This album is hilarious... but more to the point the songs are amazing. From the opening track, 'Death to all but metal' the message is clear. Musicianship is excellent, production sounds a million dollars, lyrics are funny as hell and the song is brilliant. 'Asian Hooker' follows with a monster riff and mind-blowing chorus, 'Community Property' is a fantastic heartfelt ballad (lol) with a hilarious pre-solo (even though the whole song is hilarious), 'Eyes of a Panther' is the most 'serious' song on the CD, but still has a few amusing lines... and is a f*cking killer hard rocker, by the way. 'Fat Girl (Thar She Blows)' is an album highlight - perfect melodic rock... and extremely amusing too. 'Eatin' Ain't Cheatin' is another cool hard rocker, 'Party All Day (Fuck All Night)' borrows from Bon Jovi's 'Living on a prayer' and delivers, 'Turn Out the Lights' is another absolutely hilarious killer hard rocker, 'Stripper Girl' is a spectacular ballad, 'The Shocker' is imo the weakest track

... but solid, 'Girl from Oklahoma' is pure brilliance. Deeply sentimental little acoustic ballad with the funniest chorus on the album, imo. LOVE this song. And the album closes with 'Hells on Fire' which is another stunning melodic rocker. Overall, this album just never falters and I have to admit this is the best thing I have heard this year. Production is amazing and the songs are even better - and hilarious.

This is causing many an argument at the moment as the the actual real quality of this band as a whole and I must admit that musically, they are top notch and certainly deserve all the applause (albeit totally hyped) that they are garnering at the moment. My opinion, as with quite a few other people, is the 'longevity' of the totally juvenile and obvious 'Comedic' lyrics that are throughout this album, couple that with the complete parody of virtually every Glam/Metal band of the 80's, it is all starting to wash very thin already, even after 6 or 7 spins. It was funny first few times, but isn't anymore. 1 or maybe 2 more albums tops is my opinion, but good on 'em whilst they lasted.

Hasn't this been all been done before years ago with Metal Shop a.k.a. Danger Kitty? I fall into the Jez and Shoemaker camp as 'wearing thin' is just being nice. As you can see with the reviews above, some people are easily AWED with the constant use of dumbed down XXX lyrics. The bar has been lowered(buried) to a new low. Songs like 'Love Rocket' by Metal Shop are a delicate flower lyrically compared to 'Girl from Oklahoma' which is just pure unfunny raunch, as is a majority of the tracks. This band can play but if they can release a quality CD instead of a over the top porn 80's cliche side show, remains to be seen. Listen to this masterpiece in it's entirety on imeem.com before you consider wasting a CD-R let alone purchasing it. Steel Dragon = Steel Panther, they should have stole some decent lyrics and harmonies to go with the boosted band name.

I agree with Jez pretty much 100%. They are good musicians. Songs have bits taken from pretty much every hair band so original music is not there. They're almost making a mockery of all the hair bands but they seem to be a fan of them at the same time. The only thing original is the cheesey porn lyrics. It's like Spinal tap with porn lyrics. The songs obviously aren't meant to be taken seriously so I ask you - how long do you think a joke parody hair band with porn lyrics will last? Not long IMO. Damn good try though. I mean how much can I take of listening to a guy singing about cocks, balls, sperm, and other shit like that even if there is some cool music behind it which is really not original to begin with? I do like 'Death To All But Metal' since it's a cool meaning and insults some other musicians I don't care for. 'Party All Day (Fuck all night)' is a cool tune which totally rips off 'Livin On A prayer' and 'Contagious'. Those 2 are worth listening to for a dose of comedy glam.

Some people say the jokes wear thin pretty quickly, but ya know what, 5 months later, and I still listen to this at least once a week, and still laugh at the lyrics. Hell, lets face it, I have been listening to some of these songs for 5 years from the Metal Shop days, and I still find them funny. Its not just a sign of this being good comedy, but also a sign that the music is fucking awesome as well.

Personaly I think the band musically is awesome but the lyrics are kind of lame. How many times can someone listen to the F word or to suck something etc. and still find it funny. I guess I just don't think talking dirty a big deal and not really funny. Some people will find anything hilarious, hey he said fuck, ha ha ha. Note to band: keep rockin' but a bit more maturity is needed.

This album in a few years is gonna be a classic!!!it has plenty of catchy songs and the AOR-ish "Fat Girl" is wonderful!!!..the only "bad thing" are the lyrics that are a little childlish but apart from that...a blast of a band (specially live!)..talking about the lyrics,i love "Death To All But Metal" (real statement to the bones!)...90/100...

Okay seems to be two roads to travel here. Musically this is an incredible album...lyrically well it is funny but just think what they could produce an album with some better lyrics. Personal faves are Eyes Of A panther, Death To All But metal and Party All Day. Musically a 90, lyrically a 20....overall I'd give it a 75.

As Jez mentions, this band is fantastic musically despite the fact that the lyrics are really rude! I have to admit,I enjoy listening to this pure rock n' roll! The production and the musicianship is really strong.I feel Steel Panther will raise many more arguments as the time passes by...

This album has excellent musicianship and some nice melodies. The lyrics are funny too but after one or two listens the humour wears thin and one is left with an album that could've been great. Party All Day obviously is inspired by Bon Jovi's Livin' On A Prayer while Girl From Oklahoma borrows heavily from More Than Words by Extreme. It would've been better (although by not much) if their lyrics weren't just about sex but the whole album describes (in detail) every sex act imaginable (or unimaginable). The music is good if the lyrics are ignored though which is a pity since the singer has a very good voice.
