The record company screwed Toto every chance they got. So in turn we receive a "greatest hits live" Every Toto fan wanted to hear the material that Toto played live, not just the hits we've heard a million times. I think I read that Toto agrees with me! |

First official live album...obviously Toto live is a wild machine(i've seen them)and the high grade of the musicians is undoubtebly skilled, especially Steve Lukather followed by David Paich and the(and this is a very personal opinion)underrated Mike Porcaro...only 3 members of the original line up played in this live effort(the rest were new guys and new singers)...anyway is great to hear songs such as "Africa"(love the way they performed it here),"I'll Be Over You" & "Hold The Line" just to name some...90/100 |

I always wondered why TOTO never released any live stuff. When you watch concerts like Agora 1979 or Budokan 1982 you really have to wonder why. Even if they were all stoned out of their minds in Budokan they still proved to be an awesome live band and it would've made sense to take on the success of IV and release a live package behind it. So instead we had to wait until 1993 and this was even without the Band's consent as they thought this recordings were weak and they are. The recording quality isn't great, the band played good but i always hated Hold the Line sung by Jenny Douglas-McRae as i find her voice awful. With a little help from my Friends is ok but is miles behind Joe Cockers version of it. In my oppinion, if anything, they should've released the awesome Jeff Porcaro Tribute concert. |
