Quite a fuss was caused with this one, as it is a cd of all covers. Fans wanted all new Toto, so were a dissapointed. That being said, there are some cracking tracks on this, 'Bodhisattva'& 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps' demonstrate why Luke is THE guitar player bar non. There are definately a few dodgy moments aswell (the disasterous Dylan cover) and the Elvis Costello track is pretty shite aswell. All in all not half as bad as people made this out to be. Roll on the New stuff please. |

There's a brand of toilet in Toyko called TOTO. I never used to make the connection, until this release. |
From: XLNT | Date: August 3, 2003 at 13:29 |
The tracklist looks great on paper, but it just dos'nt work on the disc. Sure the production is XLNT as on all Toto albums, but it's just to polished and the performance lacks real feeling. Toto brings nothing new to the songs. On the contrary, it sounds like they try to imitate the original artists, somtimes with disasterous results. The whole thing get's boring very quickly and the term "elevator music" comes to mind. Unfortunately the best thing on this CD is the art on the cover. |

Why a cover album? Toto has lost it. This album is terrible. It's even worse than Dokken's 'Shadowlife'. |

After their last studio album I really tought they couldn't get any worse.I was definitely wrong. And I see I wasn't the only one.Koogles has to be the rightest one.Sorry for the ones who like it. |

It's really only the excellent (as usual) guitar widdling from Lukather that rescued this from being binned immediately. It is utterly awful though, and these versions of songs that were hardly classics anyway are just soul-less. It really is time they either ditched Kimball (and the Toto name) or played to his strengths... 3/10. |

This is indeed not good at all, Chevalier. Waste of time and money ! I love to hear new original material ! |

As I too was taken aback when I learned these were all covers and not an all-original release, I really listened to the musicianship. It is indeed still there. While most fans have not gotten over having a Toto album of all covers, if they really listened, they would enjoy it as I did. The production is clear and crisp, as usual and the players are in rare form. Give this a real chance and enjoy it for what it is. A chance for great musicians to flex their boundaries a bit. |

The true story ...One day in Jon BUN "big girls blouse" Jovi's HQ "I know let's do an album of cover versions that adds nothing to the originals...and is plainly embarrassing in some parts! AND put it out under the Toto banner and maybe we can pick up some of their fans". HONEST THIS IS TRUE!!! Burn this with your BJB CD's ... what were they thinking???? |

Este nunca me ha convencido, a Toto no les hace falta hacer versiones... por ciero no habeis metido su ultimo Disco: FALLING IN BETWEEN??? |
From: Holland4you | Date: February 2, 2006 at 18:37 |
It's a good album with a lot of good songs, not that it's great but IMO it's good. The songs smell TOTO and in the wait of the new album FIB it was a good effort. But when you listen to FALLING IN BETWEEN you will forget all about TTLG!! I'm sure about that, because that album ROCKS!!!! |

"Bodhisattva" is a good cover, "Whily my guitar.." is a nice Lukather-version of this great old Beatles-tune. Other than that, this album is so boring and lifeless. It's one thing they wanted to do a cover album, but why not release it as a funny fanclub sort of thing other than an official release. Disappointing. |

Oh my, i was so excited for a new TOTO album and then they announced it was just covers. I was disappointed, still it was a day 1 buy for me and when i started it my disappointed grew and grew. First of all, the Tracklist isn't great. House of the Rising has been covered so many times, nobody can hear it anymore. With me not caring about Elton John, Al Green (don't even know who that is) or Herbie Hancock, there isn't much interesting stuff. They absolutely butcher Could you be Loved and It Takes a Lot to Laugh, and a Train to Cry has to be the worst thing David Paich ever recorded. Where they all drunk? I also wonder about the songs, i would've thought that Luke would include something from Hendrix, Jeff Back or maybe Zeppelin. There are two good songs though: Boddhisatva and While my Guitar gently weeps. Watching the Detectives is a nice stab against that idiot Elvis Costello. Overall the worst TOTO album. |
