Great second effort from a great band. This one features some great AOR classic tunes. "Flesh And Blood" is a work of art indeed.

From: Larry Date: April 22, 2003 at 23:32
Your are absolutely right, Beevus. Flesh and Blood is breathtaking. Why this band never got the recognition it strongly deserves is beyond logic.

From: Mike L Date: May 8, 2003 at 1:39
This was Shooting Star's biggest commercial success. "Hang on for your Life", "Breakout", and "Are you on my side" all were heavy plays on early eighties rock radio. Check out "Sweet Elatia" which is haunting but unfortunetly left off the CD version.

I attempted to produce a cd with my top 20 songs of the 80's on it,regardless of music style.I found it to be an almost impossible task, but the song Breakout always ended up on my list.

From: Richardo21 Date: October 27, 2003 at 23:51
This album is a classic to me, here is is 20 years later and I am trying to find it on the web, The song "Hang on for your life" is what made my friends sit up and take notice

I agree, 'Hang on..' and "Breakout" are standout tracks--let's not forget 'Hollywood' though! REally great album

"Flesh and Blood" was the song that turned me on to the band. "Sweet Elatia" and "Hollywood" are also great tunes. An overall great disc.

I've been wondering about these guys for the past 22 years. My brother had the cassette tape but never let me borrow it, and I could hear "Breakout" through the doors of his room over and over again. I've got to get a copy of this. Any help out there? Is there a website for these guys? What about Angel City? They had an album called Shadow Boxer I think. I've been thinking about how I could find this one for 22 years too. Bart Rose firststreetaudio@hotmail.com

very solid release and one of the trend starters of the early 80's, great songs such as Breakout, Flesh and Blood, and Hollywood. Good hard rock album that helped music progress to the next level

From: hair metal again Date: June 12, 2010 at 2:15
good 2nd step for SHOOTING STAR in a more guitar sound than their debut.many straight hard rock songs like "hang on for your life","she s got money" and more melodic ones like "teaser" and "hollywood".highlight also is the opener "flesh and blood".nice tunes

From: rick kerch vzla Date: April 12, 2015 at 14:23
Not as great as the band's debut this one is but it has some good moments as well..."Hang On For Your Life" & "She's Got Money" are my faves...tracks 3,6,9 & 10(nice)are also good ones but far from being called classics...75/100

From: 707STAR Date: December 8, 2018 at 22:07
PROBABLY THEIR BEST ALBUM. HANG ON FOR YOUR LIFE ROCKS MY SOCKS OFF. WHAT A FANTASTIC BAND. THEIR FIRST ALBUM WAS AWESOME AS WELL AS BURNING. III WISHES AND SILENT SCREAM WERE A LITTLE LESS HARD ROCKING BUT HAD GREAT MELODIES AS WELL AS SUPERB LYRICS. THESE GUYS WERE GREAT MUSICIANS.

From: fdr Date: August 21, 2020 at 6:45
Great, inspired and solid second offering, more or less on par with the first album. I find the best moments come when the band is pushing a little harder, like on the title track or "Teaser", while softer material works mainly thanks to Gary West's amazing vocals. What a great little band.

From: Doug Date: August 24, 2020 at 21:48
"fdr" totally agree, a great little band that did not get its due, IMO. Love this album!
