A must have for any fan of Melodic rock or AOR.

Quality AOR, I agree. Cool tunes overall, but I find that 80s electronic drum sound somewhat distracting. That sound works for keyboard bands like Human League, but I could do with real drums here.

Having owned & listened to the cassette since it's original release, I was excited to find it was reissued by Metal Rendezvous on CD. I snatched up a copy but was disappointed. Originally, the masters were recorded slightly slower and then sped up in the booth, a technique that makes the songs tighter & brighter. (It's why many songs wind up in the keys of F & A#). But the reissued CD doesn't speed up the master. The songs are slow and not fun at all. It's too bad. Get the ATCO release instead.

Dear Bernardito--I did 'just listen it, again' and it is still slow and irritating. (Is this where I put the exclamation points, by the way?) As stated above, I loved the original pressing of this album, but the new CD reissue is not as good.

This is a great c.d. I don't know who dare to say that this is a bad album I don't know I guess people are used listening to the new aor crap that they forget how great c.ds from the 80's are. 9 champions... deja ya de escuchar las porquerias que salen ultimamente y escucha mas aor de los 80 y sabras lo que es buena musica de verdad.

From: Rycheage |

There are some excellent moments here, including the album opener 'I Don't Care' with it's punchy keyboards, and 'Promise To Call' which moves in a direction like early 80s Whitesnake. 'First One Over The Line' has Foreigner tendencies, while the pomp attack comes to the fore on 'Caught In The Game'. We get a straight ahead rocker in 'Do You Want My Love Again' though the keyboard melodies through the chorus are quite nice. The last two 'Didn't Wanna Lose Ya' and 'All I'm Asking' are good.

BUEN ALBUM DE AOR, MIS FAVORITAS SIN DUDA Open Your Eyes, Brief Encounter Y Caught in the Game LOS 3 MEJORES CORTES DEL ALBUM, EL RESTO DE TEMAS TAMBIEN SON BUENOS AUNQUE TODAVIA TIENEN ESA INFLUENCIA DEL SONIDO DE LOS 70, PERO LAS 3 MENCIONADAS SON AOR 80 100%. ASI QUE AMIGOS ESTAN ANTE UN ALBUM BUENO NO ESPEREN EL SONIDO CLASICO DEL AOR DE LA MAYORIA DE BANDAS DE LOS 80 PERO ESTA BIEN.

Another great Brit AOR cd to go along with the many that were put out in the golden age of AOR. Keith Murrell in particular shines on this disc -a really good vocal performance. I really like most of the tracks on this one, with only the last 2 being what i would call filler. Choice cuts for me are 'Promise To Call, 'First One Over The Line' and 'Brief Encounter' with Murrells terrific vocal.

This didn't blow my mind, but I must admit that I have to whip it out again. This was a pretty good slab of AOR if I recall correctly. I have the re-issue, but even that had pretty poor sound. It reminds me of a less polished Virginia Wolf and an almost 70's sounding vibe. The first track is a great one though. Pretty good and I suspect a good one for AOR fans.

When I first heard this I didnt know Jason Bonham was a part of it. After I found out it was him I couldnt figure out why he was considered such a great drummer. Simplistic (but effective) drumming aside, this is a really good album. Great singer, never new he was in the Mamma's Boy's. Makes me want to try and get ahold of some Virginia Wolf. I've heard samples but never a whole song.

CREO QUE LOS COMENTARIOS A ESTE DISCO NO HACEN HONOR A LA VERDAD. ES UNA JOYA DEL AOR DE LOS 80. KEITH MURELL ESTÁ IMPRESIONANTE: ESCUCHAD LA ENTRADA DE BRIEF ENCOUNTER. SENTIMIENTO PURO CON ESOS TECLADOS FAIRLIGHT. ES PURA Y SIMPLEMENTE LA BUENA MÚSICA DE ESOS MARAVILLOSOS 80 QUE NO VOLVERÁN. EL GRUPO ESTÁ IMPRESIONANTE. JASON BONHAM, CON 18 AÑITOS, UN MAESTRO DE LA BATERÍA. MUY BUENOS COROS Y ESTRIBILLOS. 10/10.

Ok, the musicianship is not virtuous at all (except Jason Bonham), but all the tracks are performed with a touch of magic, just listen to 'Brief Encounter'´s intro to appreciate it. The keys are fantastic, but the guitars are quite straighforward as well as the solos; but to sum up I think this is a must have for all the melodic rock fans. 9/10.

Superb slice of AOR that came out of nowhere - and from an ENGLISH band! I was lucky enough to catch this lot live at the time. Keith Murrell's vocals are the standout along with strong hook-laden songs. He was a backing singer for Cliff Richard by the way! For me, standout tracks are 'Promise to Call' & 'Do you want my love again?'. I played this to death in '84 and it always takes me back to that year when I play it now. An AOR must-have. Simple as that.

Agree with above comments. This is an AOR must have. Bonham has now been involved with three excellent AOR projects: This, Virginia Wolf and he's currently behind the skins for Foreigner. Bonham is nothing compared to this jewel of AOR brilliance!! Every song is great if you love 80's AOR. Beau Hill does a great job behind the nobs. 10/10

PUES SIGO CONSIDERANDO UNA JOYA POR DESCUBRIR ESTE DISCO. TIENE UN SONIDO A LOS AÑOS 80 QUE ME ENCANTA. ADEMÁS, KEITH MURELL ES UN CANTANTE EXCEPCIONAL. QUIZÁ NO TENGA ESA MAGIA DE CHRIS OUSEY, PERO ME PARECE UN ALBUM PARA EXPLORAR Y SACAR ESENCIAS MÁGICAS EN ESTO DEL AOR QUE TANTO NOS GUSTA.
