| I get it, the Panthers are intentionally satirical. I love these guys sound, vocals and Satchel's guitar playing is fantastic, but (and I know I have said this before), it is just so difficult getting past the vulgarity of it all. It's not like one can listen to these songs over and over. Track #1 is my favorite and the Cheap Trick cover is good, but so many other better songs they could've picked from their catalog (but again, I can see why they did).

| In a way, Steel Panther does what all the Swedish meatballs have only occasionally managed to do: absolutely nail the hair-metal sound in just about every way. And why shouldn't they? They're old guys who experienced it firsthand. Lower The Bar, however, isn't their best album, with a higher-than-usual percentage of songs that just sound like vehicles for dirty jokes. They know that the best schtick is the one you never admit is a schtick, and so they play their parts to the hilt. But ... sometimes I feel like they would do better if they just released six-song EP's instead of full albums, and Lower The Bar makes that argument pretty well.

| Have been a huge fan of these guys since way back in the Metal Shop days, but this album did nothing for me. Sadly for me what has hurt them is they have actually toned the humour down. Yes, there are still songs with that trademark Panther vulgar humour, but other songs seem to have toned it back. Still rude, but not as rude as previous efforts. I always said when people said they should just get rid of the humour and vulgarity, that they would just become another rock band and lose what made then unique and stand out, and this album is kinda proving that. If this is a step in that direction, and they are going that way gradually, I think the ride will be over soon for them. Over here, the venues they play have got bigger and bigger over the years, but I can see them going back to the smaller venues at this rate.

| The album title is an appropriate 3 word review. The problem with S.P. is where do they go from here to push the envelope? Snuff film, bestiality, and pedophile lyrics? I remember as a young kid listening to the the cover track by Cheap Trick thinking I was dancing with danger. Around the same time I sneeked into the movies to see the R rated Revenge of the Nerds. Now I we here about 11 year porn addicts addicted to TRANNY'S GONE WILD. Our "Kardashian" culture is degrading/ dumbing-down at warp speed.

| Very disappointing album from Steel Panther. The songs sound very basic and hookless and are pretty forgettable. They just seem to chant the song title over and over again and just hopes that people find it catchy when really, it's just boring. It's not even funny as far as humour goes. Charlie Sheen? tranny jokes? LAME! The only good song on here is "Wasted Too Much Time", the rest are either average or terrible. The thing that makes Steel Panther so awesome is that they were able to not just ROCK but also write the most raunchy, most hilarious lyrics. But this album is a huge disappointment. One thing I will admit is that the album's title is very fitting, because in regards to quality (both humour and music) they really "lowered the bar" on this one.
