This was a very good album by a great band. It is a little more commercial than the previous effort, but it still excellent. Standout tracks are 1-3,7, 9 and 10. Great stuff.

A classic album, and my personal favorite album by Magnum. The production is wonderful and all the songs are great. It's impossible to pick out any highlights cause all songs are fantastic and this could almost work as a greatest hits album. 10/10!

The definitive Magnum CD. Their Magnum Opus. (Ouch!) If you're a newbie to Magnum, this is the one to start with. Pomp-laden hard rock with a distinctively British feel. Why these guys were ignored in North America is beyond me. CLASSIC

The guy Manos two above was wondering what 'Les Morts Dansant' is about its about a guy who's about to FACE THE FIRING SQUAD about to be shot by his own side, one hell of an album in anyones book this is one stand out classic if anyone is trying to get someone to listen to MAGNUM THIS IS THE ALBUM without a doubt their isn't a bad track on this and once bitten by the bug there is no turning back you will play this till cows are milking themselves and I ain't kidding,see them in concert wow

I THINK ITS A GOOD RECORDING. I CANT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE'S NO GUITAR SOLO IN THE ALBUMS TOP SONG (ENDLESS LOVE). BUT EVEN THEN, ITS A GREAT SONG, VERY CATCHY.

I am slightly biased, but OASTN just happens to be the best album of the genre - anywhere, anywhen. Les Morts Dansant is the ultimate anti-war anthem, and witnessing it live has to be one of the most moving musical experiences possible. Actually, Magnum live (even when they are playing some of their less inspired stuff) is an experience worth waiting for. Why is genuine talent and commitment so often overlooked in this world?? Anyway, Magnum's new album (Brand New Morning) is due in May! KYNLB!!

Mixing mythical imagery and commerical pomp somewhere between Grand Prix and Asia, this CD has a balanced mix of songs onboard, skirting around the shorter intense bursts to the more drawn out passages akin to the best labor intensive prog bands out there. Simply a 'must-have' album for any supporter of AOR and melodic rock.

OASTN is Magnum's foundational album. It is the standard by which all their other work will always be judged. It is not necesarily their BEST album by every measure, however the album as an entity is almost perfect - something very few bands ever achieve at any stage of their career. The closest Magnum came to equaling this was with Wings of Heaven - and some fans hold that album in higher regard than OASTN. They are entitled to their viewpoint! But for me, NOTHING [by ANYONE] matches OASTN.

Just popping in to let y'all know that Magnum are celebrating the 20th anniversary of this album next April by playing the entire thing back to back at the Astoria in London on the 22nd, and at the Wulfrun in Wolverhampton on the 23rd! Both shows will have two sets - the first being OASTN in it's glorious entirety, the second consisting of other classics and more recent stuff. And guess what? I am gonna be flying from Chicago and will be at both gigs! Crazy eh? More info @www.magnumonline.co.uk!

This year 2005 Magnum is celebrating their 2oth anniversary of On a storytellers Night. This album is my Magnumalbum and always being a fan of them, even if later albums aren't from the same high level. This is in top ten of best ever. It couldnt be done better.

Giving this a regular workout in anticipation for the 20th anniversary London Gig in April. Still a fabulous album 20 years on and proof that the Brits can do the Pomp thing just aswell,(if not better in this case) as anyone. The word 'Classic' gets overly used on this site on a regular basis, this is one album in which that word is justified.

This is a killer album and my fave MAGNUM album ever. People into hard rock/hard aor/or melodic metal should have this cd original of course (downloading is for shit heads only). First 3 songs are increible and also ENDLESS LOVE is a killer song. BUY OR DIE motherfuckers lol.

Mas que Pomp yo le describiría como un AOR épico. Si te va ese término pues empieza escuchando esta pieza maestra. Para mi el mejor de Magnum. Ya muchos han dado sus puntos de vista y yo me quedo con los le dan un puntaje muy alto. Todos los temas son buenísimos, cada uno te deja un sabor a mas.. Un clásico del AOR en general sin lugar a dudas. 9.5/10

Personalmente creo que es uno de los mejores albums de Rock Melódico que se han grabado y de esta banda. Esa delicadeza de Les Morts Dansant con su maravillosa letra, por supuesto Just Like An Arrow es un himno, etc, etc... Recomendado 100%.

Todo un clásico, los temas son una lección de música de una calidad superior, donde los instrumentos estan compartidos de una manera mágica, dándole a las canciones un atractivo increíble, a que ser humano que le guste el buen rock melódico no le va a gustar Just like an arrow,How far Jerusalem,Two Hearts,Les Morts Dansant y las demas, si no le gustaría estaría SORDO o loco,todas son excelentes, teclados, guitarras y esa voz de Bob Catley,orgasmos que te dejarán sin aliento, 10/10.

Great album, great artwork, great songs, wonderful production. This is an essential album that is both (melodic) hardrock and progressive rock. The lyrics are fantasy-based but there's a shift towards more AOR-lyrics (love). For me, the shift towards melodic rock/AOR is a good one. Magnum never quite cut it as a progrockband.
