glad to see they included more songs from the first two albums. I think they are very under-rated by most fans. Will this ever see a U.S. release?

this set just shows how great these guys are,as with all compilation cds theres other songs we want on there.but i still cant get over how dissapointing it is that there are no new special songs apart from the "waterloo sunset" cover (which will probably be on the 70s covers cd anyway). Def Leppard have such a massive collection of bsides, demos, remixes, rare tracks, alternative versions, japanese bonus's etc that are brilliant, why couldnt we have at least got some of these on this album!!!

At least they acknowledged their earlier work in this collection. But, the set as a whole fails because of all the 'newer' CHIT they put on there. I guess even THEY realized they couldn't put 'High N Dry' and "have you ever needed someone so bad' on the same collection!! LMAO Poor Leps...let Vivian play his f'en guitar like in his Dio days, you fools. (sigh).

This album is "okay" compare to their other records, but waterloo sunset sounds like some crap that should have been on X it just sucks. As for owning high n dry and pyromania and that being all you need, is simply insane, high was not that good, Bringin' on the heartbreak is the only really good track on it save for Switch625, and the first album just sucked, Pyromania and on were the greatest records ever made until Retro then it just went down hill. Viv never could play, and dio sucks.

C'mon, people, 1st CD is just re-edition of their 1995 greatest hits compilation "The Vault"!!! They just added the track "Long Long Way To Go" from their last album X, and that's all!! And there is no new tracks! What a shame. If you wanna buy their Best Of, try to find a 2CD-edition of "The Vault", which includes the 2nd CD with 9 tracks live in Sheffield.

Metal Pete I don't know if you can't spell or you're just a being stupid but the name is DefLeppard8192 as in 1981-1992 or the span of Def Leps career that was great. Not OU812 as in the Van Halen album. If my post sounded dumb its because we're not alotted enough space to type our opinions. If you're talking about Viv then all I can say is he does suck and could never replace Steve in DL and his songwriting and influence on the band SUCKS! Bring back Pete Willis, and Long Live Steve Clark!!

I don't really think that Pete is better than Phil, honestly I beleive that Phil and Steve are the perfect guitar tandem, I just think that Pete is 100% better at playing than viv. And yes Adrenalize is way better than High n dry, but is equal with Pyromania

I own High n Dry, Pryromania and Hysteria, and will be selling the worthless 'Adrenalize' very soon for a couple bucks at the used shop. Adrenalize Rocks!High n dry is no where near as good as Pyromania or Hysteria or quite frankly Adrenalize.If Steve had played on the record Adrenalize would be the greatest record of all time, its just missing that fullness of guitars, and Tonight and Stand up are little to much like pop metal (Bon Jovi. Steve and Phil are a two man guitar Firestorm, they are better than anyone, Eddie VH nor George Lynch etc can touch them.Viv sucks, his songwriting sucks, he can't blow out a birthday candle.

On through the night is well one of DL's worst records running about fifth just ahead of Euphoria, but behind Vault. Like my name says, anything before 1981 sucked, and anyhthing after 1992 sucked. By the way I will buy Best Of when it comes out in America.

I dont agree about ON THROUGH THE NIGHT. I think its a strong NWOBHM album. But in a way i agree that most of the music after 1992 suckes big time. Still some cool band around and also some very good bands from the 70s but today its just not like before even if we are trying hard to believe it. Many band come together, like EUROPE for exemple and its nice to see them live but its not the same to see them live today or back in 1986. Lets dont fool ourselves, its not the same anymore.

Sorry Defleppard8192 but it's all a matter of taste-IMO Adrenalize sucks and High and Dry is on of the best hard rock albums ever. Personally i don't care for any of their stuff after Pyromania except for the Retro-active cd. How can you deny how great songs like "You got me running" and "Lady Strange" are? And i think "On through the night" is raw and shows a young NWOBHM hungry to make their mark.

I must agree that the first two albums are overlooked. The first is just pure raw energy and is a very fun album. High And Dry, again great. Pyro, Hysteria again great, standards which all hard rock albums will be measured. Adrenalize is so-so for me and it has been so-so ever since. Euphoria was my fav out of Slang, Euphoria, Retro and X but X has it's charm also. Minus the first two songs I really enjoy X a lot.

Def Leppard is such a great band that I just stick with their studio albums. No point in me getting their "Greatest Hits", as great as it is. While Adrenalize may not be on par with Pyromania or Hysteria, it's still pretty damn good in its own right. Mutt Lange was too busy banging Shania Twain at the time (or getting ready to) to give his full attention to the production of Adrenalize like Def's previous albums.

Def Leppard made 3 excellent records. Pyromania, Hysteria, and Adrenalize. Retro Active was a decent record, so was Euphoria. The rest is just bad. I wish they'd go back to the sound they had back in the Pyromania and Hysteria days. That's what made them who they are. I hate it when they're embarrasing themselves with this modern pop-Bon Jovi crap.

Artie, there was like a three year gap between this and when he and Shania started working together so the comment about Shania is off by a bit. Also Mutt only Executive Produced the Adenalize album, It was Produced by Mike Shipley and Def Leppard, so I take it that Mutt was busy with prior commentments or that Lep wanted something new with this album, but it sounds like mostly Hysteria leftovers but does have some bright spots.

I don't know what the deal was with Mutt but I agree with Dean about it, OTTN was very raw yes, like garage production, HND was AC/DC sound with more talent,Pyro was just excellent and the reason I sold my soul to Hard Rock,Hysteria took time but is now my fave record, Adrenalize was excellent liked it as soon as I put it in but I knew something was missing and it was the riffmaster I was deeply sadened and surprised it was so good.

Ok dusty, listen dude VH is not that creative, every album they had only had maybe 3 good songs on it at the most, and he never had a cool riff just alot of slides and hammers and wamm bar bits that made it sound cool. GLynch is good but couldn't hold a candle to Steve or Phil, Steve and Phil, even when they are live always had a very smooth and flowing sound to their parts and it totally envelopes you, and they were great songwriters, something eddie defintely lacks. Steve and Phil Forever!!!

Long time reader very rare poster What about Alex Lifeson?.A very very under rated player. Oh and then there is Mattias Eklundh.Not confirmed,but his fingers have to bleed after each session. John Petrucci who is great. But my personal fav tandom which I have yet to hear anything close is Karl Groom/Nick Midson from Threshold.Those dogs hunt.

Hey DefLeppard8192, without EvH, Phil and Steve probably wouldn't play the way they do. Eddie is the last one who really did something for guitarplaying, aftyer Jimi Hendrix. After him, it is all copying of styles. So a lot of new stuff came from Eddie. And about Eddies riffs, Aint talkin' bout love is a classic, and he's done some truly creative stuff on F.U.C.K. and Balance (check the riff from Amsterdam, it's brilliant). I haven't seen a lot of live stuff from the Leps (only from teh dvds)...

Dean you're right man it is an opinion thing, but as for viv kicking phils ass in Video archive is simply untrue, vivs stuff sounds way out of tune and totally rough no smoothness whatsoever, you can hear him bumping other strings with his fingers by accident in several songs. But rock on!!!

If Steve Clark had still been alive Def Leppard would still be as great as they were in the 80's. I feel like the band went downhill after his death, and the productivity just died out. I've never been a fan of Viv Campbell and I never will be. He just doesn't fit in with the Leps. From what I understand Steve Clark played an important role in the producing of new songs. I doubt that Def Leppard will ever be the band they were in the 80's again. Sadly.

I actually started with bass, and then switched to guitar (I still play bass though) Bass isn't any harder, but it's different. You have to play with a different feel. But it's fun to do! I have a Jackson Kelly (not a USA model, but some japanese serie or something, but it's good). I use an old amp of my dad, don't kow what it is. still saving for a new one. My bass is Ibanez, with a Fender sidekick amp.

I've been playing bass for about 5 years, and guitar 4. I don't play a lot of stuff from other bands, mostly my own stuff, but I play some songs of Motley Crue, Kiss and Van Halen. But I never had any lessons, and most of the time you learn playing songs a lot when you have. I learned to play myself, so I started with chord structures and scales and stuff. I have a few songs I learned to play, but I like to write my own stuff. (not that I'm very good at it, but I'm growing

CC are you some kind of moderator or something? Dusty I tried teaching myself from the time I got an acoustic guitar when I was 11 but I only learned a few chords and the scales. Then in the past year I started taking lessons and I started learning lots of songs, and I've really improved, I've only tried writing songs a couple of times with no success, but its was fun. as a die hard lep fan n with most bands who ave been around as long as the leps its only natural that every1 thinks their early stuff is the best n so slags off the newer releases well ur r all entitled to ur opinion but as greatest hits go this is definetly recommened sure i would ave preferred alot more older tunes but every1 has 2b satisfied none more so than the !!!!fuckin label!!!!.

Now that's more like it!!! Like I said when reviewing "Vault", "It would take two discs for a Leppard Best of". Well, here it is! Well, it's really "Vault" plus a bonus disc of more Leppard hits. Pure perfection, almost. "Desert Song" and "Fractured Love" are missing. Making it, not quite perfect, but close. Everything any Leppard fan could ever need in one 2 disc set. Now that is pure perfection!!! Very essential stuff!!!
