A must have for any fan of Melodic rock or AOR.

From: MelodicBoy Date: August 27, 2001 at 11:48
Quality AOR, I agree. Cool tunes overall, but I find that 80s electronic drum sound somewhat distracting. That sound works for keyboard bands like Human League, but I could do with real drums here.

From: Kenta Sweden Date: December 28, 2001 at 2:45
Nice well played with god melodies, but it's not in the same good quality as Beu Hill's Airborne,(recomended)

Excellent DISC - too bad they didn't continue. Great hooks and melodies - Promise To Call - incredible song. Highly recommended.

Solid album and First One Over The Line is an AOR classic bar none.

From: TIM Date: July 29, 2002 at 12:06
Personally, I liked Keith Murrell better here than with the Mamma's Boys.

From: ROBERT Date: February 2, 2003 at 15:15

From: Jimbo Date: February 10, 2003 at 16:38
Having owned & listened to the cassette since it's original release, I was excited to find it was reissued by Metal Rendezvous on CD. I snatched up a copy but was disappointed. Originally, the masters were recorded slightly slower and then sped up in the booth, a technique that makes the songs tighter & brighter. (It's why many songs wind up in the keys of F & A#). But the reissued CD doesn't speed up the master. The songs are slow and not fun at all. It's too bad. Get the ATCO release instead.

From: BERNARDITO Date: April 20, 2003 at 2:53
ok jimbo, you dont appreciate this piece of aor art, just listen it, again and see!!! a very good pop and aor album!!

From: Randy Date: May 28, 2003 at 16:34
that is fucking great!!!!!!!! Go and get it boy..

From: Jimbo Date: May 29, 2003 at 0:58
Dear Bernardito--I did 'just listen it, again' and it is still slow and irritating. (Is this where I put the exclamation points, by the way?) As stated above, I loved the original pressing of this album, but the new CD reissue is not as good.

From: Manny Date: August 1, 2003 at 5:45

From: Vicrock Date: August 12, 2003 at 18:35

This is a great c.d. I don't know who dare to say that this is a bad album I don't know I guess people are used listening to the new aor crap that they forget how great c.ds from the 80's are.

From: rocketron Date: November 25, 2003 at 9:44
Saw these guys supporting Magnum in Birmingham and they blew Magnum off the stage - which takes some doing ! Brilliant British AOR with top class vocals and production by Beau Hill.

From: Deadly Pretty Date: January 17, 2004 at 10:40
Keith Murrell ROCKS!!!

From: Rycheage Date: March 9, 2004 at 0:26
There are some excellent moments here, including the album opener 'I Don't Care' with it's punchy keyboards, and 'Promise To Call' which moves in a direction like early 80s Whitesnake. 'First One Over The Line' has Foreigner tendencies, while the pomp attack comes to the fore on 'Caught In The Game'. We get a straight ahead rocker in 'Do You Want My Love Again' though the keyboard melodies through the chorus are quite nice. The last two 'Didn't Wanna Lose Ya' and 'All I'm Asking' are good.

BUEN ALBUM DE AOR, MIS FAVORITAS SIN DUDA Open Your Eyes, Brief Encounter Y Caught in the Game LOS 3 MEJORES CORTES DEL ALBUM, EL RESTO DE TEMAS TAMBIEN SON BUENOS AUNQUE TODAVIA TIENEN ESA INFLUENCIA DEL SONIDO DE LOS 70, PERO LAS 3 MENCIONADAS SON AOR 80 100%. ASI QUE AMIGOS ESTAN ANTE UN ALBUM BUENO NO ESPEREN EL SONIDO CLASICO DEL AOR DE LA MAYORIA DE BANDAS DE LOS 80 PERO ESTA BIEN.

Another great Brit AOR cd to go along with the many that were put out in the golden age of AOR. Keith Murrell in particular shines on this disc -a really good vocal performance. I really like most of the tracks on this one, with only the last 2 being what i would call filler. Choice cuts for me are 'Promise To Call, 'First One Over The Line' and 'Brief Encounter' with Murrells terrific vocal.

From: Geoff Date: March 21, 2005 at 5:26
This didn't blow my mind, but I must admit that I have to whip it out again. This was a pretty good slab of AOR if I recall correctly. I have the re-issue, but even that had pretty poor sound. It reminds me of a less polished Virginia Wolf and an almost 70's sounding vibe. The first track is a great one though. Pretty good and I suspect a good one for AOR fans.

From: Dave Stamos Date: May 2, 2005 at 6:14

From: voorhees Date: August 8, 2005 at 13:19
When I first heard this I didnt know Jason Bonham was a part of it. After I found out it was him I couldnt figure out why he was considered such a great drummer. Simplistic (but effective) drumming aside, this is a really good album. Great singer, never new he was in the Mamma's Boy's. Makes me want to try and get ahold of some Virginia Wolf. I've heard samples but never a whole song.

From: PAUL Date: December 26, 2005 at 15:25
Another good re-release form wounded bird records with Jason Bonhan on drums. Not as good as VIRGINIA WOLF but still it's a very enjoyable CD. Merry Christmas!

From: DANTE Date: June 2, 2006 at 7:10
CREO QUE LOS COMENTARIOS A ESTE DISCO NO HACEN HONOR A LA VERDAD. ES UNA JOYA DEL AOR DE LOS 80. KEITH MURELL EST IMPRESIONANTE: ESCUCHAD LA ENTRADA DE BRIEF ENCOUNTER. SENTIMIENTO PURO CON ESOS TECLADOS FAIRLIGHT. ES PURA Y SIMPLEMENTE LA BUENA MSICA DE ESOS MARAVILLOSOS 80 QUE NO VOLVERN. EL GRUPO EST IMPRESIONANTE. JASON BONHAM, CON 18 AITOS, UN MAESTRO DE LA BATERA. MUY BUENOS COROS Y ESTRIBILLOS. 10/10.

From: SangreAzulForever Date: September 2, 2006 at 9:37
Ok, the musicianship is not virtuous at all (except Jason Bonham), but all the tracks are performed with a touch of magic, just listen to 'Brief Encounter's intro to appreciate it. The keys are fantastic, but the guitars are quite straighforward as well as the solos; but to sum up I think this is a must have for all the melodic rock fans. 9/10.

From: grahamwl Date: September 29, 2006 at 16:45
Superb slice of AOR that came out of nowhere - and from an ENGLISH band! I was lucky enough to catch this lot live at the time. Keith Murrell's vocals are the standout along with strong hook-laden songs. He was a backing singer for Cliff Richard by the way! For me, standout tracks are 'Promise to Call' & 'Do you want my love again?'. I played this to death in '84 and it always takes me back to that year when I play it now. An AOR must-have. Simple as that.

From: poproxx2007 Date: November 16, 2006 at 19:19
Agree with above comments. This is an AOR must have. Bonham has now been involved with three excellent AOR projects: This, Virginia Wolf and he's currently behind the skins for Foreigner. Bonham is nothing compared to this jewel of AOR brilliance!! Every song is great if you love 80's AOR. Beau Hill does a great job behind the nobs. 10/10

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 27, 2007 at 22:02
'I don't care' if people don't like this album. The fact is that this is timeless piece of aor!!!!.At most have!!!!.

From: Melo Date: April 10, 2007 at 7:10
Song wie i don`t care, promise to call,First one over the line und brief encounter sprechen klar dafr !

From: DANTE Date: April 21, 2007 at 13:36
PUES SIGO CONSIDERANDO UNA JOYA POR DESCUBRIR ESTE DISCO. TIENE UN SONIDO A LOS AOS 80 QUE ME ENCANTA. ADEMS, KEITH MURELL ES UN CANTANTE EXCEPCIONAL. QUIZ NO TENGA ESA MAGIA DE CHRIS OUSEY, PERO ME PARECE UN ALBUM PARA EXPLORAR Y SACAR ESENCIAS MGICAS EN ESTO DEL AOR QUE TANTO NOS GUSTA.

From: rick kerch vzla Date: May 1, 2007 at 11:42

From: swriter Date: June 23, 2007 at 18:39
I recently got a copy of this and did not know I knew it, I have a cassette I have been listening to for twenty years at least once a month and I was never really sure who it was, when I put my new cd on, this was the cassette I had a copy of and never knew who it was and it has been a fav since the 80's but I never knew who it was, the mystery is solved and I didnt even know I wasgonna hear that cassette when I put the cd in, amazing amazing amazing catchy cd here!!!

From: juan carlos Date: July 10, 2007 at 16:45
'Open Your Eyes' uff temazo y me recontra favorita. 'Didn't Wanna Lose Ya' 'All I'm Asking' y 'I Don't Care' de lo mejor. 8.8/10

From: hernanHRM/AOR Date: September 25, 2007 at 21:43
First One Over the Line' tremendas Joyas...

Great set of tunes here. All AOR fans should dig this release.

From: maxtail Date: October 21, 2008 at 8:51
Is the Wounded Bird release the only official CD version of this AOR classic? Thanks.

From: hair metal again Date: June 17, 2009 at 13:00
excellent hard rock release from the 80 s.very melodic tunes, terrific vocals and plenty of heart in it.this is much better than the'aor' crap of today.listen to 'i don't care' and 'do you want my love again' and you probably understand why i say the above.anyway tomorrow i mgonna see them live for my first time supporting hair metal giants tesla so im very excited.overall this is one and only hit by air race is atotal must have for every hard rock fan.

From: swiss_Dan Date: November 17, 2009 at 16:42
100/100. A classic! Great songwriting. Best Album Brit AOR ever! Great production from Beau Hill (for that time in 1984...). Very good vocals from Keith Murrell(Sings as well like a god on the Phenomena III album).

From: Flall Date: April 8, 2010 at 19:35
Typical 80s AOR, but I have to say this band sounds much better live. 'Didn't Wanna Lose You' could easily make EVERY 80s AOR compilation. A must, if you are an 80s AOR fan.

From: happy2849 Date: December 9, 2010 at 12:12
Picked up the Wounded Bird re-issue recently and was pleasently surprised. I was familure with some of the members but had not heared it before. While not the best melodic rock cd I have it does get it share of play!

From: halfordhughes Date: August 6, 2011 at 8:52
very good aor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From: Monsieur Renard Date: June 21, 2016 at 6:50
I like the songs, the guitarsound, keyboardsound and vocal performance. The drums are irritating here and there. They sound too electronic for a rockband.
