Great album only the one before, THUNDERSTEEL is better. It have some great songs on it but the best one is STORMING THE GATES OF HELL. Its just an increible song. HAIL TO RIOT.

Funny album! A mixture between soft-to-the-touch hardrock & No-speed-limit Thrash...Well, speed at least! Never got the hang of all those radio clips in between the songs..."Black Leather...", "Maryanne" & the fabulous "christian" song: "Storming The Gates Of Hell" are the absolute highlights...Very good musicianship too!

From: Scandinavia Date: August 29, 2003 at 8:02
Forgot "Runaway"...Great track too! A poor attempt to sound commercial though...

From: Rene Date: August 29, 2003 at 9:00
Yes, i love the song STORMING THE GATES OF HELL, on of the best RIOT songs ever i think.

From: CC Date: January 7, 2004 at 11:14

Oh man this record rocks!! Riot showed they could hang with whoever was out there in 1990 by delivering this stick of dynamite!! "Dance of Death" and "Storming the Gates..." rock right along w/ classic Accept or Maiden and they still slowed it down and displayed great melodic prowess on "Runaway" and "Maryanne." Really good solid metal album from a very underrated band.

From: Big Papa K Date: June 14, 2004 at 17:53
Riot tone it down a little on this album and come up with another winner. "Maryanne" might be the catchiest song they have done. 8/10

From: Mike Murray Date: August 26, 2004 at 4:18
Guys, lets not for get the Al Dimiola cover ( Racing with the devil on a spanish highway). Wholly fuck. All I can say is the drummer on this CD fucking SMOKES!!! His feet are sooooo flippn fast

From: Rockhead Date: August 26, 2004 at 4:32
Hey Mike the "Zombie" is indeed an excellent drummer!! Guess that's why Halford nicked him for his band.

From: Greg Date: September 13, 2004 at 15:13
These guys remind me alot of Helloween for some reason, it sounds alot like "Keeper of the 7 Keys, Part 1"

From: Greg Date: September 13, 2004 at 15:14
I just got this used for $3.00!

From: CC Date: September 28, 2004 at 15:22
Hah,finally got it on CD......a reissue, but who cares........and boy does this one bring back memories. Havent actually listened to my cassette copy in years as I just dont play cassettes anymore so I am so glad to finally hear Maryanne & Killer again (my two personal fave songs on here). Mix of styles as has already been mentioned, but thats a good thing as it makes for a more interesting listening experience.

This is not melodic rock, as listed above. There are some very heavy tunes on here rivaling Judas Priest - Painkiller. Yet, for the all metal being pounded out, there is quite a twist present on this disc. From the news reporting interludes to the almost Frank Zappa-esque tune "Killer" complete with horns, a vocal duet with Joe Lynn Turner, & fusion time changes, this is not your run-of-the-mill metal album.

From: z4roxx Date: December 14, 2006 at 15:17
I did remember a Riot interview where they sayed:”The privilege…”it’s our worst album…Oh my God!!!!One of the greatest power metal cd ever heard,a monument in the genre IMO with”Welcome to the ball”(Vicious Rumors)and”Human Factor”/”Blessing in disguise”(Metal Church). This are the magic American trio bands of all times.P.S.Why Dream Evil aren t in the site??Please add them asap!

From: shoemaker Date: November 14, 2007 at 15:48
SCANDINAVIA named the good ones. Here is a lot of stuff I don´t like. Speedmetal with very high, but powerless vocals, or some strange horn sections. Maryanne and Runaway are hits!!! Sorry, but Tony Moore is the weakest singer for Riot. The THUNDERSTEEL album would be brilliant with a deeper, crunshier voice.

From: aTomiK Date: November 15, 2007 at 1:59
Tony Moore is one of the GODS & this is a great cd! Why is there no Faith and Fire cd on this site? Have to add it myself... Now that´s one hell of a rocker too and Tony is still kickin´!

From: zzardozz666 Date: January 10, 2008 at 12:54
MEGA CD ,OVER THE TOP WITH INTRO,S AND SAMPLES.BUT EVERY SONG IS CLASS ,A MASTERPIECE OF THE RIOT ERA, TONY MOORE SHINES ON THIS ALBUM. HE WAS A GREAT FIND.AND THE DRUMMING IS FUC#### OUT STANDING.HE WENT ON TO JOIN ROB HALFORD.

From: underworld king Date: April 4, 2010 at 20:44
New album from this line up in 2010 and I can't wait. This album rocked in 1990 and I'm sure the new album will too!

From: halfordhughes Date: June 2, 2011 at 12:56
not as good as Thundersteel...

From: rick kerch vzla Date: May 27, 2012 at 17:40
After the amazingly outstading "Thundersteel" album, comes this one by the powerful Riot...a great one indeed but with a curious point...the horn section in some songs!!! ("On Your Knees" & "Killer")which was awesome IMO...then other goodies are "Metal Soldiers","Dance Of Death","Storming The Gates Of Hell" & "Black Leather And Glittering Steel"...enjoyable stuff by this band that somehow still fights for some really and meaningful recognition...90/100

From: hair metal again Date: February 7, 2014 at 6:11
fine release once again by RIOT ,more in the heavy metal section !Tony Moore s voice suit them perfectly and the result is great with some great heavy riffs and some more commercial moments!my fav are "runaway" and "maryanne"!if you liked Thundersteel ,you like this one also
