|I have a promotional CD of this album from when it first came out. The cove has been changed. The CD that I have gives a shadow of a guy playing guitar. I don't know?...... Maybe it is a collectors item!$$$? It has a promotional stamp right on the CD.

|Actually, the cover isn't a shodow. It's a silhouette of a guy playing guitar.

|I have the same version of the cd as you Jason, I don't think it's that much of a collectors item....

|The cover pictured here is form the original British pressing. The one you have with the silhoutted guitar player is the US release. Either way, 'Dirty Love' is an incredible song!!! Too bad they eventually gave up on hard rock and tried to be a Bad Company clone.

|Thunder has a live DVD due for release on August 26th in the UK. This live performance was recorded way back in November of '97 in London.

|There are some great songs on this one. 'Love Walked In' should have been a huge hit, but the band never got big in the US.

|Just got both Thunders cd's off ebay. Had to replace my worn out cassettes. I always thought of these guys as a combo of early 80's Whitesnake and mid 80's Bad Company. Dirty Love being the hit off this cd. Great driving music.

|A superb album!!! Love Walked In is still considered as a timeless classic power ballad...

|Great cd! Had this music gotten more airplay in the U.S., they'd be a hosehold name. But the U.S. music scene is always trying 'what's new', not what's tried and true, like Thunder's sound. U.S. labels think that everyone like Bitchy Spears. The good news is that Thunder is releasing another album in the near future.

|Great band and great albums, much better than any 'power metal' band. They supported Iron Maiden in South America and were pulled by the audience. What a pity!!!

|I've had 3 Thunder songs - love walked in - low life in high places and castles in the sand - for about 3 or 4 years now and found out through a guy from work that they had a greatest hits cd. since then (approx. 3 weeks ago) i've downloaded about 85 of their songs. As underdog said if they had more air play these guys would be huge. Never heard them on aust. radio either but these guys have continued on with 80's rock even of late with a newly released (as they have re-formed) album 'shooting a

|I loved this album when it first came out but after a while I just kind of got tired of it. Good songs throughout but kind of all sound the same. As for this album not getting enough airplay, I remember you couldn't turn on MTV without seeing the videos for dirty love and she's so fine playing. It's just unfortunate this kind of music was starting to die down at the time. I am looking forward to hearing their new album.

|I've always avoided this band put bought this album the other day...I was shocked! Man, that's rock'n'roll! It's that kind of album that has to be played out loud...If your neighbours don't come knocking you don't know true rock'n'roll..Haha just got complaints for blastin' 'Dirty Love' out loud...Highlights for me so far: 'She's so fine', 'Dirty Love', 'Backstreet Symphony' and of course 'Gimme some Lovin''...

|Outstanding album. Sounds like a collection, like a 'Best of'. Plenty of real, great rock 'n roll stuff, similar to Great White but much better, 'cause it's not calculated music, but pure inspiration. I thought UK music was all shit, but these guys kick ass. The only British band that can fit on the US scene, on the same level with Warrant, Great White, Skid Row, Tesla, Slaughter...Thanks God I've got to them.(Still jumping in my room when I put on them)

|Ohhhh man!!! I was given this cassette back in '92 by an ex....as he was walkin' out the door....with the instructions to listen to 'Dirty Love'....lol...LOVED it then.....LOVE it still today!! The rest of the songs are ok....but the CD is worth getting.....simply for 'Dirty Love'!!! A definite 'F U' song if there ever was one!!! :P

|This was a superb debut from the Brit lads! I don't think they've ever topped it in terms of energy to be honest although Thunder are as solid & consistent as you get. Real Bluesey/Ballsy Hard edged Rock n Roll numbers. Varied...No, but when you have a winning formula...why change it? Their greatest hits album covers the best stuff from the first 3 albums if you don't want to trawl through each one. Now that is a fine compilation. Danny has a superb voice & the riffing works kinda cool.

|Pretty good debut by this band that I think tends to get overrated by melodic fans. This is their most consistent album with great songs like 'Dirty Love' and 'Love Walked In'. 7/10

|I have the LJap import with the extra disc and that rocks just as well as the main album. Probably Thunder's finest hour although I lost interest after They Think It's All Over so I can't comment on how this compares to the last release which seems to be getting ace reviews here.

Super-recomendado. 10/10 IMO 100%ROCK´N´ROLL!!!!!

|TODO UN CLASICO! THUNDER ERAN MUY SUPERIORES A MUCHAS BANDAS QUE SALIERON JUNTO CON ELLOS EN ESE TIEMPO, LA PRUEBA ESTA EN QUE THUNDER PERMANECEN VIGENTES Y REALIZANDO COSAS DE GRAN CALIDAD. AH Y EL DISCO? "DIRTY LOVE", CLASICO DEMOLEDOR CON BOWES IMPRESIONANTE EN LAS VOCES; "HIGHER GROUND" REPRESENTA EL ESTILO THUNDER EN TODO SU APOGEO - COMO BIEN SE DIJO, ROCK CLASICO, INFLUENCIADO POR LOS PRIMEROS WHITESNAKE Y TODA LA TRADICION HARDROCKERA DE FINES DE LOS 90S- INCREIBLE LOVE WALKED IN!!!

|Its funny how things are brought back to you. Just went to see them on the farewell tour in London a few days ago, and got talking to a friend of mine about them as we both got into them back when this album came out. While I love all their albums, they never bettered this one. Its one of those rare albums like Appetite for destruction that is devoid of filler, and is almost impossible for a band to improve on. I hadnt listened to it in ages, but after seeing them again, and the discussion, I had to play it. I can honestly say, this must be one of my favourite albums ever. Flawless!
||Date: February 21, 2011 at 11:17|
|This is seriously a killer debut. The only filler track here is Gimme Some Lovin' but even then I can still listen to it. Higher Ground, Dirty Love, Until My Dying Day, Backstreet Symphony and Love Walked In are my favourites. Thunder should have been much bigger.

|first heard about this band few years ago when I was watching vh1 rocks on vh1 and they played gimme some lovin'.after seeing this video I decided to search this band.this album is very good,lots of blues influences here. my faves: gimme some lovin' (great hard n heavy cover), dirty love, love walked in and higher ground.

|It's funny, I first heard this band with "Dirty Love" in the summer of '91 (didn't realize the album was out for a year and a half). Anyway, I was a kid at the time, with not very broad horizons afor my music, and I doubt I could've put it into words at the time, but when I heard "Dirty Love," I thought something like, "These guys sound old." What I meant was that the music sounded like it was from an older generation, i.e., not early-'90's hair-metal. More like a '70's band trying to play hair metal, or vice versa. Not as Zep-worshipping as Great White, and not the fulll-on Bad Company retro of Cry of Love. I can't really put my finger on WHO they remind me of, actually. Defsinitely straightforward '70's hard rock, Englishmen trying to be bluesy. It's good stuff, lots of tunes you want to sing along with after half a listen. Give them credit for continuing through the '90's without waverng in their sound, and weren't they still fairly popular in Britain?

|In the book Nothin' But A Good Time (a must-read for all HH faithful), there's an interview with the former head of programming at MTV. He talks about being faced with a choice between "Dirty Love" by Thunder or "Man In The Box" by Alice In Chains, which sG to make that week's "Buzz Clip" (a spotlight for up-and-coming bands). And ultimately, he went with AIC, because to him, Thunder were good, but more of the same. And I can't disagree with him at all. I liked "Dirty Love" just fine. But I LOVED "Man In The Box." And it's interesting: you can check the Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts from the late spring and early summer of 1991 and see that, at least on American AOR radio, Thunder actually did better. AOR radio gravitated toward the familiar, maybe because the listener base was generally older. And that's what Thunder's music was: familiar. In the end, "Dirty Love" was just another in a long line of similar-sounding songs.
||Date: April 29, 2021 at 18:04|
|Interesting comments by Doghouse. I too like AIC's debut....but only the first three songs, excellent, but then it drops off, IMO. I can see how Thunder was viewed as "more the same." We were beginning to see the shift in musical tastes back then. And they were from across the pond, AIC was not. "Backstreet" and especially their next album, are phenomenal, Danny Bowes is such a terrific singer. I like AIC, but I love Thunder!
||Date: April 29, 2021 at 21:38|
|Agree with Doghouse, everyone on HH should buy and read the book "Nothing But a Good Time". It is a truly amazing and enlightening read. On AIC, to my ears Facelift was part of our genre and should appear on HH. Same goes for Soundgarden's "Louder Than Love". When it comes down to it though, geography played a major part in being painted with the Untouchable brush. It wasn't fair, and just like Punk, history has shown that Grunge was a short-lived movement. Ps. Thunder is a good band and MTV made the wrong call IMO.
|From: Doghouse Reilly
||Date: April 30, 2021 at 13:19|
|AIC's discography can be found over on BrutalMetal. Personally, I'm not a big fan of splitting up a band's discography between the two sites except in extreme cases (see Pantera). As for punk and grunge in general: punk's first wave may not have lasted very long, but it inspired for influenced lots of other cool music—hardcore, thrash, etc. Grunge only begat more grunge, with steadily diminishing potency.
