I'm surprised to find this album listed as Melodic Metal. It's more along the lines of Dokken and Lynch Mob. Back when I first got it I was also surprised by the great vocals. A mix of ballad types and all out rock make this a fun album to listen to. I've even busted my wife singing along, and some of you can imagine how that goes. Check out Riviera/Long Way Down. It's one of the best songs ever, and that's not intended to slight the rest of the album. I wouldn't want to be without it.

From: Eugenio Chahin Date: June 20, 2001 at 14:59
Great melodic hard rock. Marc Ferrari sounds gret in it, the vocalist shines on too! Some unforgetable songs. Gotta have it.

From: Nelson Date: July 22, 2001 at 3:25
My collection would not be complete without this all out hard rockin' classic. After leaving Keel, Marc Ferrari really outdid himself here. I find his guitar playing excels that of his previous band. Rory Cathey just soars along with his "Dokkenesque"- like vocals. Tracks like "four on the floor", "take this heart of mine", "let's make love tonight", and my favorite kick ass tune "jump the gun", are prime examples of good solid song writing at their best.

From: Michele Date: December 10, 2001 at 9:00
This is an absolute all time favorite of mine! During the pre-release I was fortunate to get to know Erik Gamans! Miss him..... if anyone has any info contact me! MidnyteMoonchyld@aol.com

From: Federico Date: January 30, 2002 at 11:16
Great class metal cd. The style reminds Dokken(Back for the attack) and Lynch mob. The singer is halfway between Oni Logan and Don Dokken. Great singers like Cathey and Rob Mason should lead the scene, instead It's hard to have their notices. I'm surprised about the low rate, for me It's 9,5. Thanks to tis site and to the other rewiwers like Koogles tahth make me discover this gem.

From: Motley Date: March 13, 2002 at 8:10
I only now LEts make love tonight and 2 other songs. But Lets....is a titla killer, I was stunned when I saw the video some month ago. Man Ive got to own this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The song and the voice, the music, the rnr killer........

1 of the best cds of all time. this one is kik ass. buy it now!

From: motley Date: June 18, 2002 at 13:21
I am now the proud owner of BREAKOUT and what a fuckin killer it is!!!!! feels liek my cd collection just rose a bit prouder LOL. Did you know that COLD SWEAT appears in WAYNES WORLD singing with Carrere under the name of CRUCIAL TAUNT???

From: Drag-in-Bones Date: September 22, 2002 at 1:14
I want to bring you (all my lovely children who reviewed on this page, "Cold Sweat") all a little closer, cause all your reviwes bleed together like Jack Danials and Coke(A perfect mix!!!)It all started when guitarist-songwriter Mark Ferrari bailed on the band "Keel" his goal was to assemble a functioning democracy of a band dedicated to well-crafted songs and arrangements, solid musicianship. He was gonna call the band "Ferrari" and with his ideals in place he set out to do just that.

From: Drag-in-Bones Date: September 22, 2002 at 1:34
Shoulden't be any problem, right? In a world were Murphy is the cheif lawmaker, things don't always go according to plan. For starters, a certain automobile manufacturer rejected Mark of his band name ("Ferrari") and then a semiactive Jazz group took claim to name #2,("Crying Shame"), wat a crying shame!!! Well apparently soul bro numero-uno diden't complain about "Cold Sweat", so we're off to the races and it's all peaches and cream, right Babes? Not!!! As Federico said in his review......

From: Drag-in-Bones Date: September 22, 2002 at 1:47
...(The singer is halfway between Oni Logan and Don Dokken.) Could it be that Oni Logan "WAS" the lead singer for "Cold Sweat" only to leave for George Lynche's band the day they were to record for MCA. Something to ponder on. Actully that's all fact so don't ponder. So know inter 22 year-old Rory Cathy and guess what? You have one fucking awsome band,(All reviews correct!!!) So regardlless of catching the wife sing or not we all know this is one bad assed band!!! 9 out of 10!!!

From: Federico Date: October 2, 2002 at 13:17
I really enjoy the rewiews of Drag-in-bones, very funny. However Roy Cathey is back with a ne w project "The fifth" www.the-fifth.com. They are too much modern for my taste.

From: datshadychick Date: November 12, 2002 at 3:08

From: ShanerV Date: November 14, 2002 at 20:35
Yeah this band is completely awesome. A friend of mine was best friends with Cathey, the lead vocalist in high school. I met my friend and he turned me on to Cathey's first band, Gibraltar. They a tape and IT was awesome, fueled mostly by the vocals. There was a great ballad on that one called "Real". I lost my Gib Tape years ago. Wish I could find a MP3 to download on that one, Or at least a tape. ANyway, a few years later, my friend called me again and told me about Cold Sweat. The remake of "

I Just Want to Make Love... is the best I have ever heard.

From: David Date: November 14, 2002 at 21:26
Does this vocalist sound anything like Robert Mason?

From: T-BONE Date: November 15, 2002 at 10:36
Actually, he does have the Robert Mason vibe to him along with some Bach, Dokken, and Tommy Heart of Fair Warning. It's a pretty good cd by all means.

From: BILLY DVETTE Date: December 16, 2002 at 4:09
Eric Gamans is a shred master on this CD !!

From: jarett r. Date: January 4, 2003 at 6:34
chris mclernon was later in saigon kick. chris mclernon was also in a band called sweating bullets.

From: jarett r. Date: January 4, 2003 at 6:42
wait, come to think of it cold sweat and sweating bullets were the same band. cold sweat changed their name to sweating bullets. oni logan was once cold sweats singer. if i remember right he also sang in lynch mob. anthony white was in xcursion with mark slaughter (slaughter, vinnie vincent invasion, xcursion, and roz parade.)

From: DBLUED Date: January 7, 2003 at 18:07
i am from north carolina and i saw these guys at a place called the "flaming mug"...this band simply rocks!!!...there were awsome in concert as well...rory did play in a band called gibraltar...ther we awsome as well...they played at a joint in sanford once called studebakers...speaking of old bands..did anyone know that firehouse used to be "whitheat"?

From: pup Date: April 21, 2003 at 12:58
For all U fans of Cold Sweat you need to check out www.cold-sweat.net this has all the dope on the band. I had the pleasure of working w/ these guys and not only do they rock, you could'nt meet a better bunch of people. The comments here are typical of what they got all over the world. It seems though that the record company had a different opinion, short sighted on their part (dont ya think). If you want some more good rock go to the-fifth.com Roy's new band, the album is for sale there. Pup

"Let's make love tonight" is outstanding!!! Awesome! I mean, I'd go for anything that has Marc Ferrari in it! But I just can't seem to get the hang of the rest of this album. "Four on the floor", "Jump the gun" and "Cryin' shame" are good too but there's something missing here...Can't quite figure out what it is...If the whole album sounded like "Let's make love tonight" it would have been 10/10 but I can't stretch it any further than a 9/10. That's good enough though!

From: Jayglam@hotmail Date: October 14, 2003 at 9:09
I bought this on cd when it first come out in 1990 and still play this today. I bought it as it had Marc ferrari in it, I love Keel. Never expected this band to be as good as this. The thing I hate about popular bands these days is no one can F*@king sing. Check out Rory Catheys pipes, fantastic. Great songwriting and musicianship, I highly recommend this release if you are into clean vocals and a big production. Standout tracks would be Cryin shame,Waiting in vain (monster ballad), Take this he

this cd really shines on me,cool.i agree with the oni logan-kevin mason, and cathey compare.by the way the sixth song starts like whitesnake's "hit n' run".isn't it?=)

From: Alison in NC Date: June 17, 2004 at 20:24
2004 I can not stop listening to them! I have 2 CD’s one for back up! I saw and met them in 1990, in Germany at Monsters of Rock. My sister and I spent the day with them and they are beyond nice. I worked for the music industry and these guys are the best out there. I was shocked they were not resigned. I would have signed them if I had a label! I will do anything for these guys they are awesome! Marc really knew what he was doing with this project. Rory (or Roy) really fit the bill perfectly; I

From: Alison in NC Date: June 17, 2004 at 20:25
(con't) Rory (or Roy) really fit the bill perfectly; I am glad Oni left. Erik is beyond amazing on guitar! Chris was born to play bass; I LOVE the rhythm of this album! Anthony knows the drums! I have seen the video for "Let's Make Love Tonight" and watch it every day! (Gulp) I have each scene down! When Marc and Erik are playing a solo together my heart skips a beat! Then when Chris and Erik run into to each other for a hit at the end of the solo, WOW. They all have such awesome stage presence.

From: ROCKER76 Date: February 23, 2005 at 14:22
Not a weak song to be found, even though I could have personally done without the cover tune (Track #11). One of my pet peeves was always hard rock bands that did cover songs. I couldn't help but think that the band had run out of ideas. But anyway....this Cold Sweat album is sure to please if you like your metal with lots of hair and the mandated hair ballad ("Waiting In Vain"). "Four On The Floor" kicks things off nicely and keeps on rockin'. Definitely recommended for hair metal fans.

From: Geoff Date: March 8, 2005 at 4:58
One of m top 5 vocalists of all time! What a voice! Simply stunning especially in the verses of the killer versed but poor chorused 'Lets make love tonight'. Anyway, excellent musicianship, vocals and overall sound. 'Take this heart of mine' is as good as melodic hard rock ever gets and an all-time favourite track, 'Cryin' shame' is a great bluesy rocker, 'Waiting in vain' a very nice ballad, and overall a good hard rock disc. Unfortunately their demos are much better, but this is still good.

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: May 15, 2005 at 16:42

From: Rafo Phoenix Date: May 15, 2005 at 16:45
Y me olvido donde esta Lets make love tonight el segundo buen corte, where is Lets make love tonight???.

From: 7Sinner Date: August 9, 2006 at 15:50
Pulled this one out for a listen for the first time in at least a dozen years. Damned if it isn't a lot better than I remember. Some fine straight-forward hard rock, well worth tracking down for your collection.

From: Jimmy D Date: September 26, 2006 at 21:45
If this would have come out 2 years earlier, and If they would have put out more than 1 album, Cold Sweat(named after the kickass Thin Lizzy song)would have been as big as Skid Row or Warrant or any of 'em...if not bigger. This album still holds up against anything from that era. I just listened to it tonight on the ride home from work...and I thought to myself..."Man...these guys should have been a lot bigger!" Catchy songs, great guitars (way better than Keel), awesome vocals from Rory Cathey

From: Jimmy D Date: September 26, 2006 at 21:53
They were the first band that I ever saw live. They opened for Dio at "The Riv" in Chicago back in September of 1990. "Let's Make Love Tonight", "Waiting In Vain", "Cryin' Shame", "Take This Heart Of Mine", "I Just Want to Make Love To You"...all of 'em...old favorites.

From: Helix Date: November 2, 2006 at 11:05
seen great reviews about this cd and said to myself I have to listen to this cd. So now I have and don't see why such great reveiws to me this cd was just an average cd like many others in the early 90's which I called most of those bands one cd wonders. And I say thet cause most of these band had till 1993 to make second cd's, before the grunge came around. For most of these bands they just did not have what it takes to put out second cd.s I gave it 7.5.

From: www.vpxglobal.com Date: March 3, 2007 at 7:29
Helix, these are peoples opinions, just like you put in yours. most people like it..so maybe it is just not for you and that's fine. anyway..Personally, I like the album. Why do we try to disect Aor/Metal like a science experiment..just listen to the cd..you like or dislike, simple as that. It's your ears that tell the truth.I think we give 2 much credibility to ratings..but they are here for a reason, we just need to listen for ourselves in the end.Good Rock cd for summer night car crusin'

From: metalizzer Date: May 16, 2007 at 11:26
what i like about this album is that they even maneged to fuck up the classic "i just want to make love to you" composed by the great willie dixon and so well singed by the king and queen : muddy waters and etta james! donīt spend money one this ! dl the only (good) track: "take this heart of mine" very far from the quality of lynch mob or dokken.

From: fenixx Date: June 13, 2007 at 15:03
ye, this album shows how and why hard rock was going down and grunge on the rise! doesīnt bring nothing new into rock or even good! itīs just one more like a lot that was made by that time. itīs a bit similar to Heavens edge , but they played far, far better.

From: the rocker Date: June 19, 2007 at 18:51
had this on tape when it first came out.i got it because of ferrari being from keel, so i took a chance. back then i did'nt have a puter to sample stuff like nowadays. i took a chance on a lot of stuff back then. i was right on 98% of the time, just like this one .goodtime rock.

From: the rocker Date: July 19, 2007 at 10:31
this song list does not mention LET'S MAKE LOVE TONIGHT.

From: dan Date: July 28, 2007 at 21:50
Rafo the Phoenix, este disco no me parecio tan aburrido como decis, tampoco lo maximo como dicen la gente de habla inglesa, es un poco mejor de lo del monton de su epoca, para mi un 7.5 + . Es solo mi opinion.

From: hernanHRM/AOR Date: October 22, 2007 at 18:35
"Take This Heart Of Me & LetĄs Make Love Tonight" que joyitas con un stylo de HardRock/Aor vaya vaya que buenos cortes, las mejores del albun, el primero que escojo es un tema que va conmigo, un super stylo con toques y coros inpresionantes sin duda alguna es increible. y el segundo es un tema que no se queda atras tiene el mismo nivel, con el mismo misterio jaja dos joyitas que no puedes dejar de disfrutar..

From: rbrigade Date: September 10, 2008 at 21:51
Great album! The singer is indeed outstanding! They should have made it big! Cathey's new band The Fifth has some good songs but only if you are into modern rock. It's a little agressive for 80's purists. Break out is one of the albums I'm happy to discover and proud to recommend. And it's affordable too.

From: DEEMON Date: January 10, 2009 at 23:49

From: True Believer Date: April 5, 2009 at 11:51
"Let's make love tonight" is a great party rocker, "Rivera /Long Way Down" is a Dokken-style anthem, the ballad "Waiting In Vain" (a little bit similar to Damn Yankees songs) and "This Heart Of Mine" are also great. The major problem is that the rest of this LP is average although well played. 7,5/10

From: rick kerch vzla Date: February 7, 2011 at 20:38
For me this album smokes!!! ..Marc Ferrari,Keel's right hand man band...well plenty of good songs in here...some of them with a kind of AOR feel which for me is perfect! ..."Four On The Floor","Lovestruck","Riviera/Long Way Down", "Killing Floor" & "I Just Want To Make Love To You" are excellent songs indeed...talkin' about faves then i go for "Take This Heart Of Mine" & "Fistful Of Money"...a recommendable album IMHO...91/100

From: the rocker Date: November 29, 2011 at 19:28
If only there was a 2nd cd from these guys!I recommend! Lets Make Love Tonight, Take This Heart Of Mine, and Lovestruck are my favorites.

From: hair metal again Date: July 16, 2012 at 2:09

To the moderator of this site. This album list is missing a song. Song #8 "Let's Make Love Tonight' is the one missing, could you please fix this?

From: Erikk Date: December 26, 2021 at 15:40
Lovestruck is the stand out song for me. Vocals and guitarplaying blend perfectly together.
