A good deubut, very reminiscent of Styx. Not all songs are great though, I never liked Baby Rock Me at all. The production ain't that great either. Highlights include In The Beginning, Kingdom Of Madness & All That Is Real. Their second album is much more focused and highly recommended. I'd give this one 7/10. |

I'm surprised to see how few comments this pomp piece gets ! Pomp is what Magnum offered in their beginning days ! And good it was too ! Listen to the title track and you know what I mean ! Later on, Magnum has changed to a fine AOR band, and there too they are a force to reckoned with ! Great, underrated band ! |

A legend is born! Actually, Magnum were around from 1972, but this 1978 set was their first album. Raw, quintissentially English interpretation of vaguely Kansas style classic folk metal. Apart from the throwaway 'Baby Rock Me', Kingdom of Madness is an almost unique combination of genuine musicianship, lyrical imagination and powerful melody. The legendary title track still flattens the senses in every way whenever the lads get round to grinding it out live. 'Brand New Morning' due out in May!! |

Their most 'pompeus' work. Great, from start to finish ! Magnum is a very fine band ! |

'Kingdom of Madness', as an album, may be ‘of its time’, but it’s still a good album in my view. A more than creditable debut from a band which would go on to forge themselves a long and successful career. |

My first introduction to the mighty Magnum all those years ago, and whilst it does sound dated by todays standards, I still really enjoy this album alot. 'In The Beginning' has always been one of my fave Magnum tunes and that linked with 'Kingdom Of Madness', 'Invasion' and 'Lords Of Chaos' make up the big tunes on this disc. As I said, the production is 'old', but the new 2 disc remastered version does improve it sonically and is as good as you are going to get. One of the very rare and true English Pomp albums of the time and still a hidden gem in their discography. |

One of the best 70's rock albums and my second favorite from Magnum. Title track rocks! |

I own this on vinyl...a Pomp Record with some AOR flirting here and there(the band has always been into this kinda mix since this very beginning and has created their own sound)...tracks 1,2,4,5,6,7 & 8 are in my book...82/100...a good debut by this legendary British band. |

A good introduction for one of the best bands from UK, Magnum always shows quality over quantity, the improved 2 cd versión is great, playing different styles. Maybe it requires 2 ó spins. |
