How the once mighty have fallen. That's how I felt when I first bought this one. Other than "Breaking in the Gun" this disc is basically useless! The expectaions were high from all the fans that loved the "Exposed" cd & Vince disappointed us all. This & Exposed are now out of print, but will soon be reissued by Beyond Records with bonus tracks. If you don't have "Exposed" buy it instead & save a few bucks by not buying this one. Better yet buy one of the Crue remasters. 2.0 for sure!

Vince lost a lot of ground on this cd. It was a definate diss-appointment for any Crue fan. He aslo tried to jump the alternative bandwagon, but landed on his ass. (the wagon was too fast) Exposed was totally Vince, but i'm not sure what this was. I agree with the guy above on the beercoaster idea, but i'm not willing to buy another 5 cd's to make a full set.

This one sucked. "Exposed" is a must, but don't waste your money on this one. I knew I was in trouble when I heard one of those rap turntable things scratching in one of the songs.

I agree w/ most reviews on this CD. Not a great offering, but at the same time, Vince was going through a tough time in his life. Actually, I just d-loaded a killer cover of Chicago's '25 Or 6 To 4'. If anyone can find it, check it out!! It was a bonus on the Japanese version of CIS. Too bad it's not on the US version

On a scale of 1 to 10 I give this album a 1. What a piece junk. Skylars song is good, very good. The rest? Not worth listening to! What was Vince thinking??????

This is a great album but is not a Crue style album. Open your mind....

Mientras que el Exposed es una obra maestra, el Carved In Stone es digno de tirar a la basura. Sonidos experimentales, ritmos programados, y hasta jugueteos con el hip-hop. En conclusión, un disco decepcionante.

I'm a huge fan of Motley Crue & Vince Neil. But, this album was a waste. The only good song on here was the one about his daughter. It was/is a beautiful song. But, the rest is total shit.

I was pumped for this album up until about 35 seconds into the first track. I love the start of the first song but after you hear the riff a few times, thats it! The rest of the album SUCKS DICK, ASS, AND JUST ABOUT ANYTHING ELSE YOU CAN THINK OF! After reading "The Dirt" I realize he had alot of shit going on in his life at this point, but JESUS CHRIST!! shiiiiiiiit. Skylar's song isn't bad but I think it's the only thing that has any heart put into it here. Sorry Vince.

I realize I'm def. in the minority here but i actually enjoyed this one quite a bit more than i did Exposed. I tend to be into alot of the heavier stuff so this one didn't take long to sink it's hooks into me. Also I'm in total agreement with a previous poster that the Chicago cover from the import is simply awesome. Cheers

i'm not a fan of vince's voice, but i love him w/ motley.sometimes when you don't like a certain player,it comes down to what you create & if it fits.with motley it fits.i was let down w/ the 1st cd.i liked tracks 1,2,3, & 6 on this one.a big step forward.the rest is o.k.as nikki said,"its not cool that he was on "the sureal life".and i'm sure he didn't like vince releasing a live solo cd w/ motley tunes.hate to say it,i hope they get back together & tour to promote the movie & call it a career.

Exposed was awesome, and I expected similar things from this one, got something else...Steve Stevens gone and just some weird songs. I've forced myself to like these songs after repeated play, but if you're looking for this being Exposed II, you will be disappointed. This album killed his solo career IMHO.

Big Motley fan here and I gotta say while I prefer the Motley stylings of Exposed,I still love this album. Vince experimented & for my money it worked. It may be a bit alternative for some but what I tend to find with hair metal guys who try it,is they do it so much better than actual alternative bands as they have more melody etc (Sven Gali is an exception)

After the excellent Exposed album, Neil jumps on the alternative bandwagon. While this album was a failure as expected, their are some tracks where Neil's vocals mix well with the music style such as "Breakin' In The Gun" and "Black Promises". 5/10

There are worse CDs out there, but there are also millions better. I really like the debut but I've probably played this all of 3 or 4 times. An adventurous set of songs, but I just get the vibe he was trying to fit in with what was going on at the time without really doing what he knows and loves. This is Vince trying to be someone he's not and he didn't fool me. Not a fave at all.

vince neil does it again and writes another rockin masterpeice.great way to follow up exposed. carved in stone is a classic album. "breakin in the gun" "writing on the wall" are killer tracks.why would vince want to sell out and do another exposed cd. i feel sorry for the fans that were waiting for him to make exposed version 2.0!

OK. While this is not in the same stratosphere as Exposed. Give this one a shot. There are some really good songs on this album. Breakin' the Gun, Writing on the Wall, Make U Feel and The Crawl are good songs. If you are expecting Exposed II move on, if you want to hear a good album by one of the voices of rock, step right in....

Hmmm...this one was not nearly as solid as the first. It may have something to do with the change in the lineup or maybe Vince just used his B-Sides on this album. Either way this is not an essential album even for a Crue collector (and they are one of my fav bands). Anyway I give this one a 70/100

OK....Here Goes...I'm listening to Full CD & Grading at same time...Grading as 80's early 90's Hair Metal Fan...I fully understand this was the time of stripped down Grungeish fare...If any song should be worthy of the era (AKA...top notch Non Hair Metal material)...I will comment accordingly... 1. Breakin' In The Gun (RUBBISH!!!) 2. The Crawl(RUBBISH!!!) 3. One Way (RUBBISH!!!) 4. Black Promises (RUBBISH!!!) 5. Skylar's Song (4 outta 10..filler back in the day) 6. Make U Feel (4+...Not..Hair Metal, but could appeal to some..give a listen) 7. Writing On The Wall (4+...Not..Hair Metal, but could appeal to some..give a listen) 8. Find A Dream (RUBBISH!!!) 9. One Less Mouth To Feed (4+...Not..Hair Metal, but could appeal to some..give a listen) 10. The Rift (4+..Not..Hair Metal, but could appeal to some..give a listen) OVERALL (3 OUTTA 10)...NOT ONE SONG I EVER NEED TO HEAR AGAIN.........VERY FORGETTABLE....I'VE ACTUALLY FORGOTTEN IT MULTIPLE TIMES ROCK ON!!!
