If you notice that a particular Blackberry Smoke CD release or compilation is missing from the list above, please submit that CD using the CD submission page. The ultimate goal is to make the discographies here at Heavy Harmonies as complete as possible. Even if it is an obscure greatest-hits or live compilation CD, we want to add it to the site. No doubt Blackberry Smoke are a top-class, hardworking band. They just ooze musical chops and songcraft. Unfortunately, this double live CD leaves me lukewarm. For one thing, they work in all thirteen tracks from The Whippoorwill, which leaned more toward country music than the hard southern rock of their earliest material, with some softer tones and slower tempos. And that translates to the whole concert here: how many live albums do you know sound slower and softer than their studio versions? I'm a metalhead, I'm used to amped-up live renditions and a sharp guitar tone. The mix here just sounds muddy, like the speakers are blocked or something. And the occasional guitar jams just wander along and waste time--you want them to hurry up and get back to the song instead of sitting back and nodding along.
