap!!!!.its a shame that a great vocalist like max hasnt got great songs to sing.

The title track for starters 'The Higher You Climb' has Geoff Downes all over it, sounding very much like an Asia track. Continuing with 'Boys From Diamond City', this rocks all along at a good clip. The other highlight is the superb 'Hungry Warrior', a moody atmospheric piece harking back to GTR's debut. 'No One Else To Blame' ain't too bad either, AOR by numbers admittedly, but catchy nonetheless.

Don't listen to Bronz - Taken By Storm prior to this release or you and your dog will be playing Frisbee with the disc shortly there after. This release does not hold a candle to the Bronz masterpiece!

Otro disco que ya comenté anteriormente, cuantos mas serán!!?? Vaya! al menos Rycheage a escuchado mas veces este album que ningun otro(al parecer..). Muy cierto, "Hungry Warrior"(La mejor!) y "No One Else to Blame" mis favoritas junto a "The Higher You Climb", las suaves "All Grown Up" "Hold Him Closer" y "Boys From Diamond City". La voz de Max Bacon es muy buena y me recuerda a Dennis DeYoung. No es pues para nada un discazo pero nada con crap IMO. Por cierto, La 11 y 12 son en concierto. 8/10

Holy crap, forget the mullet and 'Michael Bolton' ripoff, this guy can hold his own. Since I'm hell on accents, too many scandi bands a dime a dozen; ya got a bad accent who cares how tight the band is - or how good the production is. Harem Scarem did soo well outside of Canada, Harry Hess doesn't have an accent. People giving these scandi guys albums high reviews, must have bad accents too, flame all ya want; it's true. But back to Max Bacon, he is 'the bacon', very very good; singers of this caliber are an exception. This guy is a cross between Alien (Jim Jidhed) & Bostons' Brad Delph. Check it out, almost essential.

Plesant album...Max Bacon has a very similar tone of voice that i linked directly to Dennis DeYoung of Styx fame..."The Higher You Climb"(nice),"Boys From Diamond City","When I Was Young","Love Comes Down"(nice smoothie),"Hungry Warrior","No One Else To Blame"( ) & "Roundabout"(YES cover)are my faves...86/100
