Pure AOR is the name of the game here and very impressive it all is too, from the songwriting, performances, down to the nice warm production aswell. Some top class songs on here, with'Pride' & '1000 Songs'( I adore the keys on this one) being my immediate picks, but generally I can't find any weak moments on here at all. There's a strong list of Swedish musos featured, including the excellent Tommy Denander, Ricky Delin (Prisoner), Kristoffer Lagerstrom (Spin Gallery, Union Mac) and Thomas Vikstrom (Talk Of The Town,Dark Illusion, Brazen Abbot etc). AOR doesn't get much better than this in this day and age, so go check it out pronto, as it's a belter. |

Yeah Rafo,Jez...very enjoyable album indeed ...for me it has the exact formula of what AOR music is all about...the tracks that caught my attention were "Truth Slips" which is a nice song with a good female duo performance(Helena Alsterhed),"Hold On" pleasant, catchy,a highlight for sure,"I'm Alive" is one of those songs that you can call it a radio friendly one, catchy too,it reminded me of the band Work Of Art ,"Give Me Back My Heart" is an excellent song,"Misery" is another highlight,"Now" is nice and guess what?,catchy! & the last song is definitively the peak of the iceberg,"1000 Songs" wonderful track!!!!.great musicians, great songs, what else could u ask 4???.90/100 |

Overall, I feel that this is a fairly average euro AOR album. It has all of the elements - harmony choruses, guitars, keys etc, but the melodies just didn't make me want to run at 60MPH and rescue someone...with one exception! - Hold On! which, incidentally, is the single most used song title in rock, (as well as the title of my latest novel - currently being penned!) The 'Hold On' on this album is (IMO) a contender for the top ten greatest AOR tracks of all time. It has it all: harmony, drama within the harmony, hooks galore, the fender, keys and it's so bloody 80s sounding, it's awesome. Just for that track alone, I'm giving the album a 90/100. Keep it up, boys. You've got a fan here! |

Well worth getting the Spinefarm release with 2 excellent bonus tracks. This is MEGA AOR!! The best album I have heard in years. Cannot find a weak track on it.Just hope they are not a one album wonder and continue recording such great music. |

I totally agree with the above statement. pure 80's feel, buy or die.......one of the best aor band 2010......too bad there are only few bands play this kind of music....viva 80's....80's never dies..... |

good debut by HOUSTON ,but nothin spectacular though.been used to hear this plastic sound the last few years that is so called AOR and i must say that is not my fav.i d say that there are only a few hooks and there isnt pure talent in songwriting.it has its moments of course like "pride" ,"hold on" &"1000 songs".i have to wait for their 2nd step to see if there is something here .not bad |

My rating is for the UK Spinefarm release. It includes 2 bonus tracks and they both are total killers! I'd go and say the track "Under Your Skin" is the best song on the whole album. Massive insta killah with spine tingling melodic quality. Recommended for upgrading if you only have the original pressing! |

very surprised by others comments.for me this record is for die hard a o r fans only.the best songs are track 7 "misery" (present on the deacon street II record) and track 12"chasing the dream".the rest is very melodic, well singing ,well produce but this album don t hooked me...cause there is too much keyboards who sound very variety.sometimes i think "it s not a rock record".imagine a poor " on the rise" with a wall of very simple keyboards.not for me.absoluty not a classic or a masterpiece.in this style there is one thousand bands better than houston. |
