man this CD blows! I don't even know why it's on here. No melody, poor quality and bad music. boo boo boo!

Great album! One of the best from Houston rock scene together with King's X first four albums, Galactic Cowboys first 3 releases and Atomic Opera 'For Madmen Only'. A must for fans of these bands!

Music, like art, is down to personal taste a lot of the time. This album, in my opinion if you are an X fan or a cowboys fan is a must!! Like all the best albums Its not a one listen album you need to slowly, over a period of time, drip feed the passion of the music into your brain. The intrinsic quality of the album should never be in question and Ohlerkings non involvement in the Cowboys albums is testament to their apparent blandness.

This album KILLS. the harmonies are perfect...the distorted bass sound holds down brutal heavy grooves while the melody is all over the place. If you like heavier kings x or galactic cowboys (of which some of these guys are members)...try to get you hand on this cd!!

I really liked this one. From the fertile 'Wilde Silas' music works comes The Awful Truth. Very ethereal, moody metal similar to Galactic Cowboys and early King's X. My fav is 'It Takes so Long' and 'Higher'.

I want to find the rest of the demos that this record came from. Some of them were better than the album. Also this came out on vinyl, I would like to buy it if anyone is selling one. Hi Monty and Alan.

I have been looking for a copy of this CD (album)forever. It is awesome. I do believe it is out of print and can not find it in any of the local music stores in Houston. If anyone out there has a copy and would like to share. Please e-mail me @ abourrillion@yahoo.com. It would be greatly appreciated.

This a wonderful album. Too bad there was only 1 release. But I hear suspicious rumors of The Awful Truth II on the horizon.

I looked through every King's X album I could find. Yeah, fooled me. I thought 'wow, Doug's voice has some amazing range' :-D Anyone have the lyrics to Drowning Man? Cool song.

Mitt absoluta favvoalbum alla kategorier. Skulle jag bara få ta med mej en enda platta på en öde ö skulle det bli just denna. Ruggarns schyssta låtar rakt igenom. Stora tummen upp! Rock on!

Hello Dave von O! I don't have yer demos, but I do still have the 'nose' to the pig truck. Rock on! msansom@mchsi.com P.S. Did you know that Bill Brown is REALLY fat?

From: David Ohlerking |
Date: March 6, 2004 at 11:42 |
Bill Brown is the greatest guitar player that there is. His alledged girth is probably just a physical manifestation of this greatness.

And/or his ego, one could say. Yet there's no doubt The Man can still wail! But wouldn't you think, twenty-some-odd years later, that he might have changed his hairstyle?

spam, eggs, and spam...even if the record wasn't the definitive experience of the band that was 'the awful truth',it is a fine memory to be kept alive, and i am glad i have my copy listened to it again just yesterday, the songs that exist within the arrangements are still perfect,angst-filled,magical tributes to david's exceptional muse.

david is a good friend, and a great artist. his style of illustration is high in contrast, very bold, almost mystical. david's music is slow, fast, heavy, melodic, disturbing and beautiful. he has a style all of his own. one day, it may be imitated, yet never copied. jamie, western north carolina
